the non-analytic argument for Eli entering the Hall of Fame

An interesting argument not based on numbers for Eli to enter the Hall of Fame.
Eli Manning is going to the Hall of Fame---and that's OK - ( New Window )
He is an absolute Hall of Famer!

Having his jersey # retired and being on the ring of honor are two of the many accolades he will receive including the HOF.

More importantly, he will represent the New York Football Giants going forward in his life and we will all be the better for it.

We will have bad times and good times and euphoric times for years to come....and I for one...want to see Eli there as part of the celebrations that result either as a team representative or super-fan!

I also want to see him continue today's great speech with one on the podium, in front of his bust, in his yellow jacket in Canton.
The problem with analytics

in football is that different systems create different results. Consider Simms, in a run-based offense who because of the system rarely threw except on third down and never had top receivers, versus Montana, who played in a west-coast offense throwing the ball all the time with major talent at WR. Whose analytics are going to look better?
Peyton got it right when he said that you

can't write the story of the NFL without Eli Manning and that is 100% true.

And that is what the Hall of Fame should ve about . His place in history is secure. And so should his place in the Hall.

He was a big time playet on the biggest of stages. 42 will be talked about years from now . Thats the kind of thing the Hall should stand for Not empty stats.

5 players are two time Super Bowl MVPs

Brady (4) Montana (3) Starr (2) Bradshaw (2) and Eli Manning.

Super Bowl era NFL HOF QBs not on this list:

Eli's brother
Brees
Rodgers
Favre
Elway
Marino
Fouts
Moon
Warner
Kelly
Aikman
Staubach
Tarkington
Stabler
Young
Griese
Dawson
Namath

None of those players including the multiple time MVPs ever beat an undefeated team in the Super Bowl. Just Eli Manning.

It would be a joke if Eli was kept out of the NFL HOF when Kurt Warner is in it. Just to name one.
