"We have a lot of ammo to trade up for a target if needed" "Looking for a Franchise QB with one of these picks. High priority with the owner to get one this year" "Looking for a face of the Franchise type QB and if one is targeted, won't wait to see if he drops to #5 and not afraid to move up to get him." |
I think the Redskins are gonna bail out of #2 to the Dolphins (Tua) and pick up a bunch of picks and probably draft the best tackle on the board at 5.
I think a QB hungry team picking 6-11 is going to get desperate and jump to 3 for Herbert, or the Lions may decide he is there guy.
This scenario is very much a long shot, but I think Miami is going to trigger some action.

so tough to pass up on a talent like Young but I guess if they are blown away by an offer its probably best they take it
If the Skins cut a deal with the Find, look for Detroit to cash the Chase Young card.
Which leaves the Giants Okudah, the best OT on the board, or Simmons.
Yikes in that scenario if they roll the dice on Simmons I will pray I am not wrong about his game not translating to the NFL so well.
Josh Rosen
Josh Rosen
Speaks volumes. Clearly they were about as impressed with Rosen as Arizona was. Glad we didn’t take that guy.
Grier also said that the Dolphins haven’t met Tagovailoa yet and that the evaluation process is still in its infancy stages.
“I’d say we’re still so early in this process,” Grier said. “We haven’t met him, we haven’t sat down with him, talked with him. Our doctors haven’t seen him. We know as much as you do right now. We see the media reports and things of that nature. At the end of the day, we’ve got to get to know the guy, get in front of him, just like any player. We’re very, very early in the stage in the fact that we haven’t even met the guy yet.”

This! Giants have a QB...unless they can create the appearance of a feeding frenzy for the 4th pick, Miami can sit tight. Too bad the Bears don't have the 5th pick, they're the only team dumb enough to bid against themselves.
Winning those 2 meaningless games late in the season did us no favors.
Josh Rosen
Boy he certainly is starting to look like a colossal bust. He was a #10 pick.
TO jump ahead of Miami.
Second Washington won't trade down to the 5th position and give up a chance to draft Young and go with an OL with the 5th pick. None of the OLs are worthy of the 5 pick. They all have some warts and from a value perspective are more inclined to be grabbed with the 8th pick or thereafter.
If anyone is inclined to trade down it would be Detroit. If they do then the Giants may still have an opportunity to trade down a slot or 2 and still get a quality player like Simmons.
Burrow is pretty much a lock to the Bengals in my view.

Then why wouldn't they just jump to Detroit.
Exactly.

In theory it would cost less to jump to 4 then it would to 3. Maybe that's nitpicking at that point, but it should be a lower cost.

and he is able to throw at his pro day. If Tua is still iffy, I wouldn't be surprised to see Miami offer the moon to Cinci for Burrow. Most make the assumption that the Bengals will take Burrow and it is a safe assumption. But don't discount an offer that they can't refuse. Cinci could still drop back to 5 and take Miami's haul and then still trade up to take QB#2

I think it is a safe assumption as mentioned above, but what if Miami offers the 3 first round picks and their 2nd? Not enough? Keep in mind that any "Moon Offer" is contingent on Tua not being healthy/not being able to throw. Ross isn't getting any younger and is desperate to get his guy.

Omg..some of you refuse to believe anything positive can happen.
Trading to 3 would be more expensive.
The real question is if the Lions want a QB. Wouldn't surprise me.

I've mentioned it earlier this past week that Detroit is the true wildcard for the 2nd QB off the board. While they still have Stafford for this coming season, they can easily get out of the contract next year with a $13M dead cap hit. They would be wise to invest in their future without expending considerable draft capital. If Stafford stays healthy this year, they most certainly aren't picking at the top of the draft again.
I could see Okudah being there #4 for the Giants pick.
Lying season
Or even Washington, if they get an offer too good to refuse they will simply pass on Young who will then go to DET.
It would not be enough for Dolphins to move from 5 to 3 . They would have to throw in their other 2nd rounder or give no 2nds and their middle first round pick instead. Jets paid 3 2nd rd picks to move from 6 to 3 to get Darnold w/ Indy in 2018. I think thats about what we can expect
No way Giants are taking a QB, but who knows about Detroit. Stafford isn't real old for a QB, but he did just miss half the season with fractures in his spine. I don't know for sure, but that might speed up his retirement clock.
Then why wouldn't they just jump to Detroit.
Detroit might not accept a specific trade proposal.
Or a team might want to pay a lower price for the #4 than the #3.
Or multiple teams may be interested in trading up.
I've just got a sneaky feeling Detroit ends up taking a QB. If that happens all bets are off, if we're in a situation regardless of how it happens where Burrows and Herbert/Tua are off the board by four (whether Detroit takes one or trades with Miami) one of the the other QB needy teams are going to be desperate to get the pick of who is left.

I agree that a trade down is always a possibility but it really just doesn't look all that likely at this point. If Tua is healthy he'll be off the board by #4 and expecting anyone to trade up for Herbert is simply dreaming in technicolor, at least at this time. Herbert did have a decent Senior Bowl week, but the buzz we are hearing coming from Mobile is that more and more teams are actually looking at Jordan Love as their #3 QB. He's been described as having Mahomes-like physical skills especially the arm strength (I actually thing Josh Allen is the better comp), although he had a really miserable season in 2019. Like Herbert Love had a good week in Mobile but what we are hearing is that what they did at the Senior Bowl likely cemented their first round grade, but nobody is talking about them at potential top 5 candidates, again at least at this time. It also appears that NFL teams have gotten a little more cautious about trading up for a QB in the past couple of years particularly where there are questions or warts. For example, nobody traded into the top 5 to get Allen or Rosen of Daniel Jones or Haskins in the past couple of years.
Miami could chance sitting at 5 and still get Tua.

If just Tua and Burrow go before 4 for the QBs, we get the best non QB not named Young on the Board. My guess it'll be one of Becton, Wills , Simmons or Okudah with the hope it's Mekhi.
As I said last year with Josh Allen don't be so sure that he's definitely going 2nd overall. Everybody thought Josh Allen was going to be gone by 3. He went 7th.
If Miami moves up to 2 and takes Tua. That'll put a lot of pressure on the Chargers or Panthers to move up and take Herbert/Love. I've been reading all week how well Herbert and Love have done at the Senior Bowl. We need a strong combine and Pro Day from at least one of them and we could possibly see QBs go 1, 2 & 3.
