Just looking/hearing at all the comments today from people across the spectrum...he's got some serious shoes to fill. And even Eli detractors will soften in the coming years & go all 'Eli would have made that play', even though they wanted to run the guy out of town on a rail for years.
Just an observation. I think DJ will be fine, but Eli's legacy will look better and better by the year if he struggles. Hopefully that's not the case & Jones is hoisting a Lombardi before too long & we got a Favre to Rodgers like transition.
Agree. For all here that are only too happy to skewer DG for just about every choice he has made as GM, and I was not one thinking kindly about the Jones pick at 6, I think DG is putting more emphasis on mental makeup than Reese and Ross ever did, and in particular with Jones, his mental makeup will turn out to be his greatest asset.
But he does throw a lovely accurate short to medium ball too, with wonderful touch.
agree...
Agreed.
If anything, it seems like he welcomes it.

he is unfazed, imo

Make me #3.. he is 22, got the world by the...Eli is getting love and accolades and it is probably a thrill to see it, be a part of it and being the guy chosen to replace a legend.
I think DJ is about to rise.
Seriously, though. When I saw Jones on TV when they were taking the picture of former and current Giants together, I did wonder what was going through Jones' mind.
If anything, I think this has to be incredibly motivating for Jones. He got to see firsthand today what can happen for him if he wins a championship or two. If he does, he has that same kind of ceremony waiting for him at the end of his career. It had to be incredibly motivating for him, if anything.

It really is that simple.

Nah, I will never miss Eli. This is the happiest day as a Giant fan for me. Only bad thing is not seeing his delusional fans retiring with their God. Like a damn cult. Just happy to have my Giants back. Wish Eli the best but his fans can suck a big dick.

On top of that, some of you are absolutely batty with your takes on how this ceremony for Eli could be some kind of "motivation" for DJ.
As if winning the Superbowl itself isn't all the motivation any athlete worth his fucking weight in salt would need!!!
I guess that wasn't motivation enough for Odell Beckham, and that's why his career - that so readily might have been an HOF one - is going up in flames.
Or rather will go up in flames...
Who will be his backup?
