Who is now your favorite active athlete?

Chris684 : 1/24/2020 8:08 pm
(If you’re like me and it was Eli)

For me the torch has been passed to Jacob deGrom.

Toss up between Aaron Judge and Saquon Barkley.
BlueLou'sBack : 1/24/2020 8:12 pm : link
I might be loving Gerrit Cole and Daniel Jones too pretty soon.
The slot is vacant at the moment...
Torrag : 1/24/2020 8:17 pm : link
Pete Alonso is in contention though. Starting pitchers are tough to embrace for me they throw a game about once a week. It's not a lot of exposure.
Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres.
Klaatu : 1/24/2020 8:19 pm : link

Favorite Giants Athlete? Saquon
Chris Kreider...
vonritz : 1/24/2020 8:47 pm : link
by far. Probably Artemi Panarin, Tony DeAngelo or Adam Fox after the trade deadline. Saquon maybe in a few years.
to each his own ...
Torrag : 1/24/2020 8:51 pm : link
but Chris Kreider? Seriously? You're setting the bar too low...

I wouldn’t be surprised if you ask this question 2 years from now Jones is at the top of my list.
Saquon is now my #1

Panarin
Kakko
Andres Iniesta #1

Kakko is one of your favorite active players?

Based on what? potential? Because his rookie season has been pretty bland. Just curious what motivates you in this case.
A lot of good names. If I had to pick one right now - it's Jake

It went from Eli to DeGrom.

An aside, I’m a 42 year old Giants/Mets fan so it’s tough seeing Eli and Wright retire over the past few years, but I feel like they’re backed up pretty well with DeGrom, and potentially/hopefully Daniel Jones.

New York basketball sucking beyond belief -

I'll go with Panarin on the Rangers. I'm not the biggest hockey maven on BBI but I just love watching this guy - forget his stats, he organizes the team's play and makes his teammates better. And he's a wizard with the puck.

In soccer, right now I'll go with Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich's keeper. Not the sexiest choice but as with Panarin - he organizes his team and makes his teammates better, and is skilled enough to be the 11th field player.

In hoops .... blech. No one right now.

On the Yanks - many to choose from. Judge, Gardy, DJLM and others.

On the Giants - Daniel Jones. Some personal connections, albeit indirect, but I am really rooting for the guy.
Saquon on the Giants

DeGrom, Alonso, and I have to give some love to Jeff McNeil, too.
As far as starting pitchers goes,
BlueLou'sBack : 1/24/2020 11:24 pm : link
that year Ron Guidry was unhittable and went 25-3 or so, he was my favorite athlete.

For more than his exploits on the field, too.

Yeah, Guidry was great that year. I wouldn't be shocked if Gerritt Cole has a similar type of season this year. Beyond pumped for him and the Yankees this season. Cole is gonna dominate.
Judge

Right now. Love everything about this kid and think he’s the !ets next captain

Ryan Connelly as favorite giant now.
Gotta be Saquon for me
Leg of Theismann : 1/25/2020 5:08 am : link
I'm all in on Jones, but obviously he doesn't quite have that place in my heart yet, I'm cautiously optimistic about his trajectory.
And honestly outside of the Giants I'd say Kawhi Leonard
Leg of Theismann : 1/25/2020 5:12 am : link
is my favorite athlete. I love that he worked so hard to create himself as the player he is today, and I actually love his "cyborg"-like personality lol.

I saw someone post the other day about the fact that Kawhi took down the Heat dynasty (with the Spurs), took down the Golden State dynasty (with the Raptors), and then he turned down going to the Lakers and creating the ultimate super team (instead decided to sign with the Clippers), so now there are no super teams or dynasties left; hence Kawhi is the "stabilizing force" in the universe.

I also think it's so funny he went to L.A. to play in the same city and arena as Lebron and potentially win a championship, and has already gone in taken over Lebron's house and beaten him twice in what was supposed to be "the King's" arena. Lebron low key has to be more pissed about that than he's let on.

if he decides that he wants to play The Masters this year at the age of 80, he might still win it. (I kid....but I love the Golden Bear)
In football, Saquon.

Right now, not one player I root for has done anything to earn it. I like Aaron Judge a lot, super easy to root for, along with Gleyber but I need a title to really care these days about individuals. I really want to like Saquon more than I do but I want to see more attitude on the field. Daniel Jones is winning me over, but see Saquon for now.

Allisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, TAA and Andy Roberston are my favorites right now from Liverpool. All relentless, smart, skilled and they have won a title
Gleyber. Judge
