Outstanding character on and off the field
Elite and clutch production
Durability and toughness- guys that miss games irk me
Team leader that can rally the troops
An aside, I’m a 42 year old Giants/Mets fan so it’s tough seeing Eli and Wright retire over the past few years, but I feel like they’re backed up pretty well with DeGrom, and potentially/hopefully Daniel Jones.
I'll go with Panarin on the Rangers. I'm not the biggest hockey maven on BBI but I just love watching this guy - forget his stats, he organizes the team's play and makes his teammates better. And he's a wizard with the puck.
In soccer, right now I'll go with Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich's keeper. Not the sexiest choice but as with Panarin - he organizes his team and makes his teammates better, and is skilled enough to be the 11th field player.
In hoops .... blech. No one right now.
On the Yanks - many to choose from. Judge, Gardy, DJLM and others.
On the Giants - Daniel Jones. Some personal connections, albeit indirect, but I am really rooting for the guy.
that year Ron Guidry was unhittable and went 25-3 or so, he was my favorite athlete
Yeah, Guidry was great that year. I wouldn't be shocked if Gerritt Cole has a similar type of season this year. Beyond pumped for him and the Yankees this season. Cole is gonna dominate.
is my favorite athlete. I love that he worked so hard to create himself as the player he is today, and I actually love his "cyborg"-like personality lol.
I saw someone post the other day about the fact that Kawhi took down the Heat dynasty (with the Spurs), took down the Golden State dynasty (with the Raptors), and then he turned down going to the Lakers and creating the ultimate super team (instead decided to sign with the Clippers), so now there are no super teams or dynasties left; hence Kawhi is the "stabilizing force" in the universe.
I also think it's so funny he went to L.A. to play in the same city and arena as Lebron and potentially win a championship, and has already gone in taken over Lebron's house and beaten him twice in what was supposed to be "the King's" arena. Lebron low key has to be more pissed about that than he's let on.
Right now, not one player I root for has done anything to earn it. I like Aaron Judge a lot, super easy to root for, along with Gleyber but I need a title to really care these days about individuals. I really want to like Saquon more than I do but I want to see more attitude on the field. Daniel Jones is winning me over, but see Saquon for now.
Allisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, TAA and Andy Roberston are my favorites right now from Liverpool. All relentless, smart, skilled and they have won a title
All in.

I am right there with you Lou!
Gerritt Cole
Gleyber Torres
Aaron Judge
Klaatu! Bringing the lulz!
Gleyber
Saquon
I wouldn’t be surprised if you ask this question 2 years from now Jones is at the top of my list.
Kakko
Ronald Acuna
Frenkie de Jong
Saquon

For more than his exploits on the field, too.
Jacob deGrom

Ryan Connelly as favorite giant now.

Among the Giants - Saquon

You picked a Met. The bar doesn't get any lower.
