Minor change under Joe Judge. Sam Coad was hired as Performance Manager/Assistant Strength coach. The strength and conditioning program remains run by Aaron Wellman, extremely well respected who has now stretched to three coaching regimes.

This suggests Joe Danos was fired.

Not with the million coaches we currently have. Maybe they made another position. Just being funny.

and Aaron Wellman worked together at the Univ of Michigan in 2014.

we actually still have a bunch of vacancies.
That’s a lot of coaches in the building...
GloryDayz : 1/25/2020 10:49 am : link
Is that standard across most of the NFL? I mean position coach of course, but we seem to have more assistants than the norm.

I’m not even sure what a “performance manager“ does to be honest.

Puts a little hole in the Giants FO/ownership are “cheap” argument.
Danos
YANKEE28 : 1/25/2020 10:49 am : link
was already on staff when Aaron Wellman was hired.

It seems to me that Eric is correct and Wellman has been allowed by Judge to replace Danos with his own guy (Coad).

We don't have all of the details, but Shurmur had more coaches. Two DB coaches, two LB coaches, etc.

Yeah, that is what is funny to me. Don't get me wrong because I like it. It just seems like he is throwing new titles around to some of these guys to make them sound more important or feel better about their positions.

What are we missing? ILB? TE? Possibly another DB coach? DL?

Did Pierce make it to NY or was he still in Arizona in that video clip to Eli? If he was in NY I would hope there was an interview set up. We have heard a couple of names potentially for TE but nothing seems finalized.

We're definitely missing a TE coach and most teams have an "offensive assistant" as well (that was Ryan Roeder).

We don't know the DL coach (or 2 if we have 2) and inside linebacker coach. Most teams also carry two defensive back coaches now and a "defensive assistant".

But beyond all of this, I would be shocked to see a coach with a title we are unfamiliar with. Belichick had some of those guys.
btw

Coad is Australian. Has a big rugby background.
I'm glad to see Wellman stay.

I found an interview with him recently where he went into great detail about how he prepares and he's the real deal as far as being up to date on the latest. I'll actually post a breakdown on BBI in a few weeks as things die down because it has tons of great info. I"m not surprised that Judge came away impressed by him.

Looks like they have worked together on research too...

National signing day

Eric I have to wonder if we have deals mostly in place with college coach’s who’ve agreed to stay on until national signing day (feb 3rd)—May be an explanation why there’s so little info out there on a few coaching vacancies like DL coach
I'd like to see us poach from the 49ers defensive assistants

Their club has done a great job on that side of the ball. Especially their D-line.

Yeah, because they have top tier talent there. Nobody was saying that last year before Bosa got there. Armstead and Buckner weren't performing how they should have been prior to this year. They expected more.
And don't forget about the trade they made with KC
robbieballs2003 : 1/25/2020 1:55 pm : link
to get Dee Ford either.

Same exact title Joe Danos had.
Cool

I don't think I knew that. It didn't ring a bell.
I'm glad to see Judge expanding the staff
Jay on the Island : 1/25/2020 6:31 pm : link
It was very frustrating having Shurmur as the HC/play caller and Shula as the OC and QB coach. There is no salary cap for a coaching staff so there is absolutely no excuse to have a short staff.

If I remember correctly they have a trained martial arts expert on staff that works with the linemen on hand fighting techniques. That’s the type of next level thinking I’d love to see.
