It's interesting that these numbers will be retired together (though probably at different ceremonies) this year.
Eli's #10 is tied with Phil Simms #11 as the most frequently worn retired number at 20.
Here are the 19 players who wore #10 prior to Manning:
Ed McGinley 1925
Swede Nordstrom 1925
Joe "Doc" Alexander 1926
Charles Corgan 1927
George Murtagh 1929
Hal Hilpert 1930
Corwan Artman 1931
Tom "Potsy" Jones 1932
Mickie Kobrosky 1937
Len Barnum 1938-40
Lou DeFilippo 1945
Howie Livingston 1946-47
Henry Schichtle 1964
Fran Takenton 1967-71
Brad Van Pelt 1973-83
Bo Almodobar 1987
Kent Graham 1992-94, 1998-99
Tom Rouen 2002
Jeff Feagles 2003
It's possible that number could increase to 21. There are two players from 1930 & 1937 who I have by last name only who may have each played one game for the Giants in each of those seasons, but I need to confirm them before declaring them as official. Players were transient during in the early era and record keeping wasn't always thorough.
On the flip side, Strahan's #92 is tied with Al Blozis' #42 the least worn retired number for the Giants. The only other player to ever wear it was Jeff Tootle, a strike replacement player from 1987 who wore it for three games.
What about Swede Nordstrom? He’s got a great return policy....
Henry Schichtle 1964
Fran Takenton 1967-71
Brad Van Pelt 1973-83
Bo Almodobar 1987
Kent Graham 1992-94, 1998-99
Tom Rouen 2002
Jeff Feagles 2003
Is this confirmed that #92 will be retired? Where are you getting this from?
Also, has anyone else confirmed if #10 will officially be retired (beyond just Mara giving Eli his word that no Giant will wear #10 again)?
Scab player
Also, three players wore #32 - Tommy Tomlin 1926 and Len Younce 1941 before Blozis, so #92 was only worn by Strahan and Tootle.
