Minor note on the upcoming NFL Draft

YANKEE28 : 1/25/2020 7:01 pm
Each year, State Farm has an All Star challenge for the players eligible for the draft that are considered to be the best all around athletes at various football positions.

The competition has gone on for about the past 20 years and involves a variety of timed skill events.

This year it is Friday night, January 31st at 9 pm on ESPN2.

I mention this because the Giants have ended up drafting players that participated in prior years. Last year it was Julian Love and Oshane Ximines. In the prior year it was Will Hernandez.

I don't know what his NFL position will be, but it will be fun to watch Bryce Perkins this year. He is the younger brother of former Giant RB Paul Perkins and is just an incredible athlete. He was the QB at Virginia the past 2 years. Not sure he has a future as an NFL QB, but he certainly could make any offense much more dangerous. I think some NFL team will draft him on Day Three and find a way.

Here is a list of this years players:

Team ACC

Cam Akers, RB, Florida State
AJ Dillon, RB, Boston College
Bryce Perkins, QB, Virginia
Jason Strowbridge, DL, North Carolina

Team Big Ten

Zack Baun, LB, Wisconsin
Yetur Gross-Matos, DE, Penn State
KJ Hamler, WR, Penn State
Nate Stanley, QB, Iowa

Team Big 12

Ross Blacklock, DT, TCU
Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
Carter Stanley, QB, Kansas

Team Pac-12

Salvon Ahmed, RB, Washington
Bradlee Anae, DE, Utah
Anthony Gordon, QB, Washington State
Eno Benjamin, RB, Arizona State

Team SEC

Nick Coe, DE, Auburn
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Terrell Lewis, LB, Alabama
Riley Neal, QB, Vanderbilt

Team “Wild Card”

Harrison Bryant, TE, Florida Atlantic
Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir-Rhyne
Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Curtis Weaver, DE, Boise State

his vert at one of the Nike combines in HS was like 45 inches or something crazy like that. I think he also had a sub 4.5 40 at over 200 pounds.
was off by a little bit he ran a 4.44 and had a 40.6 vert at 210 lbs

GBN has him at #134 on their big board, if he's there in the 4th round that'd be an interesting option for the 4th rd. He's not just an athlete either, he runs very tough. Was basically the only guy anyone worried about on a garbage fsu team.
Cam Akers posts crazy numbers at Nike Opening Regional - ( New Window )

mention that this Friday, January 31st is when the players will learn if they have been invited to the NFL Combine.

For those of you that follow the NFL Draft, some TV to watch and some Combine news.

With the Combine invites, its also interesting to follow the 5-10 players that were expecting an invite, but were not invited. Seems every year there are a few non invite surprises.
