Alton Robinson, DE, Syracuse

Giant4Life : 1/26/2020 7:01 am
Two very impressive sacks in the Senior Bowl, including one against Jalen Hurts, showing a great closing burst. A lot of d-linemen get close, but don't get the sack. Alton Robinson has a burst to finish off a sack.

Did Alton Robinson play himself into the first round yesterday? He was my target for the Giants' 2nd round pick after I heard we met with him, but know I think he may not be available.

Saw him often at Syracuse. Good talent, plays hard and does not take plays off. Do not see him in the first round but late rounder in my opinion. Of note, on a poor defensive team, he really stood out and this despite double teams often.
Hell of a backstory.

Hope his troubles are all behind him now.

Interestingly, this article mentions the 49ers also interviewed him at the Senior Bowl, and they know d-line talent. Maybe he goes there at #1. After his performance at the SB, I bet a lot of teams wished they had interviewed him. If it weren't for an offensive holding penalty, he would've had three sacks.

That backstory is concerning, it happened twice.

I don't want to hear from him that he was cleared, but rather that he made mistakes and he's trying to learn from them.

On the flip side of that, I am getting more and more enamored with OT Josh Jones. He easily handled Robinson in that 1 on 1 matchup.
