And, of course, UConn wins men's national basketball championship in 1999. Didn't mind the 2004, 2011 or 2014 NCs either and still enjoyed falling short in the 2009 Final Four.
I was a student at UNLV

and the Championship season was amazing. I can't put it up there though because I have such a sour taste from what happened the next year. I really think the fix was in for the Duke game. I had a class with Larry Johnson and never saw him once in class after day one.
Eli GW drive SB 42
Chris684 : 2/4/2020 2:22 pm : link
Eli to Manningham 46
Norwood wide right

Arnott Stanley Cup winning goal in against Stars 2OT
Allan Houston hits runner in the paint against Miami
Tynes kicks GW in frozen NFC title game in GB
In no particular order:
Big Blue '56 : 2/4/2020 2:23 pm : link
-1970 Game 7 Willis Reed game

-1970 Game 5, same championship series amazing home win with DeBusschere, Stallworth, Hoskett taking turns guarding Chamberlain with Willis out and Bowman having fouled out.

-Tynes NFCC GW FG

-JPP FG block against the Cowboys in 2011, keeping us alive for Playoffs/SB run

-Messier Game 6 guarantee against the Devils, staving off elimination, propelling us to 1994 Cup

-Craig fumble via Howard hit and LT recovery, ultimately sending us to SB

There are a bunch more, but these immediately popped into my head
Your choices in the OP certainly include many of mine -

I might include Roger Maris' 61st HR (that was a huge deal at the time), Bobby Richardson snagging Willie McCovey's screamer to end the '62 WS, the Jets' win over the Colts in SB III, and the Knicks beating the Lakers again in '73.

That's without even getting into hockey or soccer...

Ali Frazier...Boxing, forgot boxing. I have good one. My father was a telecommunications worker. Him and his friends got us the closed circuit feed of Foreman vs Ali. Everyone was rooting for Foreman...to kill Ali. The room was in heaven for most of the fight. I was the only Ali fan. I stood up in front of all the adults at the end of the round before ALi knocked out Foreman and told them it was going to happen next round. The adults laughed at me, gave my father all kinds of grief.

When Ali knocked out Foreman you could hear a pin drop in the room. Everyone just left without really saying a word. Boy did I give it to them as they were leaving. My father sat speechless in a chair for 10 minutes before he could even speak. Finally after everyone was gone he asked me how I knew. I told hem there were fights all the time at school and Ali was like the kids that fought bigger kids but just would not give up. Some kids act they would rather die than lose. I told him Ali was like that. I was 6.

great sports moment for me:

Burrell to Tate George buzzer beater for Uconn to beat Clemson to make it to the Elite 8 in 1990.

Big picture, such an improbable play that didn't result in the biggest payoff (a championship) but that play really put Uconn basketball and Jim Calhoun on the map.

I was friends and high school classmates with Scott Burrell so for me it was a little extra special seeing the freshman Burrell contribute to the ascension of what became a NCAA basketball powerhouse from basically a program that was really an after thought.

I believe that Saints game was on a Sunday night on ESPN. I want to say the it was Theisman and Mike Patrick in the booth...? Maybe one other...?

Beyond the sacks, I think Taylor had close to 15 tackles and probably another 7+ pressures. Maybe two forced fumbles...Just an absolute beauty of a game. The sideline shots of LT on the sideline getting the shoulder wrapped was the thing of greek gods...

I lost my voice yelling when he tied it up.

I was at Game Two of the '95 ALDS which he won with a two run shot in the bottom of the 15th. It was past one am in the rain. That was a crazy game.

Another moment from that game was Mattingly going back to back with Reuben Sierra. When Mattingly hit that home run it was bedlam in the old Yankee Stadium. Lou Pinella pulled the Mariners off the field for their safety. Everyone just loved Mattingly and that was his first and only post season shot. It was a long drought for the Yanks.

Saints game. I actually cried when I heard Parcells describe that game. Tynes was big... Leyritz was clutch.

Game was Nov 27th, 1988.

That game 6 of the 86 World series didn't make more of these lists.

Seriously. Where are the Mets fans? That Billy Buckner error is #2 for me, right after the helmet catch.

You all reminded me of some wonderful things that I had not forgotten but had faded. Just reading about them brought those moments to life again. I could hear the calls and see the moments. . Do you feel the community of this? Some of the petty bickering we have is silly. We have so much more in common than we have in differences. I see you.

that for me is near the top of a very average but fun amateur sports career and is Al Bundy-esque.

Hamden High vs Notre Dame, CT state high school hockey division 1 championship game in March of 1989. 1 - 0 Hamden victory.

Yours truly didn't factor in the scoring, but I was instrumental in a 5 on 3 PK late in the 3rd and helped a stifling Green Dragons defense hold the Green Knights to 9 total shots on net to seal the W and let the celebration ensue.

played a little in college, and in men's league for almost 30 years, but my peak was high school, lol.
A few noted some golf memories but the best one

the nod to Chris Chambliss...

But I would have to include Tuck forcing Brady into an intentional grounding throw in SB 46 to open the scoring 2-0 for the Gmen.

How many football games start with the score of a safety?

And vs Tom Brady? Epic moment.
