for a damning quote or two against the Giants. Since, you know, he gave so much to the team and got so little in return...
Quote:
“They stuck to their old ways of doing things at a time when football is changing,” former Giants offensive guard Geoff Schwartz said. “It just feels like they don’t have a plan. It’s hard when things are going really well to decide that you need to do something much different.”
He is going to be making moves with tons of cap space to save his job instead of doing whats best for the long term benefit of the team . He has done a terrible job since coming here .
And the worst part is once he is fired , a new GM is going to have judge forced on him as his coach whether he wants him or not . Mara is so clueless
so they fire him and bring in someone who doesn't get to pick his own coach?
Perfectly said.
Judge is a first time HC at any level. Zero leadership experience at the highest level. And we have a roster full of holes. So expecting very much in 2020 is firmly in the wishful thinking zone...
So thinking we are going to vastly improve with an extra year of Gettleman's wildly inconsistent and unpredictable management is ludicrous...
we have NO IDEA if this is true or not and probably wont ever sooooo can we stop with the "wow they are idiots for not firing him right away" or "why let him spend all our money in FA this year then"
PLEASE lets just wait and let it play out
RE: Seems like Geoff Schwartz is always quick to toss his hat in the ring Â
Nothing but the author's opinion presented as fact. Slater has absolutely no idea how Mara feels about Gettleman, nor does he have any idea how patient Mara will be with him.
So Mara calls other team executives after they beat our ass Â
and asks them to explain how it happened? And and an in-conference competitor, at that? SMH.
Quote:
And when things are going wrong, Mara likes to consult executives for teams the Giants just played, like Packers president Mark Murphy last season. Mara sometimes appreciates a fresh set of eyes, so he can figure out: Am I missing something?
And their ability to turn this franchise around. Slater from NJ.Com has written that Mara leans on his brother and nephew for advice. Chris Mara and Tim McDonnell. If so, I am really troubled by the front office folks getting this done.
So if we go 5-11 or 6-10, which is a very real possibility Â
DG is gone and any new GM has to agree with inheriting Judge?
I’m not buying it. That’s very Jet like.
I think DG has 2 years. If this isn’t a winning program by 2021, enough is enough with this cocksucker. It shouldn’t take more than 4 years if you have a fucking plan and a clue.
to potentially get rid of the GM after a rookie head coach completes his first season, and then look for a GM who's got to agree to retain Judge if he wants the job.

I've said this before when he was pro-Gettleman, and I'll said it now that he's knocking them - don't listen to Geoff Schwartz. He's just a Twitter troll with an NFL resume (and not an extensive one either).
Jerry Reese became the GM after Ernie Accorsi retired... Â
And kept Tom Coughlin as Head Coach. If Gettleman "retires" after the 2020 season, odds are that he'll be replaced by Kevin Abrams, who will no doubt keep Joe Judge as Head Coach.
we are well into our 2020 draft prep-even at the end of 2019 and his draft record is pretty good. Plus, I suspect he is planning to retire soon anyway and if he can lay a good foundation then a smooth transition it will be. If not, he is gone.
This draft and FA will be a defining moment for the Giants. Jones and Barkley are on board, Slayton, Lawrence, Baker, Xman, Love all show promise.
This draft could be our 1989 draft (assuming a trade down or mix in FA into that mix) and fill a lot of holes quickly.
Of this is true, than what you have is a coach who will likely be forced on a new GM. That is dysfunctional. I am not as concerned about DG as much as I am about the people running this franchise.
He trusts advisers he has known for years, too — like his brother, Chris, the Giants’ senior vice president of player personnel; and his nephew, Tim McDonnell, the team’s assistant director of player personnel. Mara highly respects McDonnell’s talent evaluating skills.
Mara still bounces ideas off Accorsi and former NFL GM Bill Polian: What do you see? What do you think we’re doing wrong?
Mara is a loyalist through and through; and he's still too naive to realize that the last two SBs were more good fortunate than those teams being on the cusp on long term success...
BTW, if this is true and DG is fired after a bad year, what happened to all those posters who thought we should let the coach approve the GM. Matt Rhule could do that but not JJ.
Gettleman isn't going anywhere. Mara defended him up and down and clear as day endorsed him.
Mara thinks Gettleman is doing well and thinks he has a solid plan.
Mara gave him a qualified endorsement- he mentioned misses on personnel and that Dave knows that we need to start winning. So, not so sure he survives another 4-5 win season. 7 wins and up he probably buys another year.

The Giants have brand new head coach, new defensive system, new offensive system, potentially 3 new starters on the o-line, a 2nd year QB, presumably several new defensive starters, a secondary with a number of 2nd year players -- 7 wins (+3 from this year) will be a huge success.
I'm waiting for Gettlemen to really screw up this offseason Â
Lmao

This is where the "they dont appear to have a plan" criticism comes from.
Wonder if the results will be any different?

Worked out for Steve Mills and the Knicks!
Why is this shit so difficult for Mara?

Not if the head coach picks the next GM.
Mara thinks Gettleman is doing well and thinks he has a solid plan.
Of Gettleman in the media.
They most likely post on BBI anonymously.
