Munchak was a Deciding Factor for Shurmur
The Broncos lucked out by hiring Mike Munchak to coach the O-line last year. It started as a head-coaching interview, though that hire went to Fangio. Munchak was interested in the head job initially for multiple reasons, not the least of which was the fact that his daughter and grandchildren had recently moved to Denver.

recall in MIN he had Sporano. Si piece mentions he had 3 offers, and Lock was another key in the decision. I personally wish him well

Mike Munchak

If he isn't the very best O-Line coach in the NFL, he is a Top 3 hands down.

Whoa, I really, really wanted this guy for Giants. Guaranteed he would have improved this unit even with its bottom-basement talent.

Mike Munchak is the real deal and he walked the walk and talked the talk as both player and coach.

It doesn't get any better than Mike Munchak!
having a competent OL coach was important to him?

Good luck to Pat

Wish him well.
He also said we (as in the Giants) really, really liked Drew Lock

Could be lip service, but still.

And of course it makes you wonder the alternate scenario where we take Josh Allen at 6, and either Drew Lock at 17 or in the second round.
Fuck Shurmur

He stuck with previously unemployed and unwanted Hal Hunter for 2 years here.

Shurmur springs off the Andy Reid coaching tree. He spent many years as an assistant under Reid in Philadelphia before striking out on his own.
emphasis mine.

I think he kinda has to say that now especially when that was a direct question :)
Too bad Murmur couldn't assemble a decent staff on his own...

or things might have ended differently.
Out here there aren't a lot of trumpet blares for him...

I think the name Shurmur carries more weight than Scangiarello. I actually think he can provide a big help to a young offense out here, and be more successful as a coordinator than a head coach.
Broncos are in a similar position as the NYG... but I think there's greater potential in NY. If Lock is good, they could make some noise, but too many free agents on a defensive side of the ball that is trying to maintain their identity.
Sigh
