so now we miss young by 1 pick? haha

ANY chance the lions fall in love with herbert or trade out? any chance they go for okudah over young?

All teams, especially those in the top ten, are discussing trade scenarios, what it would cost if they wanted to move up if so and so is or isn't still available when said team is on the clock. The Dolphins will have discussions at one point or another with all four teams ahead of them. It's called due diligence.
Dolphins want Tua

And seems they are worried that Detroit might take him

Of course, it’s just a rumor but at least it’s one that makes sense
This would

increase the odds of getting Young.
If Miami acquires the Redskins pick

All we then need is for the Lions to trade Stafford and we can start penciling Chase Young in on our depth chart.

Pre-hip injury, Ross was hot for Tua. Still might be depending on the medicals. He really wants Burrow. He has obviously greenlighted Grier to get their guy. Negotiating with Washington will be the fallback. If you have to pay to move up to #2, you might as well swing for the fences to move to #1. Miami has the draft capital to make either move. It is just a matter of whether the Bengals or Washington are willing to sell. Don't be shocked if Ross gets his guy at #1.

All season, it was “tank for Tua” for the Dolphins. Tua got injured once again, and Burrow emerged as the top QB. I could see the Dolphins trading up to #2 for Tua, to guarantee a top 2 QB. However, I can’t see them trading up to #1. They will have to give up even more assets. The price would be astronomical considering the Bengals need a QB as well. Giving up all the assets it would take the Dolphins to move to #1, and then having them select a QB with such an injury history could be a potential disaster. The Dolphins really stripped their team down and could use a ton of picks. If they do trade to #1, it is for Burrow IMO, not a QB who gets injured every year in college with a top OL

They have to ask so they know what other teams will have to pay and to compare to Detroit cost.

Apparently, I wasn't clear. My assertion is that Miami will make every effort to pick Burrow at #1. Gauging the cost to trade up to #2 is part of the due diligence. Also, they need to be prepared in the event the Bengals don't move off #1.

For Miami to move up to 2. I would take this rumor with a grain of salt. He's posted a ton of stuff like this and I don't think he's ever been right.

Those are the two that I would stay put for. Other than that, I am with everyone else in hoping for a trade back scenario.
Miami would have to make a massive offer ...
FStubbs : 2/8/2020 8:30 am : link
... and even then, I don't think Washington budges. Chase Young is a local guy and Snyder would like that, and Rivera would want the defensive superstar.

Miami would have a better chance working with Detroit on a trade offer.

Yeah, I was mostly agreeing with you, but I thought you meant when you said they would deal up to # 1 that they would get their guy,you meant either Tua or Burrow.

I agree 100% that if they do trade to 1, it will be for Burrow. I live in Dolphins country, and some Dolphins fans want them to build up the roster this year with all their picks and stick with Fitzmagic. Others are fine going Tua, but most of them I talk with are indifferent about him, as they have major concerns. I can’t imagine how bad the backlash would be if the Dolphins sold off Minkah, Tunsil, etc., obtained all that draft capital, and then used it on Tua. And then Tua has an injury riddled career, which could have easily been foreseen. The cost to get the #1 QB over #2 could easily be as much as another 1
And I think the

#1 QB is clearly Burrow over Tua. Trading up for #1 and selecting the #2 QB is way too risky, particularly because the biggest reason for the difference in the QBs is durability concerns

I wouldn’t call what he said disparaging, unless I missed something. I did see Ross day that he worries about Tua’s health and they would have to check out his health. He could be being honest on the issue, or he could be playing games. Who knows. Quite frankly, I could see the Dolphins passing on QB if the price is too high to move up, and using some 2nds this year, and other trades to accumulate additional 1st rounders next year.

Personally, I would do that if I were the Dolphins and I can’t get Burrow. I would stand pat at 5. If Tua falls, fine. If not, start building the team with the 3 1sts and 3 2nds. If trade opportunities for 1st rounders next year present themselves, pull the trigger. They have 2 1sts and 2 2nds, and could accumulate some ammunition to make a run at Lawrence/Fields. Admittedly though, I have huge concerns with Tua. If he can’t stay healthy playing on Alabama for 12 games in college, I don’t see how he stays healthy playing 16 games behind the Dolphins OL
Fat chance of landing Young even if Miami trades up
BlueLou'sBack : 2/8/2020 9:53 am : link
and grabs Tua at 2.

Because then Detroit takes Young.

Which leaves the Giants with Okudah, or Simmons, or my new flavor of the month Chaisson, ER from LSU.

Noticed he earned a 6.9 grade on the Combine invitee list, considerably above the ERs not named Chase.

Also for the Badger fans ER/LB Zach Baun earned a great grade.

I was very disappointed by what I saw from him during the Big 10 Championship game and the CFP. Seemed to me that if he did not win with his first move, he gave up. And on rare occasions did I see him chasing down plays from behind. Given the hype, I expected to see a lot more from him.

The upside is immense with Tua, no doubt. But the bust potential with his injury history is high as well. Dumping all your players for picks and trading the bulk of the high ones for someone that risky is a bold move. It could work out, or it could set the franchise back another few years and cost some jobs

think the Bengals take Burrow, and reject all trade offers, a la Gettleman when he was set on drafting Barkley.

I don't see Miami moving up to #2 for Herbert or an injured Tua. The cost would be too much, especially since they'd be asking the Redskins to miss out on drafting Young.

4, 3, 2, or 1.

I don’t see them moving up from 5. Early opinion on the draft, but I don’t see any team giving up picks to move up into the top 3 this year.

Certainly not with the veteran QBs available in free agency this offseason.
Young is not falling to the Giants

Unless he kills 11 orphans and 3 elderly while driving drunk on a boardwalk during a children's puppet show.

Not happening.

We had to go and win a couple meaningless games that did nothing but give some underperformed something to jump up and down about and go drop a grand on a celebratory dinner. Maybe get laid. Not talking about Eli here. But we got stomped on in the last game in NY that really mattered anyways as his going away game.

I will bet my current checking account balance the Gmen dont sniff a shot at Young and we end up facing him twice a year and hear about how miraculously wonderful he is the rest of the year.

I'm sick

Of course. I thought Robert Gallery was the pick the Giants whiffed on before, so guess that tells you what I know...

But just to be on the safe side I would avoid all puppet shows until after the draft.
