Stefon Diggs & Yannick Ngakoue eyeing NYG?

CromartiesKid21 : 2/8/2020 8:33 am
Or his Maryland teammate trying to get him paid?

Diggs just signed extension
ZogZerg : 2/8/2020 8:35 am : link
Don't know the details, but highly doubt he can moved by vikes.
Is that a way to show your picture and squirting emoji?
robbieballs2003 : 2/8/2020 8:37 am : link
Haha
I think Diggs was referring to Yannick going to NYG
superspynyg : 2/8/2020 8:44 am : link
Not himself
Yannick is likely going to be franchised
TheMick7 : 2/8/2020 10:04 am : link
.
More likely Diggs is giving a nod to Ngakoue's
BlueLou'sBack : 2/8/2020 10:08 am : link
several previous references to the Giants, than suggesting a move for himself no?
He’s a FA. Only one thing matters.
BillT : 2/8/2020 10:12 am : link
One guess what it is.
Nyg need Stephan diggs here
djm : 2/8/2020 10:12 am : link
Like I need another set of testicles. Yea it would be kinda cool, but in the end completely unnecessary and they would only get in the way.

Ngakoue is another story but it’s a pipe dream. He likely doesn’t escape Jacksonville this spring. Maybe next year if anything.

It’s obvious that Diggs was responding to Ngakoue and not referring to himself. Diggs just signed a 5 year deal and is signed through 2023. He’s not a FA.
This stuff with Ngakoue is really turning me off with the guy.
Klaatu : 2/8/2020 10:21 am : link
I don't know...it just smacks of him using the Giants to increase his leverage with Jacksonville.

On the flip side K, you've got to admit he's got a "made for the Giants at DE" name.

I hear his name in Pat Summeral’s voice.

Who cares? It has no effect on the Giants. If it ends up making the Jags panic and pay him more money, good. Indirectly, every team in the NFL that overpays for a player is good for the Giants in the long run.

I care, obviously, or I wouldn't have posted about it.

Why do you care if I care, anyway?
Ngakoue
NYFootballGiants : 2/8/2020 10:45 am : link
doesn't have to agree to the franchise tag if the Jags try that. He's already made it evident that he's apathetic toward staying there. Diggs is a really good receiver. I just don't know enough about him as a person. Seems like he has a bit of an attitude and I seem to remember him pouting about Cousins playing poorly and inferring he would prefer to be traded last year. We'd have to evaluate him, but if that's gonna happen here, Jones doesn't need it.

Hey, if you care about something this harmless that has less than zero negative effect on the Giants, feel free. I simply tried bringing some reality, but you’re apparently bothered by some strange things. Have at it my friend

Thanks, I will. I appreciate you allowing me to express my feelings on this message board, and giving me a vote of confidence in the process. That really means a lot to me. I sincerely hope I can justify your faith in me.

But if not, fuck off.

Exactly what it is
They have no Cap space
Bruner4329 : 2/8/2020 11:36 am : link
Right now they can't franchise him unless they clear some salaries. They are over the cap already so how can they franchise him with no space.
Usually I have no idea who the Giants will sign
Jim in Forest Hills : 2/8/2020 11:39 am : link
but I think they will sign Yannick. I think they will make him the highest paid DE in the league.

They literally have no zero space. They are actually in the red. You really think they are going to just cut a ton of guys to me room for him when he probably doesn’t even want to be there? Spells disaster to me....
Ugh excuse my spelling and grammar mistakes above.
Saquads26 : 2/8/2020 11:48 am : link
LOL but you catch my drift... They have money and he’s clearly excited about free agency and playing elsewhere. Doesn’t mean they can’t tag him, but that’s gonna get ugly and probably lead to a trade anyway.

I agree and I would be ok with it. He is very young and entering his prime. You spend money on players like this in free agency.

Would love to see Ngakoue
Glover : 2/8/2020 12:44 pm : link
in Blue. He's young, confident, productive, and has missed 2 games in 4 years.
His best football is ahead of him.
Would love it if the Giants could get him.

I think that’s exactly what they’ll attempt to do. As a Giant fan I hope it falls through. Kind of like when the tag was pulled from Vernon and the Jets let Harrison go to pay Wilkerson. Hopefully we get some luck this time around as well, and better results
Rumor has it
TommyWiseau : 2/8/2020 1:35 pm : link
That he wants a bigger market. Him coming to NY makes sense for what he is looking for. Jacksonville can franchise him but keep in mind, they need the money to sign 2 first round picks as well as the rest of their draft class. Plus they need a few million for in season moves. As it stands they are 1.5 mil over the cap. They would need to create 30ish million to franchise him, sign their draft picks and have cash left over for offseason moves

Completely disagree. Every time a player gets overpaid, the market price for their position increases. Other teams have to deal with the goal posts being moved when singing free agents and re-signing their own guys. Look what happened to WR contracts after that Watkins deal. Or QBs since Kirk Cousins. Other teams overpaying might leave us more cap room than them for other players, but it means everyone else is going to ask for more. This is how we got to a point where Leonard Williams can ask for $15m per year and Dak can reportedly ask for $40m.
The Jags
LakeGeorgeGiant : 2/8/2020 6:48 pm : link
would have to clear a tremendous amount of cap space just to tag him and still be able to sign draft picks and field a team.

..and all this to sign a guy that doesnt want to be there.

What is the cap number for DE?
Rjanyg : 2/8/2020 10:03 pm : link
It’s gotta be around $21 Million.
no idea whether or not he's a fit for Judge/Graham but getting him
Eric on Li : 2/8/2020 10:33 pm : link
would be like adding an extra first round pick. 24 year old double digit sack guys don't come around that often.

He's got 14 FF, 37.5 sacks, 42 TFL, 2 INTs, 85 QB hits, and just 2 missed games in 4 years in the NFL. Chase Young would sign for those numbers 4 years from now.
