we have had in a long time?
Of course we really don't know much about Judge yet but the rest of the crew has me feeling A LOT better about our future.
I think some of these guys may not have come cheap either so give some credit to Mara who must have opened the wallet.
If not, they'll be shitty.
Was about to say. We haven't even been through FA and the draft yet and people are already predicting "best in a long time" things for this team.
Similar to the way we've saw so many people say things like "Gettleman delivers best draft in a long time, what an upgrade from Reese" before any of the picks even played an NFL down yet.
Let's just see how this plays out.

Which defensive coaches are weak to you? Spencer does not appear weak, Bielema does not appear to be weak, Sherrer does not appear to be weak. Henderson comes with decent credentials?! The new DC appears to be questionable to me, however he was Judge’s first choice and Judge appears to have done extensive background work on all hires, even those he knew it appears. It will be interesting to me to see the dynamics of how they work together and a brand new DC at work, as well.

In my opinion the DC is questionable, Bielema is an idiot, and most of the rest have primarily (or only) college experience. I'd say there are a lot of question marks. Compare this to Garrett and Columbo for example, who both have had years of NFL success in their roles
DC - Graham vs. Spags (or Fox). This one is tougher. I like the scheme evolving to fit the players better, but Fox was a really good DC and Spags had his high points. Graham is the highest upside, lowest floor coach on the staff.
ST & Strength coaches (same)
Position Coaches - this is where I think there's a different mix than we've ever had before. More former HC's, more college guys, more belichek/saban guys, many still young and all highly thought of. This is where the staff is very intriguing.
The hire is distasteful to me.
But I'm not sure he is a football idiot.

Granted, I agree with you 100%. As you state we arent sure it's a bad hire from a football point of view, just as we arent sure it's a good one either. It just adds to my thinking the staff as a whole has a lot of question Mark's
Bad HCs usually make for good asst coaches and you are being very unkind to Garrett. He was far from bad in Dallas. He helped turn them around. Dallas was a joke at the end of wade Phipps tenure.
Kitchens is not a HC. And dying Garret sucks because he couldn’t control his boss is a stretch again as he’s not the HC. Unlike McAdoo who just wasn’t close to qualified you won’t find one sane person who thinks those two aren’t qualified for their respective slots on this staff.
You would be just about the only person who is saying that. Kitchens like McAdoo shouldn’t have been a HC. Garrett’s knocks aren’t about him not understanding offense. You don’t have to love them but they are a shit ton more qualified than a lot of the guys we’ve cycled through

Do you think Belichek would of hired him if he was a lousy football coach? Regardless of his personal life, he’s shown to know Football and he was a pretty damn successful HC in College Football, as well. I trust Judge when he says he’s turned over every stone on these hires. Time will tell, but I’m pretty excited to see how it all transpires before coming to conclusions.
I tend to agree that the offensive side looks excellent and that the defensive side is questionable. I think that we just do not know anything about Patrick Graham as a DC. He is the true unknown.

I see no reason to give Bielema any benefit of any doubt. If he proves he's not really a scumbag, and can actually be a decent coach of some kind at the NFL level, ok. However time will tell, and we don't know if he will or not, so until this happens he is a huge question mark. Personally I expect to see him at one of the local strip joint establishments by October.

This is a very odd take. Just because he's made some questionable personal decisions doesn't make him a bad Football Coach, who by the way, was very successful as a Head Coach at Wisconsin. Belichek thought highly enough of this guy to bring him on the staff as an advisor. Anyway, we'll see how things shake out.
The last two times..
Gidie.. well, first I am not positive just like everyone else. I just thought this MAY be a group with a little more experience than we had in our recent past.
Also, I am a realist and if my prior comments about the team was not so enthusiastic, they were warranted. I am the type of person who typically wants to see it first before I start believing it.
What exactly should we have been enthused about? I made plenty of positive comments about Barkley and Jones. I supported OBJ trade, letting Collins go and also the trade for Peppers.
