They are probably not a playoff team at this point but they give good effort almost every night and are fun to watch. Up 2-0 going into the third, Shesterkin is having another good game in Winnipeg.
(I like the old spelling (: ), the Kreider story is giving Igor a big run for his money. The love, yes, the dynamic relationship between Kreider and Zib, the closeness of the linemates over all, adding Buch into the mix, how do JD and Gort just throw that over board? If they really are going to decide to ship Kreider out, it better be one whale of a package.
as everyone would want to keep Kreider, what are the chances the team ends up regretting the last 2-3 years of the deal? It seems like nearly every long term deal the Rangers get themselves into ends really badly on the back end, or sooner in some cases. Or is this just what happens with most long-term deals around the league?
To the Bruins for Jake Debrusk and their 1st round pick, that is what I am hearing the Rangers are asking, I don't think that is a trade the Rangers could pass on, no matter how tight they are. In this draft too, that is the same type trade they made when they got Zibanejad and a 2nd for the just as popular and more talented Brassard.

Paul - I also read that somewhere but I think they look at DeBrusk as untouchable. I don't necessarily agree but a comment was made that the Bruins trading DeBrusk would be akin to the Rangers trading Kakko.

Would be a terrible and stupid trade for Boston.
Trade a 23 year old with 34 points who is a pending RFA for a 28 year old with 40 points in the best season of his career who is a pending UFA?
And throw in a 1st?
If the Rangers get that, great for them, I'd love to see it because I hate the Bruins, but I doubt it.
Team is fucking up a draft pick (unless we jump about 8 spots again like last year !) but we have the stars we need, just need more solid Dmen and wings which you can probably get 10–12 overall anyway.
Artemi Panarin had a goal and an assist, giving him a team-leading 76 points in his historic first season on Broadway. The Russian winger became the first Ranger to reach the 75-point mark in a season since Marian Gaborik in 2011-12. He also joined Mark Messier (1995-96) and Jaromir Jagr (2005-06) as the only Rangers in the past 40 years to reach 75 or more points in the team’s first 56 games.
RE: Definitely a bit sketch on that Panarin so goal Â
Yes, that was against MTL, I saw it. Marchand is a great player, who is a major douche bag.
Also saw Tkachuk's. I remember all the draft day hate on here for both Tkachuk's. I'd love either of them on my team. Both look like 70/80 pt players with grit.
I'm also stunned the way he's developed offensively.
Yeah, both Tkachuk's are incredible.
I can't complain about that draft too much. I wanted Zadina or Tkachuk, but Zadina is considered bust material in DET - and being honest I probably wanted Zadina over Tkachuk. Kotkaniemi has flashed, but after an 18-year old season in MTL, he's in Laval (AHL) this year. I love how he's bulked up, but he needs his legs to match now.
Svechnikov would probably be the #1 pick in a re-draft. Not getting that pick was really unfortunate. Zadina was the guy I remember (based on my intense reading of online profiles) wanting the Rangers to get.
Of course my initial thought to this is "who's getting traded?" I wasn't expecting a Keane call-up this year. Interesting to see what they do. I can't imagine they called him up to sit him in the press box, looks like Smith goes back to healthy scratch tonight.
He does. He missed yesterday's game because of the flu. It could be due to DeAngelo, who got injured last night and I don't believe saw the ice during OT.

Oh yeah I forgot Tony got banged up on that hit in the third period. Hopefully that's not anything serious.
he seemed a little shaky early on with his positioning but kept the pucks he should have out of the net. The first goal did change direction but I didn't like his tracking or reaction, it was a saveable shot but certainly not an easy save to make.
This kid is the goods
What an impressive team victory
A real conundrum.

Incroyable!!

This team has a lot of fight. A fun watch.
There’s a shock.
The backbone of this franchise is there. Just keep drafting well and get a little luck injury wise one of these May’s please For once.
Fun game.
I'll be opening office hours to hear mean culpas on Quinn and the pace he's got this team playing rn.
Fun game.
A bit hard to tell cause he difted to his right -- not 90 degrees but not 'obviously' back.
Don't know what the rule says and I think it's a silly rule

Quinn deserves so much credit for having Panarin play elite hockey. No coach has ever done that before.
Panarin was definitely in a gray area.
I think the NHL will close that "lateral" loop hole.
good footwork though.
yeah, but seeing Brad Marchand embarrassed by missing the puck at center ice and losing the shootout for his team was worth it.
Seriously though, I'd like to see OT extended to avoid a shootout altogether.
Tkachuk also had an awesome goal the other night.

Hopefully Igor's ankle is GTG tonight.
