Good news - Bret Bielema staying with Giants

Eric from BBI : Admin : 2/12/2020 7:09 am
BREAKING: #CU coach Mel Tucker has agreed in principle to become the new head coach at #MichiganState, per sources. After Tucker turned down initial interest, MSU power brokers came back repeatedly to Tucker’s reps w/ an offer that was impossible to ignore
Hope this guy...

Can stay focused on the job at hand. I was actually looking forward to the prospect of Antonio Pierce coming on board :)
Good news?

Guy understandably wanted to jump-ship to a HC job, it doesn't work out and he's stuck here after showing his ass. If I were him, I'd be [sarcasm]thrilled.[/sarcasm]
With most coaches, I would be pleased if they desired and were

candidates for a college HC instead of a pro position coach.

Not sure with this guy because of his history.

over the years, maybe we should not be so selective. In that we likely do not know what a good coach is.

Maybe Schiano will hire this guy at Rutgers

They have a strong frat system with lots of parties, he'd like it there
That's a major disappointment to the majority of the board

Why would..

anyone question the chance to become a head guy at a major college program vs. being a position coach??

I'd question somebody who said they weren't interested in the position.
MSU reportedly offered Tucker

double his existing salary of $2.7M at CU.
I have no idea what his salary with the Giants is, but if the ballpark of the MSU job is $5.4M, then why wouldn't Bielema be interested?
I'd sure look at a job that was 5-10 fold my existing salary.

Agreed. Now that he's definitely here, it's in his interest to stay focused on his job and do it well. If next offseason comes and he wants to jump ship, that's his business.

Why is this good news?

Minor point here but Is it good news that we traded for Williams, or traded Jenkins? I get that it's news, but why is it good news?

We have no idea which coaching hires or player or personnel moves are good.

The opinion of the OP is that it is good news. That is all. I would gather that he wants the coaching staff to stay together for a year or so and not changing coaches or start new searches as there is a lot of analysis and planning to do.

If you are thinking it is not good news, that is your opinion. While we all have to wait and see who will do a good job coaching, it is ok to express an opinion one way or the other.
