Would have been drafted as a freshman in high school last year over zion williams. Same build and game as durant.
Mike Schmitz seems to favor Wembanyama
"Even with 6-foot-9 phenom Emoni Bates dominating youth basketball in the U.S., Wembanyama might be the best long-term prospect in the world. He is undeniably a strong candidate to hear his name called No. 1 overall when the 2023 draft rolls around."
than hasn't had significant injuries? Particularly when you consider the build? Granted, he may be a unicorn, but his body just scares me. Not saying I wouldn't take him if the opportunity arises. Just that the best thing since Lebron seems overhyped.

right now the Clippers pick would be #25, but there are teams on both sides of them with similar records. It'd be great if they coasted a bit after the All-Star Break to make sure their big guns are healthy come playoff time.

He turned... 16 last month
Yes, first thing I said is that he has plenty of time to put on weight, and he desperately needs to.
I guess this is why I have a problem hyping a player that young with such body issues. He could develop physically like a Durant. Or he has time to sprout up a few more inches and could turn into a Manute Bol or Shawn Bradley
you asked if there's ever been a player this tall w/o injuries Â
dunking on mismatched high school kids. He did bank in a three which was at least a foot long. He may be great someday, but not sure how you evaluate that from the highlights. Off the highlights, he is a long way from being an NBA level player IMHO.
Does not look great, but top 3 seem like they will be very good NBA players with Wiseman/Edwards/Ball and possibly Cole Anthony.
Best shooter in the country that nobody ever heard of Nate Darling of U Delaware.
Saw Darling play against Nova and he was very impressive. The guy can clearly play and has a nice stroke.
I would love for the Knicks to come away with 2 or 3 good shooters from this draft. Sign VanVleet and they finally have some shooters.
My daughter goes to U Del, so I started watching their games. They started 7-0 or something, then came back to earth. Darling, if he gets his feet set, literally does not miss. I think he could have a NBA future as he has size. I think he is a junior, so potentially a 2nd rounder next year.
I am aware that happens all the time. This kid is 7'2". I am asking if anyone knows of anyone that tall and skinny who hasn't had significant injuries.
Durant is 6'10", Shaq was 7'1" with a much larger build. Kareem had a lot more muscle.
As I said he could develop like Durant (the real Durant, not the fake picture), or he could sprout up a few more inches too, and be even taller and skinnier.
Awfully early IMO to be mentioning him as being even close to being the best since Lebron. Could it happen? Sure. But there is a wide number of variables on the outcome, made even wider by the number of different ways his body could develop.
He certainly will be an interesting player to watch develop.

Agreed. The Knicks look like a completely different offense when guys like Ellington or Bullock get hot from three-point range. Miller has them moving the ball and getting good looks, but it's brick after brick from RJ, Frank, Payton and most others.
Speaking to Bob Fitzgerald on KNBR, Durant put fact over fiction when answering the age-old question of how tall he really is. “Since I love you guys so much, I was recorded at 6’10” and three-quarters with no shoes, so with my shoes on I’m 7-feet,” Durant finally revealed.
Gobert is 7'1 and has played 82 games twice, 81 games 2 other times

Gobert has a lot more thickness. I don't remember him being on the radar when he was that young. You able to find any pics of him when he was that age? I couldn't on a quick search.
And again, Gobert is one thing - if the kid stays the same height. The danger for him physically IMO is him growing a few more inches and looking more like a Muresan/Bol/Bradley type. Solid players, Bradley especially, but not to be mentioned in the same breath as Lebron. Ming/Smits had thicker bodies.
This is the most obvious photoshopped pic I've ever seen in my life lol.
You didn't really think this was real, did you Dan?
Honestly? I found the real picture on twitter but it wouldn't copy and paste the code correctly on BBI (kept coming up blank) so I didn't really look at the "fake" one too clearly, was just looking for the same shot.

So, Durant is not 7 feet tall?
Yeah, I don't get it either. How are you 7 ft tall if you are only 7 ft tall with your shoes on? Since when is height measured with shoes on?
NBA heights we have heard up until this season were with shoes on. This season the NBA made a change.
Jordan, Bird, Shaq etc.. heights we know.... shoes on
“ That story did point out that Durant measured at 6-9 in bare feet at the draft combine, but that everyone else in the league generally relied on heights in shoes. More accurately, some used shod height, a few used barefoot height, and a bunch of heights were more public relations than measurement.”
All NBA official heights are in shoes, aren't they? Â
Dwight Howard’s phony height has been a poorly kept secret for his entire NBA career; he lost an inch and a quarter from 6-11 to 6-9.75 with the new heights. At least his Lakers teammate LeBron James has integrity on this one issue. LeBron’s longtime 6-8 was upgraded to 6-8.5 under the new rules.
The lying era was fun. Allen Iverson’s official height was listed at 6-1 for years despite being two or three inches shorter. He once got the Sixers’ PA announcer to introduce him at 6-2, which quickly became an infections idea: Eric Snow, who was probably more like 6-2 and listed at 6-3, asked to be introduced at 6-4.

That was always the dumbest thing. That would be like listing NFL players weights with pads and helmet
Garnett was still never even 7' tall at full growth. Wembanyama is 7'2" and just turned 16. Kid still could be growing. Again, I'm not going to say he's never going to make it to the NBA like other posters did.
I'm just saying that to make such bold statements as in putting him in the best since Lebron category is a little much for me before he is even fully developed, and we know whether he will have more of a Gobert-type body, or he will develop into Shawn Bradley type awkward height.
And that's not even getting into how the game is changed Â
the modern day NBA is not the days of Ewing, Olajuwon, and Duncan.
Big men are not as valued. Which was a better pick? Durant or Oden? Ayton was hyped (I liked Doncic best), but Doncic would have clearly been a better pick, as would have Young possibly.
Look what the Pistons traded Drummond for. Look what Capela was traded for. It's a huge task for this kid to live up to being even mentioned in the same breath as being the best since Lebron.
Somehow some way the NBA will make the Lakers get that pick
Come on, you know this is the year theyre going to win it. A year after Zion/Ja with no blue chips and a year before another loaded draft.
PS: Wasnt Emoni Bates the next lebron?

Shaq probably weighed more than this guy when he was 8

What about this guy's build is remotely close to Shaq, or even Kareem?

... Frederic Weis
ok … pretend I never said "Particularly when you consider the build"
... Frederic Weis
Weis was 22 and a pro in France. This kid is apparently the next big thing.

Giannis is an anomaly, I’ve never seen someone physically develop in the nba like he has

Both of those pictures of the Greek Freak show a lot more significant muscle tone than I've ever seen Wembanyama having.
