Big offseason for Jones
The_Boss : 2/13/2020 10:41 am : link
I like how he’s already initiated working with his guys. I would love to get 16 games from him this year with over 3700 yards passing and a nice tidy 2:1 TD to INT ratio AND a dramatic reduction of fumbles. Do that and we’re looking at a top 10-15 QB in year 2 (first as a full season starter). We really couldn’t ask for more.
Very excited to see these two grow together

As mentioned in the video, I think Garrett will do a lot to help in that growth as well.

Get the OL fixed and I think this offense can take off.

I hope we get Jones another deep threat at wr. Jones can throw the

deep ball. Another young deep threat who, like Slayton, is smart and has his head screwed on right would be a huge thing for this offense.

If you do decide to club your own nuggets, please videotape it and put it on twitter, thus completing the cycle!
I don't disagree with Scragger's comment
Rjanyg : 2/13/2020 11:37 am : link
Jones and Slayton had good showings in year one.

I would love to add a 2 way TE to this mix and maybe another WR.

Kaden Smith and Engram are a solid group but we need Engram to stay healthy. Tate, Shepard and Slayton are solid as well but a larger guy from the draft would be a smart move IMO.

Social media is full of clowns with no accountability or thought.

It's what enables the idiots to run around and make drastic claims. Look what happened when Jones was drafted. It fills the radio and TV sports media and these clowns eat it up.

What amazes me is the anger. When someone gets into it with me on Twitter, I can't help but sometimes look at the person's feed and I am constantly amazed how many people spend their day on Twitter just spewing venom in all directions. What a way to spend your life!

I'd love to add another outside threat and eliminate the redundancy with Tate and Shepard.

If Shep was more healthy, I suspect cutting Tate would be a serious consideration.

He already had a 2-1 TD to interception ratio, as a rookie. Peyton Manning threw 28 his rookie year. Brady in his first year as a starter (after sitting a year under a great coaching staff to learn) threw 12, the same as Jones (Brady had 2 fewer starts). And when you look at his picks, only one or two were because of bad reads. Most were because he was trying to make a play with his team behind. The fumbles is the biggest issue. Remember, he threw for more TDs than Murray, but in four fewer games.
When people compare Eli and Peyton Manning.
Klaatu : 2/13/2020 1:38 pm : link
It should be noted just how long Peyton played with Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Dallas Clark. Eli was a lot less fortunate with his WR's and TE's. I don't think any lasted more than four years with the Giants, most considerably less.

I hope Jones and Slayton can stay together, and stay healthy, for a long time.

Everyone keeps talking about the fumbles, but for me the biggest issue is pocket awareness. It's what leads to the fumbles, but even worse, it leads to injuries. I'm not sure how you teach a guy who has played football all his life to be more aware in the pocket. I think it's just a natural instinct that some have and others not so much.

Eli had an excellent corps of receivers, but the crew endured very high turnover. Shockey->Boss->Ballard->Engram, Toomer/Plax->Smith->Maningham->Nicks/Cruz->OBJ/Shep...

Peyton also had Edgerrin James far longer than Eli had any one lead dog RB.

But Peyton wasn't supported by good defenses quite like Eli was - at times.
And then
aGiantGuy : 2/13/2020 5:19 pm : link
He went to Denver and had two top 10 receiving options, with another great line.

I have to presume that Peyton was never shy about verbalizing to his front office how they should structure his team, while Eli took a more individual approach “controlling what he can control.” IQ vs EQ enacted. Not sayin it’s his fault though
...
Toth029 : 2/13/2020 6:08 pm : link
Eli had two defenses in the top ten in his NFL career.

Lets say Indy for Peyton. He had the support of top ten defenses 5 times.

They were #1 in 2007.

Twitter is where the BBI trolls go when they die
What does defense have to with it? Absolutely nothing.
Klaatu : 2/14/2020 8:01 am : link
It has nothing to do with Eli not being able to build a rapport, long-term, with his receivers, as Peyton did, because many of their careers were cut short due to injuries (Smith, Nicks, Cruz), age (Toomer) or stupidity (Burress). It's to Eli's credit that he was able play as well as he did for as long as he did with a constantly changing cast of characters and that includes his TE's, too.
