Who will be the first free agent the Giants signfrom another

Ira : 2/14/2020 9:02 am
team? My guess is Jack Conklin. He's very good, he's young and fits the teams needs like a glove.
No longer bother guessing
Big Blue '56 : 2/14/2020 9:05 am : link
Since Norwell, a DG draftee and a “lock” to come here for months, didn’t.
Yannick.
Diver_Down : 2/14/2020 9:05 am : link
If he hits FA (Jags unable to clear enough cap to accommodate the tag), he will be one of the first FA(s) to sign in the opening minutes when the ink can be put on the contract. I hope we are the team providing the ink and paper.
Is DeAngelo Williams
Dnew15 : 2/14/2020 9:11 am : link
a FA this year?

:) I kid...I kid...
Ted Karras, C/OG, New England.

Please God to this. He is the most worthy of a ridiculous contract because of the explosiveness, upside and his youth. He may actually want to be a Giants as well.

Vernon Butler to a big deal and the Williams crowd explodes.
I'll go with...

Just a hunch

but I bet the new-way Giants are looking to add lower cost pieces that fit the scheme like a glove - the Belichick way.

There will probably be at least one big signing (Conklin, Byron Jones, Ngakoue, etc.) along with keeping Williams and maybe Golden.

Whether the one big signing is first or not is a guess, but I assume if they are targeting a specific high-end player, he will be the first they sign in order to guarantee getting him and if I had money on the table, I'd guess Conklin.
Isn't it almost impossible not to be Leonard Williams?

That would be wild. Williams signs with another team, gets cut. Signs with Giants.
Almost as wild as wasting
LBH15 : 2/14/2020 9:57 am : link
a few draft picks to watch him play a few games for us.
I’d place money on Yannick
nyjuggernaut2 : 2/14/2020 10:21 am : link
even though I’m not a big fan on throwing a ton of money at a one-dimensional player.

Dark horse - Connor McGovern, the center from Denver.
Kyle Van Noy would be my guess
Eric on Li : 2/14/2020 10:29 am : link
he's a little bit older, but the Pats will likely let him walk like they do all their FA, he has a relationship with Judge, and I doubt he's extremely expensive or in demand.

Despite his age he may also be an ascending player as he's coming off a strong year, but teams do tend to be a little more careful with overpaying players from the Pats.

I think Judge will want a versatile LB who knows the system and KVN fits the bill, likely at a non-earth shattering contract (3 years 10m AAV?) compared to the other top tier pass rushers on the market who will get 2-3x that.

THIS makes a lot of sense!
Its a strong OT draft
Heisenberg : 2/14/2020 10:39 am : link
so I would guess that the first signing is on the defensive side of the ball.

Daryl Williams
I'm hoping we make a sneaky good move...
bw in dc : 2/14/2020 11:26 am : link
for Robert Quinn.
I'd say 3rd wave of FA they'll sign
micky : 2/14/2020 11:31 am : link
someone and they'll be done

Does it though? I thought the whole point of the scheme was that there wasn't one scheme, it was built around the strength of the players. In that case, wouldn't this be the tail wagging the dog?
Chris Jones. DE. KC

No, Norman will sign with the browns so he and Beckham can practice against one another.
Conklin is my top choice
JerryNicklebag : 2/14/2020 12:06 pm : link
From there:
Edge: Yanick / Fowler / Dupree /Armstead (Van Noy as a fallback/?)
CB: Byron Jones, James Bradberry
ILB: Joe Schobert, Corry Littleton
Fallback OT: Bulaga?

They need to spend on solid, young players with maybe to occasional older vet on a one or two year deal to allow development of youth behind them yet fill the immediate need.
Littleton would be a great fit. I'd love to see him in blue

My guess would be former Pats guys like Van Noy...
RomanWH : 2/14/2020 12:51 pm : link
But I really hope we consider bringing in Devin McCourtey. Former Rutgers stand-out, a 9-time team captain who has played at both CB and FS in the NFL under Little Bill's defenses. He would be able to do what Bethea was supposed to do: Provide adequate veteran play at FS while at the same time help develop the young secondary players we have. Moreover, it'll free up Peppers to play closer to the LOS. He can still play despite being 32 yrs old as evidenced by his 5 INTs, 7 PDs, 2 FFs, and 58 tackles combined while receiving 4 all-pro votes for the 2019 campaign. FS is a glaring hole that we've ignored for far too long and plugging in a guy who is a proven leader and more than competent at his job will definitely provide a big boost to our young secondary.
Jags just cut Bouye

Do you have a link? No mention on Jaguars twitter. No news on the bottom scroll on NFL Now. Even if they did release Bouye, it still isn't enough to tag Yannick. A release of Bouye only yields a cost savings of $11M.

I don't think it's official, yet, but it will probably happen sooner rather than later. Bouye, Marcel Dareus, Marqise Lee, probably all heading for the chopping block, from what I've read.
My Pick
BobsYourUncle : 2/14/2020 2:32 pm : link
Sean Lee... Bye Bye Alec... Lee is it until we finally draft a LB
I'd prioritize adding a vet CB with wheels
Torrag : 2/14/2020 2:47 pm : link
Our group is really young. They'll need someone to show them the way. There are actually a handful of good options on the market this year.
Joe Schobert
AdamBrag : 2/14/2020 3:05 pm : link
I think the Giants are going to prioritize players who: (i) the coaches are familiar with (ii) offer positional versatility (iii) are young. Schobert fits all three.

Byron Jones is another possibility.

Getting players after the first wave and bottom feeding worked for Reese until about 2010, then he started aiming higher out of desperation.
Yannick will probably be tagged
djm : 2/14/2020 8:57 pm : link
Conklin maybe... Conklin likely won’t be tagged. And the titans have two other big ticket guys that they will likely sign first.
I said it last year
djm : 2/14/2020 8:59 pm : link
I’ll say it this year. Watch out got another wild offseason filled with trades both here with the giants and around the nfl. NFL Trades are commonplace now.

Which vets could be traded is another story....
