Still, LOL
I'm not saying this report is accurate

but this would be a classic Gruden move. That man loves aging veterans.

Heís not chasing money, his ego is at stake and he wants to go somewhere he feels he will thrive and prove he can still play and without Belichick. Heís gonna go somewhere with a good line and weapons in place.

That said, it may not be THAT far-fetched, given that itís Vegas where star power draws.

Said that the Pats would offer Brady in excess of 30 million to keep him. So I'm not sure why he'd go for this deal.

100% disagree with this line of thinking.

Why would Brady feel he still has to prove anything? Heís the GOAT. He knows it. Everyone else knows it. After all these years of giving the Patriots a ďbargainĒ by signing smaller contracts, I believe heís looking to go somewhere where heíll be valued the most, regardless of the team situation. The Raiders are a very attractive option considering all the young talent on offense and the chance to be the face of the new look Las Vegas team. If he just cares about being in a situation where the team is already set in place, why would he leave NE? Even in a bad season they were still one of the top teams in the NFL.

I disagree. I think Brady wants a big paycheck.

more than Gruden. With all of the bad publicity about the new stadium, its location and lack of parking, cozying up to the resorts, Davis is desperate for something to sell seat licenses.

I have my doubts about Gruden, but heís not that dumb to think that allocating $30M to a 43 yr old QB who played pretty poorly last year is a good move.

He is not a 5 year 150 million QB with 60 guaranteed.

But he absolutely is a 2 year 60 mil QB with 35-40 guaranteed.
I see him shooting for a fully guaranteed deal
UConn4523 : 2/15/2020 12:06 pm : link
And at this point in his career itís highly unlikely that he can learn a new system and get another shot at a SB which is why if that was his goal heíd stay put. There isnít a team right now in the league that he can go to and be the favorite to win except maybe San Fran.

Heís never cared about a paycheck, why would they start now? His wife is worth $360 million, thatís not a concern. His ego and winning is.

Money is a considerable part of ego
UConn4523 : 2/15/2020 1:16 pm : link
and he canít actually go anywhere and end up being in a better position to win unless a team like San Fran cuts JG and signs him. He will be lucky to go 8-8 on the Raiders and if he was able to get into the playoffs heíd be playing on the road for 3 straight rounds, something that he isnít able to do.

If he leaves NE, itís all about the money and setting up his after football businesses,
I'll be happy to eat my words
Dave on the UWS : 2/15/2020 1:17 pm : link
but I think Brady is done (as he should be at 43). Anyone who signs him (including NE) to that kind of contract is just signing a name. He looked VERY pedestrian last year, and that will only get worse.

Money? I think he's more about another championship...

Brady has money and plenty of it. Guys like him are in it for the ring, the competition, the legacy.

Money is always a consideration, of course. But I think Brady will take less money to be put with a roster that can compete for a championship.

Smart business move, shit football move, especially long term. But it's a business first and foremost.
Without knowing the state of his relationship with Belichick...
Milton : 2/15/2020 1:42 pm : link
...it's impossible to truly speculate, because that's the wild card in the equation. If you assume that his relationship with Belichick is a non-issue, I think this is all about returning to the Patriots on a deal that maximizes his likelihood of remaining their starting QB for more than just the 2020 season. It's not about the money, it's not about proving he can win without Belichick, it's about signing a contract with the Patriots that ties them to him for at least two more seasons.

At least that's what makes sense to me. In the past, signing a team-friendly deal was no threat to his job security. It's no longer a given that he will be their starting QB in 2021, thus making it more important to him that any new contract ties the team's hands for at least two seasons. It doesn't need to be a record-breaking contract, just one with two fully guaranteed years on it. Or something like that.

I don't know what fake news you read, all PSLs in Allegiant Stadium (65,000) were sold out months ago. Everyone who lives in Las Vegas is excited about the stadium. Bad publicity, I don't know where you get that. Parking, yes, it is below the NFL guideline, but, Las Vegas seems to be able handle 200,000-300,000 events (Nascar, Aviation Nation, New Year's Eve) on a regular basis.

So which roster? I keep hearing that winning is first and foremost - where can he go that will have a better roster and coach than NE?

If he leaves and itís to the Raiders itís a 100% business decision. Just because heís rich doesnít mean he doesnít want to maximize earnings. Why do billionaires keep working? Because they want more.

Or they enjoy what they're doing and want to keep doing it. I think it's more about the guaranteed years than the guaranteed money for Brady. He's on borrowed time and he knows it.
Brady has bee playing in the NE scheme his whole career, it would
Jack Stroud : 2/15/2020 3:14 pm : link

if anyone can learn a new system, its Brady.

That always bothered me with saying we cant change the system because of Eli. If anyone can quickly pick up a new systems, its guys with tons of experience, football IQ and work ethic. Thats not to say system fit is not an issue, but verbiage and different route concepts? No problem.
NFL will reward them a SB

just for moving them out of California...this could be a good deal for them and Brady.

Remember Rams from St Louis to LA? This is a club of multi-millionaire/billionare owners playing monopoly folks.

If he goes anywhere itís in his best interest to not go to LV. They have less WR talent than NE has by far. LA is a way better choice.

It isnít just Brady picking up a new system
UConn4523 : 2/15/2020 4:38 pm : link
itís the WRs, line and RBs learning what Brady wants too which is going to be a roller coaster year 1 of whatever new team he goes to. Then year 2 heís 44 - just an absolutely slim chance of a playoff berth leaving NE let alone a super bowl.
Presumably the skill players will have to adjust

To whatever QB comes in. Are you saying Brady will make it more difficult than another player?
Take the chargers for instance.
ron mexico : 2/15/2020 4:45 pm : link
Is there another QB that can be successful more quickly than Brady there?

I donít think so.

Vegas is a different story with a capable player in place. In Vegas his main role will be to sell jerseys and tickets and will easily cover that 30 mil figure in that regard.

Yes. Many WRs just couldnít grasp the offensive scheme and timing in NE. While I donít think that scheme is copied outside of NE you are still asking a guy whoís done it his way for 20 years to either change or keep it and ask the players around him to change. Realistically itís a little of both but I donít see how it can get easier for Brady to leave NE. If this was 4 or 5 years ago, sure. Not now.

Yeah, if he truly cares about winning as the end all be all staying in NE is his best ticket to do so. Leaving adds in a ton of competitive risk for him but likely more money which is why I think him leaving would be a business decision.

Carr is not awful, people need to let go of this old narrative. He was 8th in the league in passing yds (4K+), completed 70% of his passes, threw 21 Tds and 8 Ints, and had a 100 QB rating.

I don't understand why Gruden, who I think is a great HC, would drop Carr for a 1-2 yr old QB

Yup. Carr had the 2nd best completion percentage in the NFL. Only behind Brees and his receivers are nothing special.

His top guy was his TE who had 178 yards and 2 TDs in his 3 year career.
Tyrell Williams started hot. Got hurt and was bad when he came back. His 2nd WR was a 5th round rookie whose 5'10 180 pound white guy that ran a 4.6 40. The rest of their receiving corp is pathetic.
