Off has to be the weakest excuse yet, and thats saying something.

And, number two, he had an unfinished tattoo that looked kinda bad that he didn't want people to see and people to talk about. That was the reason."[\quote]

Thats literally just random words strung together as a pitiful excuse for a sentence. That made no sense whatsoever.
I really dont understand how their title wasnt vacated. They flat-out cheated. Clearly broke the rules and there is hard evidence for it. Including their own admission to knowingly breaking the rules. How is their championship legitimate?? Thats basically just sending the message that MLB rules are pretty much just suggestions, but if you break them you still get to win and keep your trophy. Wtf? What is the point of even having rules if you can break them and still get to keep your championship just as long as you arent caught at the time youre breaking them? If youre caught AFTER the fact, oh well, thats MLBs fault not Houstons, therefore they get to keep their championship.
The sad thing is the real reason why they arent vacating the title is because theyd be afraid of ticket holders suing for their money back. I think thats stupid. The ticket holders werent paying for their team to win a championship, they were paying to watch MLB baseball with no guarantee of either team winning or losing. Now were simply going back and saying actually the Astros lost, because they cheated. Same way if a team scores a game winning touchdown on the last play of the game and its called back for holding. Game over. The fans dont get their money back simply because they thought for 5 seconds that their team won. Same thing here. You got what you paid for: MLB baseball. The outcome being changed after the fact doesnt warrant a class action law suit by the fans, its unrelated.
Unless Im mistaken: I dont think theres any precedent for fans suing their own team for their vacated title?
Meanwhile it doesnt matter because the dodgers fans are apparently suing the Astros now. Not sure it will go anywhere but MLBs dickless attempt at avoiding lawsuit turned out to be pointless.
MLB and especially the commissioner are a bunch of fucking pussies.
Yanks visit Houston in May (15-17) but the Astros don't come to Yankee Stadium until late Sept. (21-24) when the games might be too significant for the Yanks to think about retaliation.
But I still wouldn't want to be Altuve the next time he stepped into the box against Chapman.
Whats remarkable about this scandal vs most others in baseball history is how many opposing players feel the same way.
With other things in the past like steroids, a variety of drugs, Pete Rose gambling, etc, players have for the most part not criticized other players too much, at least not publicly. Probably bc they knew a lot of people were doing it, with steroids for example.
But in this case everyone hates the Astros and their BS excuses, including many players.
If Manfred goes for that, the owners should fire him. Yes I can see protecting players from injury but you cannot give the Astros the advantage by threat of suspension for inside pitches. Plays right into their hands.

Houston moved their spring training out to West Palm. Still doesn't make sense though as they play the Nationals who they share the stadium with (tickets are already sold out) and the Yankees tend to do a weekend up in Jupiter when they play the Marlin's and Cardinals when they don't finish in Miami at the big league park.

Baker is already trying to protect himself for a shitty season, not the players. His attempt to get in front of this is a joke.
I am curious as to what the owners think about all of this though. It's been only players speaking out. Wonder what mark Walter and Guggenheim think. Cashman has been vocal but nothing from steinbrenner.
Am aside bit Verlander hinted that more is to come out in the coming days. Any conjectures as to what that's about?

I find it a little odd that the Yanks don't play the Astros in spring training this year. With their stadiums are just over an hour apart the teams have always scheduled a "home and home" in past years.

My bad. I thought they were still in Kissimmee.

Well said Legs....I cant improve on it in any way so I wont even try.

If that's the case couldn't the same be said for every fan base in the league suing baseball for their money back in their games vs the Astros?
I know every team's fan base they faced in the playoffs in 17 could justify wanting thier money back and it seems to me that would cost more than just the Astros fans suing baseball if the title is vacated.
I disliked them even before that. When they decided to tank and cut payroll to the bone, and put a crap team on the field for their fans.

Adam Jones calls BS - ( New Window )
What does this scandal say about the times we are living in right now when the Astros players are getting away without punishment and are busy lying publicly to people who won't stop until they prove the lies?

We live in the age of unaccountability, sad, but true. Wish people had some integrity and guts to hold people that are complicit with this accountable.
And look who liked that post.....

Justin Turner: "It all comes down to everyone keeps saying, 'The facts, the facts. You don't know the facts.' ... I don't think anyone knows the facts. I think everyone just wants to hear all the facts. And I think that the commissioner didn't do a good job of revealing all the facts."
Nick Markakis: “What they did was bullshit.... They deserve a beating.”
Then, find a way to replay the World Series between the Yankees and the Dodgers. It grieves me to write that as a Mets fan, but it would be the fairest thing.
Maybe make the All Star break a week longer, play it around the All Star game, exempting Yankee and Dodger players from the All Star game.

Why is it odd, the Yanks train in Tampa. The Astros are
on the east coast. Teams try to cut down on the travel
in ST, more and more each year. So, it's not odd to me.
Maybe Chapman won't throw three straight sliders like in the playoffs last year too. I don't think Altuve had a buzzer myself, whether people buy Correa's explanation or not. I think if you throw a great hitter three straight sliders, he might guess right.

I was standing out on the mound, I was like, How the hell are they doing (this)? he said. Theyre hitting breaking balls over the fence. Hitting fastballs at their neck. And yeah, it crosses your mind. But what kind of idiot do you look like if they actually werent?
Wow! I hadn't read this before....Something was up then I'm thinking....
