NFT: Rangers v Bruins at the Garden...making a Wild Card push

Torrag : 2/16/2020 12:06 pm
3:30 on NBC

7 points behind the broadstreet bullies with two games in hand. 25 games left on the schedule. Riding our first four game winning streak of the season.

Bruins are loaded and obviously a real test but a win would be huge for our playoff chances.

Kreider on fire.

Panarin heating up after a slight All Star lull.

Goaltending is key as we continue to allow 35 plus shots a night.
I expect the Bruins to come out in full physical,

intimidation mode, Chara-esque, Marchand. McAvoy seems to kill us.

I think this game begins a late, critical period in the schedule, critical in the sense that it may influence the FO direction in player moves.

No doubt. The clock is ticking on the trade market. The next few games will have a huge impact on whether we decide to be sellers or make a run at the playoffs.

But I can't wait for this one!
I am looking forward to it

Though Rangers weakness is against Big physical Teams, especially in their own end. Hope Igor Plays.
Huge game
PaulN : 2/16/2020 1:59 pm : link
This is the type of game where Kreider and Trouba need to step up, also Lemiex needs to play a much bigger role, with the team so young this game will go a long way to boost thier confidence, this will be played more like a playoff game and being physical and defensively responsible become musts.
Stars and Blues pretty much controlled
ColHowPepper : 2/16/2020 2:22 pm : link
those games. I think Boston comes out wanting to put an early-in-game snuffing out of our young team. We'll see how they weather it against the big, bad Brunz. This is why, among other reasons, you don't trade Trouba in his first year here. Need his presence, Lindgren, Lemieux.
Georgiev, 3rd straight
ColHowPepper : 2/16/2020 3:17 pm : link
Igor still bothered, maybe
Solid so far

Pretty Bad Play

Dead-ass on that long PP by the Rangers.
Dreadful
Percy : 2/16/2020 5:06 pm : link
Play by Rangers. They can't win with this kind of lackadaisical work.
Of course the refs miss the high stick by Krejci

Bruins are playing really well. Taking away cross-ice passes
Trouba leaves quite a bit to be desired.

At this point, as long as someone cracks Marchand's head open, I'll consider that a win.
Broad Street Bullies?

That was the Flyers nick name from the 70's wasn't it? Never heard the Bruins called that..

Not quite ready for this sort of prime time.

I was referring to the Flyers who currently hold the last Wild Card spot and we trailed by 7 points with two games in hand before losing today.
Brad Marchand continues to show why he's the biggest little shit in
Anakim : 2/17/2020 1:44 am : link
the NHL. Fuck that rat fuck.
not Trouba's finest game ):
ColHowPepper : 2/17/2020 9:06 am : link
that's for sure...an 'innocent' bystander on the first goal as it deflects off him and over Georgiev, but still, he didn't seem focused. And the 2nd, smh.

PP missed d'Angelo's movement and puck control at the point, no question. Why can't he do that in his own end? smh

Henrik looked more miserable than usual at the end of the bench, maybe because game on national TV? no good solution smh

Cassidy is one hell of a coach. W 117 L 52 w/Boston, and that's prior to this season's stellar record. It's not like he has a roster littered with big names like the Caps and Pens of yore. But the Rangers never seemed sharp, cross ice passes--and Boston did try to clog the lanes, but even before that--were either just off or went off sticks.

Maybe this game was a bit too big for this young team. We'll see over the next ten days just how big a reckoning this was.

Oh, and yes, Marchand is a little piece of shit.
The Rangers were completely out classed in this game.
JPinstripes : 2/17/2020 11:24 am : link
They have a lot more work to do and are a ways away from contending for the Cup. They have good pieces in place, let's see what JD and company do at the trade deadline.
The Bruins are a great team.
yatqb : 2/17/2020 11:48 am : link
No surprise that we were outclassed.

But I liked how hard we played. We need more talent and grit, and it will take time for us to get where the Bruins are, if we ever do.
