Read about this story this morning.
And it sounds like Huff has tweeted some pretty controversial things (misogynistic comments about a SF female coach they hired, and generally support for our current President). Most people will simply say "Good, Huff is a piece of shit" or something like that because of his controversial comments or his political views. And while I don't agree with his comments, I think this is a dangerous precedent.
I don't know if this discussion will last on here, probably not, and I don't care if they invite Huff or not, but the thing I have an issue with (one issue) is the person who uninvited Huff very publicly, on video tape, committed domestic assault and was suspended by MLB because of it. Huff just has some shitty opinions.
I get he's the CEO and Huff isn't but it just seems so contrived, PC, and hypocritical. Huff had more of a role in the WS win than the CEO did.
Should they look through everyone's twitter history and see that no one has made any controversial comments?
This slippery slope is a standard that is only adhered to when it's convenient, but every now and then trips up someone unintended.

be prepared to apply that some line universally.
I don't always feel people do that, it seems their bias dictates what's ok and what isn't.
It's america. Huff has the right to say what he wants on twitter. He may get himself uninvited to stuff, however.
And yes, I believe Huff meant this as a joke. It was stupid and offensive, but no I don't think Huff was in any way serious or to be taken literally. Doesn't excuse it, but to me shouldn't exclude him from an event like this.
I don't believe his explanation about this tweet, I think he just thought this would be funny as a reply to another awful tweet.
Quote:
...Let’s get a flight over and kidnap about 10 each. We can bring them back here as they fan us and feed us grapes, amongst other things….”
If you believe in defending free speech doesn't that also mean you support the Giants freedom to exclude people due to that free speech. I mean I believe in free speech also, but if you want to say stuff that is offensive to me then isn't it also my freedom to say you can't come to my birthday party? I fully support free speech also, but I also accept that, that speech may have consequences for you.

I'm defending speech and really pointing out that arbitrary lines are just that, arbitrary.

I don’t think anyone is saying Giants don’t have a right to exclude Huff. They are just saying it’s lame and pointing out the hypocrisy of having Larry Baer, who was violent with his wife in public, being the person talking about Huffs posts.
I also happen to know Baer is a total hound and hits on women relentlessly. Which makes him even more of a hypocrite, along with the SF Giants organization
As far as the rest I think I mostly agree with the consensus that SF is exercising their due freedoms with 1 additional point, which is the "shouting fire in a crowded theater" example. Freedom of speech is not infinitely protected and I believe the legal line is "Imminent lawless action". It seems clear Huff is not engaging in any imminent lawless actions but the fact that some of his "jokes" center on obviously lawless actions make it pretty easy to understand why anyone with the freedom to do so would probably choose to not associate themselves or their brand with Huff.
So Huff's comments that imply violence/lawlessness seem to go even beyond just being unpopular political speech like Kaepernick.
“Couldn’t imagine taking baseball instruction from an ex female softball player. 🙄 Have fun with that @bcraw35 @bbelt9 @BusterPosey,” he replied to his own tweet, tagging Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford, first baseman Brandon Belt and catcher Buster Posey.
He's a 1st class tool who brought this on himself
That really what this boils down to. It isn't complicated. If the Giants CEO was posting shit on Twitter about beating women or had memes showing boxers flooring females with some pithy caption, he'd probably be fired and not attend the event either.
