NFT: Former pro rugby player kills self/family. CTE I am guessing

manh george : 2/19/2020 11:42 am
Aurstralian player. Burned them up in a car, burned and stabbed himself as well.

I cannot help but wonder if the cause of this is CTE. I hope and assume they do they will do the proper physical brain analysis to find out, but since this is Australia not US, no way to tell what their medical practices on this stuff are.

that looks medical evidence, I do not think anyone should be jumping to a CTE conclusion.
I said it's a guess.

My concern now is that they do the tests, so we know yes/no conclusively. I don't know what they do in Australia. Perhaps BU or some place like that will reach out to assist.
Newsflash....if you played contact sports, even if not at competive

But across the brain science community, there is wide consensus on one thing: Omalu, the man considered by many the public face of CTE research, routinely exaggerates his accomplishments and dramatically overstates the known risks of CTE and contact sports, fueling misconceptions about the disease, according to interviews with more than 50 experts in neurodegenerative disease and brain injuries, and a review of more than 100 papers from peer-reviewed medical journals.

Omalu did not discover CTE, nor did he name the disease. The alarming statistics he recites about contact sports are distorted, according to the author of the studies that produced those figures. And while Omalu cultivates a reputation as the global authority on CTE, it’s unclear whether he is diagnosing it correctly, according to several experts on the disease.

Yup. The "everything must be CTE" comments are really misguided.
Sadly, there's lots of crazy out there without jumping to CTE.

And even in folks with CTE, tons of folks don't burn their family to death.

It's like sex offenders who blame it on alcohol. Well, lots of people get drunk; only a small subset rape women when drunk.
BBI should donate their brains to CTE research

I wonder what the results would be

This. And add on drug abuse. Alcohols abuse. Family history of Emma two illness or domestic violence.

CTE is now a quick and easy cause celeb. Doesn’t mean it’s not in this case or in others an issue but it’s at the point where CTE causes climate change too I hear
I think about it in rugby...
manh george : 2/19/2020 8:34 pm : link
because of the entire lack of head protection. And I think about it in this case, because violent family murder + suicide just isn't that common. Story on Australian rugby players with CTE linked.

This sick PoS actually stopped neighbors from trying to rescue his kids

definition and diagnosis of CTE, the more I start to believe that these-so-called "experts" are anything but.

Neurology, as a hole, is in such an infant stage. I wish we would all stop declaring who is and isn't an "expert" on the brain.

George Washington was pretty much killed because of bloodletting for a throat illness. I would hardly call his doctors "experts".
