Who else on here got hit with the virus this year? Went to bed Tuesday night with a scratchy throat and congestion, woke up that same night with a fever and got worse from there. Went to the dr yesterday and tested positive for it. Got my flu shot this year too. Dealing with on and off fever, nausea, bad chest cough, etc. Dr gave me meds to suppress the cough at night, and mucinex for the day. Been popping couple Advil every six hours and chugging fluids like crazy. Hoping it resides soon, God I hate winter...
Wash your hands, exercise, don't touch your face, etc.

Her immune system does not function at 100%.
There is this product I used to take al km the time and forgot about it. It has always been amazing. After the tail end of the symptoms I got a bad head cold and this shit cleared me up in a couple of days. I have to remember to take it ever season.

The flu shot was even less effective last year. I think a 33-35% rate of success. This year is close to 50%.
But that's still better than no protection at all...
either or trying to wash hands more etc
Of course wife being in pediatrics doesnt help havent had flu for around 12 yrs though
last time I did have it it put me down for 3-4 days
like not moving in bed down
which is never me I usually power thru most anything
Have flu shot
even if its not "effective" still can help duration and severity
a must to get
when her daughter got it they said it was just viral and gave her nothing.
sometimes i don't think the doctors know what the fuck they're talking about. especially at an ER.
So that’s what that was - had the same thing
I can say at least for me, it seems to work.
Do we have experts on this board with medical knowledge that can break this down please?

If it was viral than anti biotics are useless. Sounds like you had a virus too which would explain why the anti biotics you took didn’t help. People take that shit way too often. Infections like upper respitory or sinus infections are when you need the anti biotics. Most docs do know. If they don’t prescribe them it’s for good reason.
That is unimaginable. Just awful.
I didn’t get the shot this year but did last year. Both years I got the flu anyway but in both instances the symptoms weren’t that bad. 1-2 days of fever and aches and then just a cold for a few days after, maybe a little weak and off but not brutal.
That’s my pitch. If you have sinus issues and or get colds frequently do this Neti pot every day and thank me later. I have a young kid who brings the bugs home, i don’t get nearly as sick or as frequently as before.

The flu mutates rapidly, so they study the mutation over the year and try to deliver a shot that will be effective through the flu season but depending on how rapidly it mutates by the time someone gets the flu it could be a different H-N- mutation.
The biggest problem is not nearly enough people get the flu shot. The more people they get it early, will lessen the chances that more people get infected and the virus has less of chance of mutating. The gaps in the population allow the flu to survive and mutate.
