NFT: Toronto Recs

Neckbone1333 : 2/22/2020 1:43 am
Heading to Toronto Sunday through Tuesday. Will also be going a few times a month this year.

I’ll already booked some of my trips around when the Yanks are there.

I’ll be staying at Hyatt Regency Toronto on King St West.

Looking for food recommendations, bars, fun stuff to do, casinos, etc.

Thanks in advance.
Well, You're in a great spot!

I don't know what your interests are, but there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance, from casual to formal dining. I like steak, so that's what I'm familiar with. The Keg is usually very good. I went to Hy's once, it was excellent.

For those cool casual spots, just ask the hotel's concierge. This is what they do, and I'm sure he'll have a number of suggestions for you, probably within walking distance, also. Avoid pizza. I'm sure if you try hard enough, you'll find a decent pizza. But generally, pizza in Toronto is pretty bad.

If you like the theater, again, there are plenty of options within walking distance. If there's something of interest at the Four Seasons Centre, that is a beautiful modern theater, and I would definitely recommend that experience. I'd suggest sticking with the good seats i.e. the orchestra or the first or second balcony. They are worth the extra money, if that's not too much of an issue. There's also a Keg stake house about a block away.

If you want to do some shopping, I would avoid the Eton Centre, unless you have kids. Lots of really good, higher-end stores at Bloor and Yonge. That area is like a big strip-mall. It's close to where you're staying.
