As much as Becton is intriguing, taking him at 4 just doesn't make sense. Teaching technique to an OL at this stage of their development is not ideal. If you don't have it now the odds of you developing that against top tier DL is not in their favor. It isn't impossible but it is very risky. If a guy like him fell to the second round then that makes a ton of sense for us but because of his massive size and crazy potential he will get drafted much higher than that.
That the size and talent of Becton is so rare that he can still be good while he learns the position. Secondly some have said its the offense they ran that held him back a bit.
If his off season training shows marked improvement in drills and technique at the combine that may be enough for a prospect with such rare tools to make the case as OL1.
No issue with Wills though his tape is the best and there is almost no projection needed with him.
Ralph's assertion that the Giants "really like Wirfs" a bunch of posters jumped on board trumpeting what a fine player Wirfs is.
I finally got around to watching breakdowns of a few of his games. The guy is a train wreck, and G-d forbid some Giants' scouts really like him for a top OT.
Hopefully DG is directing smoke up RVs ass and RV is naiive enough to run with it.
No ffing way Wirfs is a top 10 pick. Wills and Thomas are the guys for OT early.
If you think Wirfs is a great OT prospect, you haven't studied him.
People take a look at Cameron Clark the LT from Charlotte. He’s got two cut ups on YouTube. Very good under the radar prospect. Reminds me of Terron Armstead.
Hopefully Saban will give Judge (and DG) the thumbs up or down on taking Wills at 4. If it's YES, I'd have no issue whatsoever FINALLY getting a cornerstone OT.
He just gets the job done in a tough conference. Wills looks like he has the best athleticism, and maybe there is more to work with, but he doesn't look as consistent to me.
There is a desperate need for a defensive playmaker as well, but the problems on the offensive line have been going on for too damn long. It's time to get that anchor left tackle and go from there.
is the most overrated prospect in the draft. He can't stop the bull-rush with his light anchor, and he commits false start penalties at the worst times to derail an offense. His pass-protection is very iffy.
Becton can't pass-protect. He's a liability in true pass sets. That's not a 1st round prospect in a passing league.
disagree. flowers was not a hard worker and had attitude problems. but the lack of technique is concerning

Was referring to him outlining the technique issues, particularly when he crosses his feet. Not as much the attitude assessment.
Also Becton with some very high praise.
Wirfs not necessarily a fit especially if he can't play LT.
Let’s be accurate here. If he didn’t have off-field issues, he wouldn’t be bw’s guy.

Wills/Wirfs/Thomas/Becton...in that order.
I'm fine with him at #4 if the Giants can't work a reasonable trade back.
Back and forth on Wills and Becton as 1 and 1a. Wirfs and Thomas are distant 2nd and 3rd.
It will all be very interesting to say the least.
Sounds like the system makes him hard to evaluate. But shutting down Young AND Bosa!

Wirfs is an NFL Right Guard.
These analysts are trying way too hard.
