LB Isaiah Simmons is our pick after listening to Coach Judge speak... versatility a must, game plan changes, positional changes. He seems to be the perfect fit.
I can see why the Giants hired him, he is very impressive and intense, and we all like everything he is saying.
you're right, it all comes down wins and losses. The good news for him is the bar for improvement is about as low as it could be after the last 3 years.
You can tell he’s been heads down focused on the job ...

I think JJ would be very happy he ended up w/ Simmons, if that's the way the cards fell. (e.g. He is not going to assign demerits for not being an elite edge rusher.)
But it does not give me a clue to whether he thinks, for example, protecting Jones is a higher priority.
Let's not forget that at one interview he also said, "We're not winning the Super Bowl tomorrow!" He's changing the direction and culture of this team. I love where he's headed and I truly believe he will prove to be a great coach. He's starting off by hiring the right coaches and implementing game plans that will change according to the skills and talents of the opponent.
This is year one! The team will acquire some FAs, and will acquire some excellent draft picks. But it is also apparent to me that he realizes we aren't going to get to the Super Bowl just yet. Let's give him the chance to implement his system and look for improvement. The talent on this team is not going to change enough in one year to think we will be like SF and make it to the Super Bowl. We are not at that level. Bit. given the time, I think he is the coach who can get us there.
and what he says sure seems legit, true, actual and real. He doesn't come off as borderline anti-social or some propped up greaseball with catch phrases. He knows what he wants and what expects from his guys and his team and I believe we will see that identity come out quickly.
I think the one guy who will benefit (offensively) the most from this wide variety of options, schemes etc. will be SB. I suspect we will see him in the slot, running wide, direct snaps etc. BUT, I also see his playing time coming down a tad and we gfo more NE like with multiple backs getting time. This will prolong SB's career and make him more effective deeper in the season.
You'd be fooling yourself if you expect anything much more than incremental improvement during the upcoming season. A few more games won, better effort on the field, better coaching that brings a more cohesive team. After this year, though, I expect fairly rapid improvement, with the usual proviso against unforeseen injuries.

I’ve been saying this for the longest now!!! Isaiah Simmons is exactly what they’re looking for
Build this team with exceptional athleticism, speed and versatility. Simmons would a solid start. Aaron Donald was available to us and we passed. Can't happen again for the defense.
I've come away with two impressions:
(1) If you perform to the standard he sets, he will be your best friend; and,
(2) If you don't, he won't necessarily get mad, he'll just quickly cut ties and move on to the next player.

Every thing he says, you could hear coming from Belichick. Maybe Bill wouldn't use so many words.....but Joe's been listening to the Master.

Holy smokes it’s starting to feel like things are going to change around NYG.
Get it?
