The problem with this line of thinking is that it assumes your own rankings are right and doesn’t factor in how unpredictable the draft is.
SEA traded back last draft from No. 21 and ended up getting several picks, one of which turned into DK Metcalf.
More picks = more chances

Leonard Williams with the Giants (8 games):

17 QB Pressures

Wesseling/Rosenthal NFL.com: Top 100 Free Agents

01 Prescott QB Dallas
02 Jones DT KC
03 Cooper WR Dallas
04 Clowney Edge Seattle

“Clowney's production doesn't always match the hype, but he can still hijack an offense at peak moments -- often in the biggest games. Don't let the three-sack total fool you: He was a difference-maker in his Seattle debut, as the pass rush tended to vanish for quarters at a time whenever he missed stretches due to nagging injuries.”

05 Barrett Edge TB
06 Ngakoue Edge Jacksonville

“Ngakoue specializes in the blind-side speed rush, a style of QB hunting that tends to generate takeaways via strip sacks and forced mistakes. Not yet 25 years old, he understands players with his profile will break the bank once the bids start rolling in.”

07 Simmons S Denver
08 Tannehill QB Tennessee
09 Jones CB Dallas

“Jerry Jones isn't one to lose his stars, but he's in a bit of a bind with Jones as the talented third wheel, tagging along behind Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper in the contract line. A rare athlete, Jones started his career at safety before moving to his current cornerback role that calls for the weekly stifling of top receiving threats.”

10 Armstead DE SF
11 Scherff G Washington
12 Thuney G NE
13 Green WR Cincinnati
14 Henry RB Tennessee
15 Brees QB NO
16 Littleton LB LA Rams

“Three-down linebackers who can excel in coverage are an incredibly rare and valuable commodity in today's NFL. Four-down linebackers like Littleton, who also shine on special teams, are that much better.”

17 Brady QB NE
18 Judon Edge Baltimore
19 Harris S Minnesota

“Surrounded by high draft picks with big-money contracts, Harris overcame his undrafted pedigree to become Minnesota's best player in the secondary.”

20 Henry TE LA Chargers
21 Dupree Edge Pittsburgh
22 Conklin T Tennessee

“It's no surprise that the season's most unstoppable ground attack ran behind Conklin, one of the league's most accomplished and physical body movers. Back to full health after battling knee injuries throughout 2018, Conklin paved the way for the NFL rushing champion Derrick Henry as well as Comeback Player of the Year Ryan Tannehill. The Titans have some excruciating decisions to make.”

23 Rivers QB LA Chargers
24 Castonzo T Indianapolis
25 Harris CB Denver
26 Winston QB TB
27 Fowler Edge LA Rams
28 Williams DE NYG

“What's the going rate for nearly sacking quarterbacks? Williams' game isn't without a disruptive quality, but the guys who make the big bucks usually take down the opposing passer at a much higher rate.”

39 Quinn Edge Dallas
40 Sanders WR SF
41 Harris DL Denver
42 Bulaga T GB
43 Ward S SF
44 Glasgow G Detroit
45 Van Noy OLB NE

“Van Noy has mastered the Rob Ninkovich role as a hybrid defensive end/linebacker tasked with setting the edge in the run game and rushing the passer in advantageous situations. With Bill Belichick disciples proliferating throughout the league, Van Noy is reaching free agency at an opportune time.”

61 Joseph S Las Vegas
62 Brockers DT LA Rams
63 Ebron TE Indianapolis
64 Bridgewater QB NO
65 Martinez LB GB
66 Suh DT TB
67 Kwiatkoski LB Chicago

“One of the most promising backup linebackers early in his Bears career, Kwiatkoski proved to be a playmaking upgrade opposite Roquan Smith when steady starter Danny Trevathan went down with an elbow injury in early November. He's an intriguing under-the-radar target in a buyer's linebacker market.”

68 McCoy DT Carolina
69 Dennard CB Cincinnati
70 McLeod S Philadelphia
71 Apple CB NO
72 Pierce DT Baltimore
73 Darby CB Philadelphia
74 Hyde RB Houston

Dunleavy NYP: The real reason why Matt Rhule spurned Giants for Panthers

“A source familiar with Rhule’s thinking told The Post that the Panthers’ show of commitment — flying to meet him and family in Texas as soon as he arrived home from a Mexico vacation rather than waiting for him to visit their facility, and offering a seven-year contract that will allow the patience to make wholesale operational changes — made the difference.
Sure, his nearly $9 million annual salary — far more than the Giants were willing to pay — is a factor, but the source said Rhule could’ve returned to Baylor University for eight years and $56 million. It wasn’t a total money grab.”

MIAMI
Salguero Miami Herald: Dolphins have multiple plans with Tagovailoa, Herbert, Love but none guarantees right QB

“And if you’re asking yourself how the Dolphins might, even for one moment, consider not adding a quarterback as a “must do” in the draft, they would answer this way: Not getting one is better than getting the wrong one.
I heard that answer Monday. And it’s both hard to swallow and argue against.
The frustrating thing about that answer and the possibility that lurks behind it is there is no way to say doing something else is clearly a better choice.
Because Tagovailoa may or may not be the right choice. And Herbert may or may not be. And Love, the biggest project in a quarterback class teeming with them, also comes with uncertainty despite seemingly headed for a first-round selection by someone.

The Tagovailoa issue is hard to unscramble and that makes it the most fascinating. Because this one isn’t just about putting on tape of him and Alabama plowing aside Southeastern Conference opponents and understanding this kid’s special.
This, you see, is Combine week. And the knives are out.
And I had one NFL source tell me teams are holding their breath waiting for the results of Tagovailoa’s mental-acuity tests — suggesting he’s not as smart as everyone would want. And another personnel man suggested Tagovailoa is not mature. And all that flies against everything that Alabama people, including Nick Saban, say.
And that scramble of opinions piles atop the medical questions with the player.

About those, Tagovailoa insisted Monday he’s “confident” none of his injuries, including the fractured and dislocated hip from November, will affect him in the NFL. He said his doctors have told him he’ll eventually be as good as he was before it happened.
But that speaks to the player’s ability to recover from injury while making no guarantee about his durability in the future. And that future durability is the thing.
Because that cannot be predicted.
For Herbert, the issue that teams are worried about is his inconsistent accuracy. It was obvious to anyone who watched him play, and it’s something that Herbert believes he can overcome to the point he’s going to throw for teams here while other quarterbacks don’t.

Then there’s Herbert’s personality. He’s admitted to being something of an introvert, especially when he was younger.
This while all teams, including the Dolphins, want the quarterback to be out front and leading. So it’s important that Herbert checks that box...

The search for the right guy — if he’s out there — continues.”

Jeremiah NFL.com: Jeremiah's top 50 prospects 2.0: One QB on rise

1 Chase Young Edge School: Ohio State | Year: Junior
Previous rank: 1

Young is a tall, long and athletic defensive end. As a pass rusher, he explodes off the ball and gains ground in a hurry. He uses a quick swipe move and also has the ability to control the wrists of blockers. He can convert speed to power and is effective on loops and games. He does have a little tightness at the top of his rush. Against the run, he sets the edge easily and uses his quickness to slip blocks and create chaos behind the line of scrimmage. Overall, Young is an All-Pro talent, reminiscent of Julius Peppers and Mario Williams.

2 Derrick Brown DT School: Auburn | Year: Senior
Previous rank: 2

Brown has excellent size, power and athleticism for the defensive tackle position. As a pass rusher, he has a quick first step and uses his hands very effectively. He wins with a violent club/swim move, a rip move or a nifty up-and-under counter move. Against the run, he easily holds the point of attack. The Auburn product creates separation from blockers with an explosive punch, which allows him to close quickly and make plays. His effort is consistent. Overall, this is a complete player capable of dominating on all three downs. He'll be a difference maker on Day 1.

3 Joe Burrow QB School: LSU | Year: Senior (RS)
Previous rank: 3

Burrow has solid size for the position and he possesses many elite qualities. He operates out of the gun in the LSU spread attack and he is extremely accurate, efficient and instinctive. He is very smooth in his drop and he has the ability to process through his reads at a rapid pace. He throws with anticipation and he can naturally layer the ball over and under coverage. He doesn't have top shelf arm strength when driving the ball outside the numbers. He relies more on timing/touch. He doesn't flinch versus pressure when he sees something he likes down the field. If he needs to buy time, he can slide and climb the pocket with excellent feel/awareness. He has a nice burst when he leaves the pocket and he is more than a capable runner. Overall, Burrow lacks special arm strength but his combination of poise, accuracy and toughness is very appealing.

4 Jeff Okudah CB School: Ohio State | Year: Junior
Previous rank: 5

Okudah has ideal size, length, twitch and competitiveness for the position. He is very comfortable and effective in both press and off coverage. He is patient in press and very fluid/smooth when he opens up. He does a nice job of staying on top versus vertical routes and he can locate the football down the field. He has the agility to mirror underneath. In off coverage, he explodes out of his plant and he is a dependable open field tackler. This is a very clean player with a very high floor and ceiling.

5 Mekhi Becton T School: Louisville | Year: Junior
Previous rank: 10

Becton is a massive left tackle prospect with a similar size/skill set to former first-rounder Bryant McKinnie. In pass protection, he has surprisingly nimble feet and uses his length to steer defenders. Even when he fails to land his punch, he can absorb rushers with his girth. He needs to improve his awareness versus games up front. He is a dominating run defender and collects knockdowns by the bunches. He latches on and uses his upper strength to torque and toss. He isn't as effective when working in space. Overall, Becton has areas to improve -- mainly balance and awareness -- but he is a rare athlete at this size and his upside is through the roof.

6 Isiah Simmons LB/S School: Clemson | Year: Junior (RS)
Previous rank: 4

Simmons is an extremely versatile, athletic defensive chess piece. He is a long, rangy athlete who lined up at linebacker, over the slot and in the deep middle for Clemson, thanks to his diverse and unique skill set. Against the pass, he has terrific range and instincts from the deep middle. He has the speed and agility to match up with top-flight tight ends and backs underneath. He is an explosive blitzer off the edge and in through the middle. Simmons overpowers running backs in protection. Against the run, he takes good angles and his speed allows him to make plays from the back side. He will struggle at times if he has to take on blocks on the edge. Overall, Simmons is built for today's NFL and his role could change week to week, depending on the opponent.

Arizona RB JJ Taylor’s 5-foot-5 (and 1/4) carried significant shades of Darren Sproles today. So much so that like Sproles, the process was held up as officials had to find a tape measure and go from the ground up, using a sharpie to mark his height. Taylor handled it well, too.

Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL)

Simmons can literally do it all

I get Giants fans want to fix the Oline and this is one of their best chances to do it since passing on Nelson + picks for Barkley, but:
- OTs have high bust rates
- There's NO ONE in this class like Simmons
- Defense desperately needs playmakers

Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL)

He’s an excellent football player already (with obvious room to improve given age and experience).
But Isaiah Simmons is also a generational athlete. Think Devin Bush from last draft, but a better athlete.
The Giants defense — check that — team — needs a prospect like this

Oklahoma LB Kenneth Murray (6-foot-2, 235) —

The pursuit speed jumps on film. Range to the ball from the 2nd level + some edge rush ability. Three-down traits. Would expect a 40 time at 4.4/4.5 here in Indy.

1961 Giants Previews

BOB GAITERS
Halfback
1st Round
New Mexico State
"The retirement of Frank Gifford has created a major void at left halfback. Expected to fill it is No. 1 draft choice Bob Gaiters, the New Mexico State sensation who was boss of all college ground-gainers in '60. A shifty runner who can power a line or skirt to the outside, his speed also makes him a dangerous pass receiver. Scouts are in agreement as to his vast potential and the Giants will be mighty relieved if he can pick up the ball-carrying slack."

-1961 Pro Football Handbook

8-36-2961 Football Geography.com:

“On August 26th, 1961, the Giants defeated the Cowboys 28-10, in an exhibition game on a Saturday night at University Stadium in Albuquerque, NM.

The game itself wasn’t very entertaining as a Giants victory was never in doubt. For the locals though that didn’t matter. The main draw was the return of two local collegiate stars Bob Gaiters and Don Perkins.

Gaiters, who was a rookie with the Giants, was coming off a stellar senior season with the New Mexico State Aggies. In 1960, he led the nation in scoring with 23 touchdowns (still a NMSU single-season record) and seven extra points (145 points in total). He also led the nation in rushing with 1,338 yards, averaging 6.8 yards per carry. That season the Aggies finished the year with an 11-0 record and won the Sun Bowl. It’s the only time the school has ever recorded 10 or more wins, and it’s the last time the school has participated in a bowl game.

Perkins, who was with the Cowboys, was a star back for the New Mexico Lobos. In 1959, Perkins led the nation in kickoff return yards and at the time was only the second Lobo to ever be named an All-American. His jersey number (No. 43) is retired by the Lobos.

In a state that hasn’t seen a lot of success on the college gridiron, Gaiters and Perkins are legends.

In the Giants-Cowboys exhibition game neither starred. However, Gaiters had a decent performance with the winning Giants. Only playing in the second half, Gaiters had 30 yards on seven carries, and caught three screen passes for 41 yards.

In a little over three quarters of play, Perkins gained only 28 yards on 12 carries for the Cowboys.”

1962 Giants Previews

BOB GAITERS
Halfback
No. 35
New Mexico State
"Training camp was like going to school again for Bob Gaiters, the Santa Ana (California) slasher who looked so good - and bad - as a rookie left half in 1961. Although he bolts well to the inside and is effective on the quick-openers, he must learn to absorb the pro system and overcome an inferiority [sic] that he's 'not good enough.'
Bob was the nation's leading scorer and rusher at New Mexico State in 1960."

In Memoriam

Duke Iverson BB D6-Oregon 1947 NYG 1947 Born 2-26-1920 Died 5-20-2011

“His father was one of eight siblings, seven of whom came to Petaluma. He settled in the Roblar District in 1896 where he and his brother, Louis, purchased 160 acres, which they evenly divided. "We were rural people. I was at the end of a shovel all day long," remembers Iversen, 90, of his childhood working on his father's sheep and poultry ranch.
His prowess for football developed early and he became a two-way varsity starter in ninth grade. Write-ups in the Argus-Courier referred to him as Big Duke Iversen. Football had a high priority, and when the University of Oregon offered the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Iversen a scholarship, he quickly accepted. Like many players from that era, he played both ways, as a blocking quarterback in the Ducks' single-wing offense and linebacker on defense. After three years at Oregon, and with World War II underway, Iversen joined the U.S. Marines and was stationed in Jacksonville, Fla., where he was trained in aviation ordnance and played football for two years on a service team that was stacked with pro and college players until he was shipped to Okinawa, Japan where he taught judo and hand-to-hand combat, and played football, until the war ended.
After the war, he returned to Oregon for his final year of football eligibility. His durability and rugged play there earned him a roster spot in the 1947 East-West Shrine Game at Kezar Stadium, where he co-captained the West squad to a 13-9 victory. Iversen then returned to the family farm along with his wife, Elizabeth. He wasn't planning on playing professional football until he was notified he was the seventh-round pick, 54th overall, of the National Football League's New York Giants, in 1947. He played both ways as a rookie, starting five games and playing in eight, as a blocking back and linebacker, and finished the season with three fumble recoveries. He was released at the end of the 1947 season, but was signed by the New York Yanks of the old All-America Conference and played four more seasons before, at age 31, bad knees told him it was time to call it quits. "I knew someday I'd have to grow up and make a living," said Iversen.”
