DirecTv to eventually only be available in rural areas

and most likely gone completely once NFL Sunday Ticket deal goes away (per the linked article).

I think the NFL wants the labor deal done not just for overall TV deals BUT, specifically for bargaining purposes with suitable alternatives to NFL Sunday Ticket.
DirecTv changes coming - ( New Window )
Thank god

Cant wait for an alternative to Sunday Ticket. To be fair I havent paid full price (or at all, mostly) in years but its still expensive. And I know there are some streaming options but Im not a big tech guy and I hate the idea of losing a stream or not being able to connect, etc. I mean it leget gives me anxiety. So I know its a choice I make, but it would he nice to have some options that dont dictate my cable provider. In truth Ill probably go the cord cutting route shortly after this happens.
I am with ya there

and hopefully someday they have team only options.
It’s no longer worth the $..

I just canceled after 25 years with Sunday ticket. My discounted cost of $122 mo isn’t worth it, I switched to YouTube TV and I love it, I get everything I need for $49 mo. I’ll use NFL game pass for the games I miss.
No doubt that in 2022 DTV will merge with Dish and ATT will get out of the Sat dish business.
NFL Sunday Ticket is a Waste

who can really sit there and watch every game or continually switch back and forhto different games? I am just as happy with the NFL Red Zone channel, where you continually get live feeds from games when teams are on the move up and down the field, and its much cheaper than the NFL Sunday ticket
Sunday Ticket is great

I have 4 tvs, and a crew we have watched NFL with for well over 33 years. However, I am looking forward to Amazon, Apple TV or someone else buying the service and offering per game prices. That will drive down the cost of all team packages for customers like me.

Either way, the Direct TV portion of it, will not be missed.

Its all a matter of preference. I hate the Redzone channel. Sunday Ticket being a waste depends largely on where you live. If you're out of market like I am Im more than fine with paying $20 a week to watch my team. And I haven't had to pay that much in a long time. Many years I havent had to pay at all. The rest of the games are a bonus. Some weeks I dont watch anyone but the Giants. And Id still be fine paying for it.

My issue with directv isnt anything with Sunday Ticket. Its the monopoly they have and that my choice in cable providers (at this point the choice to actually even have a cable provider) is dictated by who my favorite football team is.
I think this really sucks for the consumer

TV is only available via direct line, internet or satellite. Killing satellite really only hurts the consumer. It also severely impacts rural and remote consumers.
