I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate all the rumors pertaining to the Giants on one thread. Let's try to keep this thread clean and post only news from trusted media sources.
Giants have expressed interest in OLB Jordan Jenkins, who had 15 sacks the past two seasons for the Jets. Former third-round pick is only 25 years old.
I viewed him as the best value going forward, with age and performance in hand. Yannik was the best choice but he's tagged and going to cost a fortune. I feel Jenkins can be had at a nice value.
Jenkins fits as a cheaper version of M. Golden (also Pats profile)
highly productive college player who fell to 3rd round because he doesn't have great measurables. 20 sacks and 6 FF in 4 years isn't nothing. Especially the 15 sacks/4FF in the last 24 starts.

NFL COMPARISON Nick Perry
BOTTOM LINE Three-year starter who has played both outside linebacker spots in the Bulldogs 3-4 defense. With Jenkins length and outstanding power on the edge, he is a natural fit as an edge-setting strongside 3-4 outside linebacker in the pros. Jenkins may not be viewed as dangerous enough as a pass rusher to warrant a first round pick, but he?s a safe pick whose toughness and football IQ make him an early starter candidate.
-Lance Zierlein
I agree with someone above who said he isn't going to be cheap. I would guess he cost a similar amount to Golden. Slightly less productive but healthier and younger.

He also played under our ILB coach, Kevin Sherrer, at Georgia

He's also always battled nagging injuries. He consistently misses a couple of games a year going back to his Georgia days. I agree with the analysis he's similar to Golden in a lot of ways just younger. Maybe a tick less as a pass rusher and more as a run setter.

Bart Scott ripped him apart a couple of months ago. Said something like his sack numbers were inflated...he got a bunch of coverage sacks thanks to Gregg Williams' schemes...called them "layups." Scott was really down on him, but take it for what it's worth.

This would be a huge get for the Giants and exactly the type of player the Giants should be targeting. I was expecting the Jets to tag him or sign him to a long term deal but it would be a huge blunder on their part to let him walk. Jenkins is just beginning to break out IMO.
I was hoping for a run at Shaw Lawson as I think he has been improving and is only 25. Maybe Jenkins is a more productive player the same age. Prior knowledge with our LB coach.
The issue with Lawson for me is he's a one position pony. He's a true 4-3 DE. Doesn't play well in space or moving backwards. If you aren't running a four man front he just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Yeah, he seems to be more geared to a 4 man front, maybe with some zone blitzes mixed in. I was thinking the with our multiple look he could be a better utilized player. He is improving and I think would have been a good fit, Jenkins may be a better addition as a true 3-4 Edge.
RE: Jay - I see Jenkins as a little boom or bust, but I'll trust Judge
he could either be Zadarius Smith 1 year from now or just another Devon Kennard type.
I do like buying a young guy with upside who is ascending vs bringing back someone like Golden who is safer but also limited upside.
There is absolutely some risk here but I am willing to gamble on a young player that's registered 15 sacks over the past two seasons and is only 25. I will admit I was glad that the Giants didn't give Za'Darius Smith that much money last season but I was quickly proved wrong. I don't think Jenkins is as good but it wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a dependable 10-12 sack guy.

Ive been touting Jenkins for some time. Kyler Fackrell and Ogbah as backup plans. Im thinking $13-14M for Jenkins
Now, if we sign these types of parts over Edge talent, then we could be seeing a shift to more 4-3 fronts if not a base.
I agree - from what Judge and graham have said, it looks like they are not as concerned with 3-4 vs 4-3. I think Ogbah will be a value pickup for someone.

.
Plus, he's a more versatile player, would be a good move.
Not splashy, but a good move nonetheless.
Dan Sileo just tweeted out that Clowney is going to the Giants
Jordan can play on the line or off the line, in a 1-gap defense or a 2-gap defense. He can play in a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense. He can cover players off the line in single coverage or zone coverage. He can rush the passer and make tacklers look foolish and in college has even been brought inside and made guards look foolish in pass rush and defending the run. For the love of god, what more are you looking for in a defensive player to add to your defense? Jordan has Clay Mathews’ type talent with the power and explosion and mature techniques to impact the day after you draft him. He will become one of the leaders of your defense and a player you can build your defense around.
Jenkins has less sacks than Golden, Golden doubled his tackles per game rate and had double the amount of qb hits. Jenkins also had 2 sacks against a lineman who never started another game for us, Solder was out. I watched the Jets vs Ravens game and he never kept contain and had only 1 tackle, I’m out on him.

They might not be, but you don't want Ogbah playing 3-4 OLB out in space. He's stiff, it's not his game, as an example.

Still hearing #NYGiants are involved in pursuit of Jadeveon Clowney, per source. Not sure where they stand, but at least one team in that chase convinced #NYG are legitimate contenders.
RE: I bet Dan Sileo read the fake account notice....
@Connor_J_Hughes
And yes, as
@art_stapleton
said, and now per my sources, the #Giants are in on him
Not sure.

I haven’t seen all that much of him. A solid fit?

interesting for sure but only 3-4mm discount to Armstead?
I agree, he’s a Devon Kennard clone, 10m per max

at 13-14MM seems like an overpay.

That may be but his production was more like Zadarius Smith and he is a year younger than Smith was at this time last year.

$13M for a 25 year old IS 2nd wave type of money. If he was a "1st wave" prospect he would be getting $19-20M, or more likely franchised.
LOL! Hey, I did say take it for what it's worth, ya imgrate.
Anyway...if the Giants are committed to Leonard Williams, what's another former Jet more or less?
Plus, he's a more versatile player, would be a good move.
