I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate all the rumors pertaining to the Giants on one thread. Let's try to keep this thread clean and post only news from trusted media sources.
about Clowney… He can be a wrecker (the games I've seen) but his numbers dont back it up, but the Giants desperately need an ER
I don’t see it. He is a good player but I am not sure it fits with what NYG has been saying it wants. Players entering their their second contract in their mid 20’s.
Jack Conklin agreed to a 3-year deal with the Browns for $42M with $30M fully guarantee, per
@RosenhausSports
. He earns $20mil in the first year. Wanted to keep it short due to the projected increases in the salary cap. Conklin will only be 28 when this deal expires.

Realistically no pass rushers with a spotless record hit free agency. Clowney has his warts, but he's probably as good as we're going to get outside of the draft.

I'd much rather pay him 22 mil than Jenkins 13.
Hard to disagree with that, especially if his deal ends up being less than we expect like many of the other deals done today.
Conklin and Kwiakowski are both about 1/2 what most of their projected deals were.
Last year when the Seahawks got him for a 3rd I figured almost every team in the NFL would have paid that price. There is a chance he's just not a guy teams are going to be willing to get into a massive bidding war for due to his injury history.
. How about we sign Clowney and he realizes that with an attitude like LT had, he can be as good as anyone. Maybe Judge can bring him around with the help of NYC and its fans. The guy has unlimited potential if he wants to use. Our defemse is back then in spades.
Is a tad concerning. Yes there are a few top tier UFAs left, but a few non top tier guys like Nick Kwiatkowski who many thought could be a fall back option are also gone...
Not sure if this smoke is true, and if I was a betting man....I would say that Clowney would not be a Judge type player...
Obviously, the talent is there....but the red flags concerns me, especially after getting paid.
Last 2 years combined:
5 FF
5 Fumble Recoveries
2 TDs
12 sacks
23 TFL's
4 passes knocked down
44 QB hits
I am not a bit Clowney fan and highly doubt he will fit what Judget/DG are looking for. But like every other player that's available it will depend on the contract he gets. As Jon mentioned above, it's hard to argue he isn't worth 2x what someone like John Jenkins could get. Or even Golden who we know is far from a game changer. He's got his issues but when healthy he is in the small handful of guys talented enough to be a defensive game wrecker.
sign schobert and then wait for the next wave of FA
you're wise to spend smart and you've got to build a foundation via the draft and its cheaper pipeline. The top UFAs have too many warts to invest open market dollars in. The players you ideally want from UFA rarely are allowed to reach the open market.
If we can sign McGovern or Schobert today in the $10-11M range...

Still a ton of ILB's on the board. We're a good 16-18 hours from the time to be concerned

^This. Let the first wave pass, and sign the second tier FAs. I expect and want us to do something, but throwing money at Clowney, Jones, etc. is the wrong move. Competing for these types of players means participating in a bidding war which inevitably results in overpaying. We are also not one or even two or three players away from being competitive.

I think Jones is the only player worth throwing big $ at. If NYG land Jones, it allows Baker to shadow him for 3 years as the 2nd CB and develop into a 1 when Jones contract expires. The secondary is a massive defensive hole. Can also allow NYG to hopefully draft Wills at OT number 4. But can hopefully sign Schobert in the $10-$11M range and that’s a lot of holes fixed. At that point, would be competitive even at 8-8 would seem very realistic.
Solid deal if true, Bradberry to NYG for 3 years / 45m
about Clowney… He can be a wrecker (the games I've seen) but his numbers dont back it up, but the Giants desperately need an ER
His sack numbers aren’t very very high but his numbers do indeed back it up. Clowney has consistently been at the top of the positional rankings in terms of TFL, QB hits and hurries. This talk that clowney doesn’t put up numbers is completely untrue. I posted them here last week to prove it.
I can understand people balking at the cost for Clowney
but realistically, you have to overpay for free agents.
Clowney isn't perfect (if he was Houston would never have let him go) but he's WAY more talented than most guys that hit FA, he would be a huge addition to our lame pass rush, and he actually plays the run pretty well. He's not a line-up-wide-loop-to-the-qb-every-time guy.
I wanna show faith in our new staff and bring in supremely talented guys. Sure I'd be happier if he was cheaper, but that's not how FA works.
I would like to see the Giants sign Corey Littleton.
I would not be surprised if we looked at some former Panthers: FS Tre Boston, RT Daryl Williams and CB Ross Cockrell. All three might be decent value signings.
I'd much much rather Littleton even at an increased cost.
It's not time to delve into the value signings area of free agency yet. We're still in the viable starter phase. Which is where guys like Schobert and Glenn fit in.
One low cost signing that could be a possibility: LeAdrian Waddle
Probably would cost in the $1-2mm range, so Remmers like signing. Was on the Bills bench last season but Judge will know him from the sea dome before that he spent in NE.

LB Nick Kwiatkoski deal to the #Raiders: Three years, $21 million with $13.5 million in guarantees. More available in incentives.

That's a very reasonable deal.

Not a bad deal from either side
GoDeep13,
You got any asshat info to share?

That's fake
Come on, dude. Even if you thought it was the real Schefter, the fact that it was tweeted 5 hours ago wasn't a giveaway?
It's fake.
Be better, for fucks sake.
For one brief, shining moment, djm got wood thanks to you.
Um Schobert far from sucks
