I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate all the rumors pertaining to the Giants on one thread. Let's try to keep this thread clean and post only news from trusted media sources.
Giants are OUT on Clowney, asking price is too high, they have moved on.
What is supposed asking price? Fine with this, but there was crazy talk about NYG being very deeply in on him. Martinez at $10M isn’t a ton but many aren’t good with this. If Clowney was in $20-$22 M range that’s a ton as well clearly. NYG need an Edge badly.

21 per year range is right. Nearly 70 guaranteed. Last I heard NYG had an offer on the table and are still very much in it.
But.. I've also heard they are checking in on other edge rushers. Perhaps they did drop out or maybe just setting up plan B.
With everything going on I haven't had much time to ask around. Sorry folks. Weird offseason.

Any clue who option B is? Was it Martinez as an ILB or was that just a 3 year cheaper DG signing totally separate?
Not sure if this smoke is true, and if I was a betting man....I would say that Clowney would not be a Judge type player...
Obviously, the talent is there....but the red flags concerns me, especially after getting paid.
Last 2 years combined:
5 FF
5 Fumble Recoveries
2 TDs
12 sacks
23 TFL's
4 passes knocked down
44 QB hits
I am not a bit Clowney fan and highly doubt he will fit what Judget/DG are looking for. But like every other player that's available it will depend on the contract he gets. As Jon mentioned above, it's hard to argue he isn't worth 2x what someone like John Jenkins could get. Or even Golden who we know is far from a game changer. He's got his issues but when healthy he is in the small handful of guys talented enough to be a defensive game wrecker.
I'm in the anti-Clowney group, but if he's looking for a 3 year deal like seemingly everyone else (would be 30 in 2023), I could warm to it. Would certainly keep him motivated for his next big pay day.
Meanwhile, approx. how much money do we have left? I want McGovern!
id like that signing.
be nice if we were able to get mcgovern and two edges.
go OT at 4 and then maybe delpit in second if there?
Between you and me...and everyone reading this thread, I still have a sneaking suspicion that Chase Young will fall to 4. I think Burrow and Tua are most assuredly top-3 pick. That leave one spot between us and Young.
If Young is not there, I would take Jedrick Wills Jr. No questions asked. And maybe in the second round go with Yetur Gross-Matos or Tee Higgins.
Anthony Harris can be bad for a mid round pick. Giants were rumored to be in on him before he was franchised. Haven’t seen much discussion but seems like a no brainer if they can get it done for their Collins comp pick or their fourth.

anak, you and I are on the same wavelength. 1. i am not counting out young even if its a longer shot 2. i LOVE wills. i know you fell in love with his footwork like i did. I think the guy is going to be special player for a long time.

Yep, but it wasn't just his feet. It's his smarts and technique and that punch of his. If he was bigger with longer arms, I think he would be talked about like Penei Sewell.

He was my #1 free agent target, the only free agent I wanted to see the Giants sign regardless of cost.

"I still have a sneaking suspicion that Chase Young will fall to 4. I think Burrow and Tua are most assuredly top-3 pick. That leave one spot between us and Young."
What are you saying here?
If you think Burrow and Tua are going in the Top 3, which player do you think will sneak ahead of Chase Young, thus pushing the best DE in the Draft to us at 4?

It just takes one team to fall in love with Justin Herbert.

Simmons and Okudah, but I also could see a team giving a shitload to the Lions to trade up and secure Herbert

Not likely but not crazy either.
I am a huge fan of Justin Herbert. But I just don't see this scenario unfolding.

I can probably "edit" your face in about 30 seconds.
ITG aside, with all of the problems Gary and Eric have had with the site recently, I'd think helping to keep the board as "clean" as possible would be a good thing, not to mention making threads easier to read. But you do you.

Give up a 4 now or a 5 this year and 5 next. Get it done!

So he's a Top 10 lock. Thx Marc Ross for verifying what we all knew.
Also Marc Ross:
Quote:
MEDIA Q&A WITH VICE PRESIDENT OF PLAYER EVALUATION MARC ROSS: (Video) (Giants.com Interview)
Q: What do you think about Ereck Flowers?
A: Ereck is, as you have probably heard, a physical, nasty, tough football player and you just don’t see that too often anymore in college football. He is a man-child physically. He is gigantic. He has long arms. He just turned 21 on Saturday. Super productive against the highest level of competition there, the Florida States and the Nebraskas. He is a good player who is just scratching the surface of how good he can be.
Q: Where do you see him position-wise?
A: Tackle, for sure. He can play [either side]. He has done that. He played right tackle as a freshman. He played left tackle the last two years, so wherever the coaches want to play him and feel most comfortable right now, but I feel he can do either tackle spot.
Q: Do you see that his weakness is with his techniques?
A: You read that stuff. The guy is 20. They all have technique flaws. Nobody is ready-made to play in the NFL. Even fourth- or fifth-year seniors. They all can improve. He is just learning to play, but even with technique flaws, the guy was a productive and dominant player at times.
I agree that it is unlikely but every year there is a discrepancy between what we/media think and what the concensus is among the professionals.
When it comes to QBs, people fall in love and as we all know, love makes us do crazy things.
I don’t believe there was a consensus that Baker Mayfield would go #1. Only very late, when it started leaking that the Browns were big on him, and even then some suspected a smokescreen.
I still maintained the Browns goofed. They could have taken Saquon with #1 and still had a QB with their #4 pick. Might even have been Mayfield.
Can we make this thread just for Giants FA Rumors and not discussions on other topics? I hate Marc Ross as much as anyone but how is that related to FA Rumors?
Anthony Harris can be bad for a mid round pick. Giants were rumored to be in on him before he was franchised. Haven’t seen much discussion but seems like a no brainer if they can get it done for their Collins comp pick or their fourth.
If true, that would be the right kind of trade (would make more sense then giving mid round picks for Leonard Williams). Harris is a stud
Curious to see where he lands, and for how much.
And thank goodness for that. More money for the Blake Martinez's of the world.
Woof.
If true, im not too upset about this.
Can we get two fkr price of one? Lol
Fowler and golden?
What is supposed asking price? Fine with this, but there was crazy talk about NYG being very deeply in on him. Martinez at $10M isn’t a ton but many aren’t good with this. If Clowney was in $20-$22 M range that’s a ton as well clearly. NYG need an Edge badly.

Thank you Joey. Would like to see that money go to multiple players in FA and start plugging holes and building depth.
What other teams are in on him? I doubt many for huge money.

Jedrick Willis is a 2nd rounder: Ross
Case in point.
He might be the best FS in football. If not he's definitely top 3.
