I thought it would be a good idea to consolidate all the rumors pertaining to the Giants on one thread. Let's try to keep this thread clean and post only news from trusted media sources.
He was awful this past year but he was moved all around the line and played mostly out of position. He was a stud at RT prior to the injury so as long as you're not relying on him regaining form and you play him there where he's best suited it could be a low risk, high reward move.
I know WR isnt exactly at the top of the needs list
that all makes a lot of sense. With Bethea cut they are back around $20m, if they save some money on Solder maybe that gets them to $25m. Plus Pulley/Rosas are another $6m that can be easily replaced if nec.
1 year $3-5m deals for Williams, Floyd, Karras would be an ideal use of the remaining bigger ticket adds. All 3 have starting experience. Hopefully we can snag at least 2 of them.
FS and WR are interesting lower priority spots to add bodies. I still like Coleman and he's the exact type of field stretcher we need. He could be next year's Breshad Perriman (who is also out there but likely a little too much $).
Not sure what's out there that fits at FS. Logan Ryan would be amazing but I'd imagine he will get a good $ deal somewhere.
Don't have many specific names, Looney has been mentioned, Williams as well (Kilgore, Karas, Garland for C)
Sniffing around RB/WR also but monitoring C Coleman, but those positions they might wait for longer than OT/C/ER
Makes sense. Nobody's rushing out to sign Corey Coleman, not with about 100 other UFA WR's available, not to mention how many talented WR's there will be in this year's draft class.
Not a great UFA RB market...maybe a couple of gems. Seems like a lot of age, injury worries, underachievers.
I think there's a valid discussion to be had on someone like Clowney
or Logan Ryan, or Breshad Perriman, or Chris Harris, or Ha Ha clinton dix.
Is a bigger (relative) 1 year deal worth it for a potential plus starter or several depth additions like Karras/Wiliams/Floyd/etc.
I'd probably lean towards the latter. Clowney's upside is obviously worthwhile however if he wants to come here to raise his value on a 1 year deal (no where better and he'd be motivated).
And Ha Ha Clinton Dix would slot in as an immediate starter, if he's got the Saban seal of approval, that could be an impact player. He was on GB with Graham too. He's got 16 ints in 6 years.
Deon Bush is a younger potential lower cost alternative to Dix, he's a highly athletic safety in the same mold who has some starts under his belt in Chicago.
I don't get the infatuation with this guy on BBI. It's been years since he played decent football. Yeah he survived last season without blowing up his knee again. He stank. He was terrible. PFF, who has limited uses for me, but straight stats don't lie have him surrendering 12 Sacks...as an OG.
Let's repeat that. He gave up 12 sacks playing OG. That was the worst in the NFL. His days playing on the edge are done...or they should be unless someone loses their mind.
Everyone wants FA's like Golden last year, that's what Williams is
he is 27 years old and 2 years ago he was an all pro.
if the last 2 years didn't go poorly he wouldn't be readily available for a cheap 1 year contract.
Markus Golden was the exact same way and is proof that sometimes those types of low risk 1 year gambles can pay off. The year before we signed Golden he had a poor season with a new scheme/coaching staff (2.5 sacks). The year before that he missed the entire season with a major injury.
Daryl Williams fits that exact same profile so if you want to make more moves like Markus Golden those are the types of players you are going to be signing.

He didn't surrender 12 sacks as an OG... He played all over the line for some strange reason. He is a RT
Awful comparison. Giant men don't always respond to leg injuries like others. Mobility is the core skill they require. Williams was tried outside last year. It was a disaster. He hasn't been a decent player for a long, long time now. It's over for him at tackle.
2017 - 16 starts, 2nd team all pro at RT
2018 - 1 game played, major knee injury
2019 - 12 starts split between G/T
He is coming off 1 bad season, which also happened to be his first year post injury and split between different positions. It happens. As I mentioned above it is the exact same profile as Markus Golden.
He gave up 12 sacks in 12 starts last season. That's not bad...it's catastrophic. they couldn't find a place to hide his suck last season. It was a train wreck.
Hard pass.
how was he "awful" in 2018 when he only played 1 game?
Is his health....which still might be a problem....but if he has fully recovered.....it takes more time for big men to fully recover and get back to form.
But if he has....then the Giants should go after....at the right price
Low risk High reward type. If he again sucks you cut him. It doesnt stop us from taking an OT in the 1st round. Hopefully he is back to 100% and you get a solid season from him. At this point there isnt much out there so its a good gamble.
This is different than a Remmers. Remmers was always a stopgap and never played at a high level. his best days were average.
Not through FA which has been a miserable failure for DG over the past 2 years.
Williams coming back from surgery last year was plain awful. Why take the risk. SB and DJ need a good OL.Do it through the draft.
Last I heard they were talking to Solder & checking out the market for Centers.
RT/C is best bet to get signed next.
Have heard they are 'still-in' on Clowney but ALOT has to happen namely, clear some space, possibly let L Williams walk & price would have to go down but nothing further.

If not, and we hope/pray the starting C isn't a guy that suited up for NYG last year, we're talking draft.
Ruiz/Cushenberry - both seem to be a borderline elite C prospects
Biadasz - was previously highly regarded but a shoulder injury and some athletic concerns seemingly has dropped his projection
Hennessy - looks solid but if there is a question, its in the power department
Nick Harris - this is a guy that impressed me perhaps more than the prior two guys. His downside is lack of length. But hes strong, tough and quick and really commands the position in a way that NYG hasn't seen since O'Hara.
& personally highly doubt it happens, but would have to in order to get Clowney in.
Will be away for a couple hours will check in later, should hear/see some rumblings after year league starts possibly a signing even tonight
How can they let him walk? Does that mean a 1st is still attached? Thought since he was tagged it automatically means if a team signs Williams, a 1 comes back? I’m now confused.
in an offseason before. With the amount of cap out there I was expecting some game changers. We added 3 decent at best defenders and retained a bunch of guys already on the roster of one of the worst giants teams I’ve ever seen. Very disappointed fan right now. I see no signs of things getting better any time soon.

It doesnt' really make sense to spend big money on these names but the lack of them caring about pass rushers has caught up to them.

They can simply rescind the tag if LW hasn't signed it yet.
yeah there's no game changers, but they should have picked Littleton over Martinez easily (rumor was they didn't even pursue him), Bradberry is a good signing, they constantly every year ignore the pass rush.
I think this would be fantastic. THanks for posting man.

Nope. The questions remain out there regarding his health, work ethic, and the lack of sack production. Buyer beware.
I want no part of him.

Mind boggling level of suck.
Yeah how many of those sacks came playing LT or LG or RG... He gave up zero sacks playing RT his all pro position.
Mind boggling level of suck.
Kyle Allen got sacked 46 times in 13 games.
Cam Newton got sacked 6 times in 2 games.
Will Grier got sacked 6 times in 2 games.
That's 58 sacks for Panthers QB's last year. The average number of sacks if divided evenly to all their OL would be 11 per position.
Their entire OL looks like it was a mind boggling level of suck.
Oliver,
Were we after Karras at all?
Thanks for the info.

Someone on our Oline hasn't reached this level?...seems close.
He posted an hourglass on his twitter, and the twitter sleuths have images that they are deciphering that they think is at the Seattle Airport.

They're considering letting Williams walk?

Good. Didn't want that lanky softie in Blue.

You're right about Ruiz/Cushenberry.
Considering the lousy OL options in free agency right now our Draft should be :
#4 Wills...or other OT if we trade down
#36 Ruiz/Cushenberry
