honest, while the Gmen are scraping the bottom of the barrel for pieces, the Jets meanwhile have assembled quite an offensive line potentially. Ours is garbage right now. Hernandez, Zeitler, are at least somewhat good. Nick Gates, and Nate Solder are going to kill us on the ends this year again. Crazy day 2 of free agency...

So tell me are they any worse than the bums we have? Last I checked this line was abysmal and so far its the same group. But anyways. I will be a troll for having an opinion...

George Fant is 100% definitely worse than what we have at OT. Alex Lewis is worse than what we have at OG. The Jets now have a better Center.

Lewis at worst is average. He was a terrific find by Joe Douglas. Fant signing I don't especially like but he's got versatility at least. I doubt he starts. McGovern is a great signing. Still only 26.
OT and a C in the first three rounds. This will serve us well in the long run.
If I’m wrong and we go into the season with Halapio and Pulley as our Cs
, then Gettleman should be shot on the spot
I'm on this plan as well.
rd 1 - Okudah or Simmons
rd 2 - Ruiz or Cushenberry or Hennessy or Biadasz
rd 3 - Prince or Niang or Cleveland or Peart
and obviously if they can trade back somewhere and get more picks, even better.
There's only one round where you're guaranteed to get your highest-graded OT, and it ain't round three.
I should have been more clear. An LT in the first and a C in the second or third. I see no way they select Simmons or Okuda over an LT given the way this FA is unfolding and the death of OL talent on the roster.

You spent 3 years/$30 Million on a guy who won’t start? Not to mention Seattle had a pitiful OL and Fant couldn’t crack that.

It's pretty much a 1 year 9 mil dollar deal. Douglas likes versatility and athleticism out of his lineman, that's becoming apparent. Fant can help in multiple roles...both tackle spots, as a backup, in special packages etc. With where the Jets will be drafting and who might be available there he's not set in stone as the LT. If Andrew Thomas is there at 11 they're likely taking him

Even at 1 year/$9 Million that is a massive overpay
shaping up like they take an OT and a C in the draft. Pulley stinks

I knew what you were talking about, Reb. My reply was to Eric. The people who keep talking about waiting until day two or three to draft an OT drive me nuts. Nothing - and I mean absolutely nothing - should take precedence over keeping Daniel Jones upright (and helping to cut down on his fumbles). I don't want to see the early part of Jones' career look like the latter half of Eli's.
Klaatu...I'd love that draft if it included Prince, but I don't think
he's making it to our comp pick. Shit if we had our original 3rd I'm not sure he's making it there. I bet he sneaks into the second. In an ideal world I'd love a trade down for an OT, center in the 2nd, and then Prince. I just don't think taking one of these OT's is worth it in the long term at 4. IMO Okudah and Simmons are clearly better prospects than the tackles available.

I disagree, after factoring in positional value + need, along with BPA. But that's what makes horse races, right? Disagreements? So, we'll see what happens in a few months (assuming we're all still alive and the draft isn't cancelled).

Even if he was signed to be a backup, giving a backup OL $9 million for 1 year is idiotic. BTW it's not a 1 year $9 million dollar deal there is $13.7 million guaranteed so there would be dead money in 2021 and 2022 if they cut him after this year.
Every GM likes verstaility out of their offensive linemen. Fant is also 28 and hasn't been able to hold onto a starting OL spot with Seattle despite the fact that their line has been desperate for talent for years. Fant also has an extensive injury history despite limited playing time.
The McGovern signing was a good move but the Fant signing was foolish when they could have spent that money on a starting quality OT like Ricky Wagner, Bulaga, etc.
Last year you raved about the Jets decisions to trade for Osemele and sign Ryan Kalil and both moves proved to be awful decisions.

Osmele and Kalil were moves they had to make with where that offensive line was. They were good moves, sometimes players get hurt. That's just football
Fant does not grade out nearly as bad as you claim. Though I'm not in love with this particular signing Douglas has made enough good moves already(7th for Alex Lewis, Van Roten, the Leonard Williams fleecing) that I'm willing to trust him on this one

He's made enough good moves in one year? Van Roten was a good move? The Panthers also lost their best guard in Trai Turner yet made no attempt to re-sign Van Roten. The Jets acquired the 68th overall pick for Williams which is the same pick they used on Jachai Polite last year. That was another great move!
The Jets have a young QB they need to protect but they spend cap room on Fant, Lewis, and Van Roten? Fant is actually a downgrade from Kelvin Beachum who played well last year. The Jets offense is a mess as they are weak at RB, WR, OL, and TE.
Once again why are you here? All you do is post on Jets threads in some lame attempt to convince us that they are a well run organization. Why the hell don't you stick to Jets fans boards?
I wanted him and would have paid him that
I would see if Jacksonville would accept a late pick to get out of Linder’s contract
And don’t sleep on pio.
