Talk about playing your hand totally wrong. He took a gamble last season not taking the deal worth $10mil per season with the Chargers by sitting out half the season. Now he's getting $8mil per season and a short two year contract. He better hope that he can show how good he is in these two years to cash in on his next one. $10mil per season - ( New Window )
Kind of really like Gallman as backup. Shocked he didn’t get more carries.
You can say that again!
Actually I agree with you.
Wayne showed promise his rookie year, and of course got limited carries behind Saquon. When he finally got an opportunity, Gallman was injured. It was during that injury period he ended up in the dog house and Allen jumped ahead of him.
He was a very good, dependable back at Clemson, setting rushing records, led the nation in yards after contact (when Barkley was a Junior), was a good pass catcher and "money" in short yardage and goal line situations.
There may have been a reason for his drop in favor, but it's been a mystery to sports writers and fans.
Hopefully as JJ said, everyone has a clean slate this spring and they can make a fair evaluation of what they have in the "Wayne Train".
In a small sample of 190 career carries he has 6 fumbles. that's terrible. They are fairly evenly spread over his career as well so there isn't a 'bad year' or a 'spike' to account for it.
You can't survive as a role player with that level of ball security issues. I think it's why he got benched.
Completely agree. This would be a nice trade target.

I'd trade a 7th for Freeman in a heartbeat, and that might be enough (but they'll probably want a 5th). Hell, I'd do a 6th, even.
Completely agree. This would be a nice trade target.
Yeah, I don't think he'd want to be behind Saquon either, but he's the kind of low-cost hammer that would be a good role player fit for us.

Freeman is JAG... if even that. Good fit for both sides ... makes more sense than the Buffalo rumor.

The Bucs should consider Devonta Freeman, I think.
Talk about motivation...
But yeah, he was an idiot for passing on 10 mil per, and for sitting out.
