Do you mean they have a trade in place and that's your guess for the trade or you're guessing they have a trade in place?

5->9 is expensive for me. Jax would have to toss in their 2nd as well.

So how do we pay Ngakoue? We would need to cut somebody or trade a player back. Who is Jacksonville targeting with the 4th pick?

Don’t get me wrong, I would love Yannick on this team but you have to complete the trade scenario and have it make sense.

But it’s an interesting question.

Young is worth trading up for given the compensation it would likely take to move up. On a team he would likely be off the table or take Mack compensation to pry away.

Premium ER’s are arguably just as valuable as QBs. The true difference making pass rushers rarely hit the market.

Nothing in Gettleman's tenure as Giants GM indicates he prioritizes edge rushers.

Better chance he trades up for a shot at Okudah.

If such a trade would happen, DG just needs to rescind LW's tag. Between a signing bonus and guaranteed future roster bonuses, the first year salary for Yannick can easily be fit under the salary cap.

I assume he'd have to rescind LW's tag either way in this scenario simply because you can't have two players on the franchise tag simultaneously.
I don’t think there is anyway they trade for him

But if Washington/Rivera decide Haskins isn’t the guy, and they decide they want Tua instead of Winston or Newton, then I think Young could fall to the Giants.

I read a report yesterday that a story from the Combine had Rivera telling Tua if healthy they were going to draft him.

My question would be, would the people here that really want one or the offensive tackles and the people that want Simmons change their opinions if Young was there?

Yannick wouldn't be on the tag for the Giants. He would sign the tag with the Jags in order to be traded. Any trade would be with a new contract with Yannick. Now, I suppose the possibility exists with Dave that he would trade for a player and not have a new contract in place.

My guess is that MOST BBIers would take Young if he were somehow miraculously there at 4. But the only opinion of course that matters is the collective opinion of the Giants' brain trust...and my guess is that they would absolutely take Young.
Yes
rasbutant : 3/21/2020 7:49 am : link
Washington trades with QB needy team ((Miami).
Giants trade up with Detroit and take Young
Detroit takes the CB and get additional picks from the Giants
Any chance the Giants trade UP for Chase Young?
M.S. : 3/21/2020 8:24 am : link

IMO, the chances are less than 0%.
I would love it.
mittenedman : 3/21/2020 8:27 am : link
I wanted the Giants to consider trading up for Nick Bosa last year, too.

I don't think Young's at Bosa's level but I do think the Giants could sign Clowney and draft Young in the 1st round and completely change the team's outlook.

Young - Lawrence - Leonard Williams - Clowney

That's a Giants-type DLine.
*Also should add
mittenedman : 3/21/2020 8:36 am : link
I think there's at least a realistic chance the 1st round goes

1-CIN: QB Burrow
2-WAS: QB Tua
3-DET: CB Okudah

If that happens - the Giants get Chase Young. Much much stranger things have happened than that.
Take it a step further,
barens : 3/21/2020 8:52 am : link
would anyone be willing to part with our 2nd round pick for Chase Young? It would probably cost more to do so, but just spit-balling.
No but a more important question is how does DG
LBH15 : 3/21/2020 9:03 am : link
entice others to move up to #4?

Did Detroit do us a favor by dealing Slay of was it more of a push with respect to what other team's desire to move up for a QB?
I think Washington is taking Tua
BillT : 3/21/2020 9:24 am : link
If you were Rivera wouldn't you? But I still don't see a trade up for Young. Detroit would just take him. They'd think it as much of a gift as we would. Best player in the draft at #3.
I'd rather see them keep the picks they have...
Fishmanjim57 : 3/21/2020 9:29 am : link
even though Young would be a great acquisition, they have so many needs and I have no faith in DG. I wouldn't want to see another great player like Chase Young picked for the Giants if they're only going to be mediocre. I feel bad for Barkley, since his first two seasons were wasted and the careers of most RB's are 5 years long.
Tua
Philu916 : 3/21/2020 9:57 am : link
Dave Te basically stated on his pod that Wash is getting Cam once CAR cuts him. Haskins clearly is gone, or would backup and try and learn under Cam. Would Wash take Cam, but draft Tua as a red-shirt year to get healthy, and learn under Cam?
I’d give up our 3rd

No, they wouldn't. They'd sign Cam and draft Young.
Funny how I posted twice in early January about Washington maybe not drafting Young because I argued Ron Rivera is not sold on Haskins and these posts were laregely ignored or shot down with, "no way Washington drafts Haskins and disregards him a season later, he was Snyder's choice."
But I pointed out in early January, Ron Rivera is his own man, the Redskins courted him, not the other way round and his endorsement of Haskins was perfunctory.
So, I was half right. They're still drafting Chase Young. They'd be crazy to pass on him.
That f***ing game went to OT, all we needed to do was fumble the ball near our own goal line!
Dave Te throws out a lot of shit - most doesn't stick to anything
ZogZerg : 3/21/2020 10:30 am : link
Good question about trading for Young.
I highly doubt it would be feasible to do. Way too expensive.

I love the Jax trade idea.
Jax definitely in market for QB. I'd love to see that deal.

Folks, stop worrying about money. Giants have plenty of flexibility with the cap.

I have a higher floor and slightly higher ceiling for Young over Bosa, due to durability concerns. But Bosa is definitely the more pro-ready plug and play guy.

Someone is going to have the #1 pick next year and draft Trevor Lawrence. I wonder if it could be the Jaguars.
