With the additions we've made I think our 2 biggest needs are still there. Tackle protection for a QB that has struggled with the peripheral pass rush at least so far. And an edge pass rusher even if we resign Golden. Right now Giants don't have even 1 proven double digit sack guy with Fackrell more a projection than Golden
was off injury last year (in terms of getting double digit sacks).
This really leads me to believe Giants go OT and Edge round 1 and round 2. Not necessarily position reaching wither. With 4 strong OT candidates up top in this draft value does line up with need. Also in round 2 Baun, Yetur Gross Matos and Usche could all be there as great value (or via a slight trade up.)
Round 1 : Wills/Becton/Wirfs/Thomas at 4 or slight trade down
Round 2: Gross Matos, Baun, Usche at 36 or slight trade up
Who are some other round 2 pass rushers we could see here or late round 1 via slight trade up?
J'rud.
Center is potentially a big need but just like they did with Pio, I think they may try Gates there next year. He took snaps last preseason at the spot and I think they really liked what they saw. To hedge their bets there I think we see a round 3 or round 4 Center. Not saying its the ideal plan but Gates has already shown much more in terms of verstaility and NFL caliber play than Pio ever has.
If we resign Golden this is even more possible.
Our first rounder for Jax 9 and 20
Becton and Gross Matos
Our first rounder for 12 and 19
Thomas and Chaisson
2. C - no idea where they are going to get one, but it's hard to believe they go into camp with Pulley as the only vet. Unless they think of Gates as a C?
3. Edge - I expect a Barwin esque signing at some point, and there are a lot of options out there. It makes sense that they are monitoring Clowney but I think if he's cheap enough he will have an option to go elsewhere.
In the 2nd, center and FS matches up to need and talent better.

There certainly can be an argument made for those 2 positions. However edge rush is one of the most important right after QB. If we resign Golden I'd be a bit more comfortable. And even that brings us to status quo with last year pending youth maturing and Farrell's impact there.
You could be right. Which is why slight trade up was mentioned as an option.

isn't gonna last til round 2.. very much doubt that.

Trade down to get more picks, draft the best OT available, use those extra picks to trade up hoping to get someone who can rush the QB, Matos, Epensea, etc.. not a bad idea.
Becton is great but reports say DG loves Wirfs. We'll see.
But, we don't have to do it in Round 1. Last Year, DG found two solid players in round 5. Sometimes the late round picks have talent but were not in great programs and didn't get great coaching in college. I think they can go BPS at #4 and #36 and still fill a lot of holes. You know there will be a time, where a highly rated WR falls, where DG won't be able to pass. But we have 10 picks and that can bring in a lot of talent. I think we go with Solder at LT for 1 more year and we see if Columbo can bring out the best in him. We need a center and ROT. Those can be found in the middle rounds. NE's OL is a collection of mid-round picks, Same for FS. I would not be surprised if he finds two starters in rounds 3 (supplemental) and 4! I can see a free safety, a WR who drops, or a developmental OL who ends up starting after a few games. Should be interesting!
