BBI Mock Draft – DISCUSSION Thread

Matt G : 3/22/2020 7:25 pm
We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the draft.

Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two-hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (i.e. Kansas City won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.

Please utilize the BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible… Good luck!

Thought about a corner, and another OL
Andy in Halifax : 4/3/2020 10:20 am : link
But am adding a very athletic (theme) runner to the mix. AJ Dillon, Zack Moss and Darrynton Evans were mid round targets for me, was hoping one would fall this far.
Nice pick Andy
Mike in NY : 4/3/2020 10:20 am : link
If I had the Giants it would have been between Evans and one other player based on how the rest of the draft went.
Really good pick Andy
Rick in Dallas : 4/3/2020 10:22 am : link
Evans adds a nice dimension to Giants RB position
I'm with the guys on this one
MadPlaid : 4/3/2020 10:32 am : link
Evans was on my short list. Was hoping he would be there with my first pick in the 6th. Good pick, Andy. Amtoft is going to be annoyed.
I know there are other very good RBs
Andy in Halifax : 4/3/2020 10:42 am : link
But Dillon, Moss and Evans going between rounds 4 and 6 strikes me as crazy good value. I am admittedly not great when it comes to RBs but those three can flat out ball.
One of you guys took a guy I liked.
Optimus-NY : 4/3/2020 10:44 am : link
Not gonna say who or which poster now. Happened to me as well in the third round, but I got too cute then. I'll talk about it after. Fish have three guys they like coming up at Pick #185. Fatman's ahead of me now. I hope he doesn't take any of those three. Gonna wait and see. I'm ready though to pick. It's 6:44 pm where I am now.

I like Evans - I'm partial to Deejay Dallas because I think he brings a diff skillset as a role player, catches the ball, runs tough, plays good on specials, but Evans probably has a higher upside.

We took teammates back to back. Both have some strengths and question marks
Dolphins got their target at 185 in the person of Quaertney Davis.
Optimus-NY : 4/3/2020 11:34 am : link
He was the best WR on this past year's A&M squad----thanks for leaving him there for me FatMan. He'll play the slot in the pros. He's a mature guy with a young daughter to provide for who is a fine route runner. As long as he's got a QB, he'll be fine, and he's got one with Miami since I picked Tua 5th overall. This is a match with regard to value & need.

I've got my eye on two guys now when I pick next in the 7th round, since we've agreed to go that far. Looking forward to it. I pick next 227th---quite a wait between picks (41 slots between choices). I have three choices in the 7th: the aforementioned one, 246, & 251. I'm ready.
What I liked about Rogers..
FatMan in Charlotte : 4/3/2020 11:38 am : link
was that when Texas A&M was in need of a big play or a crucial first down, they often turned to Rogers first.

Yes sir. At this point in the draft, they all have question marks, but it's about fulfillment potential. This is what makes the NFL Draft great: A 6th rounder can turn out to be one of the best QBs ever (see Brady) and a first rounder can be an absolute bust (Vernon Gholston).

The Rogers kid you took should have come out last year FatMan. His size is impressive, but he can disappear for long stretches of games. The ball can eat up Davis at times, but he is a superb route runner and was a leader on his team.
I put out a call out thread for armstead98

Even though hasn't been on since yesteraday afternoon. At this point, for any team I don't see a reason to pass on top name on the list.

Missed most of this past year with a knee injury and is dropping because of it. He's a hard nosed, intelligent player who can diagnose plays quickly. I'm a big fan and I think he can stick in the NFL for awhile if his knee holds up.
Eagles pick is in...

We have had our eye on this Philly native for years. Big time PA high school player, and a huge mountain of a man. Will need lots of technique work in the pros but lots of potential.
I really like Fat Man's pick

Wouldn't surprise me if he went undrafted. Too many health question marks.

So be it. Guys with question marks related to health have been drafted nonetheless. When I say go higher I don't mean the first 3 rounds. Anything after those 3 rounds is up for grabs. You've got to get solid prospects in those rounds. It's a crapshoot from the 4th or maybe 5th round on.
