BBI Mock Draft – DISCUSSION Thread

Matt G : 3/22/2020 7:25 pm
We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the draft.

Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two-hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (i.e. Kansas City won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.

Please utilize the BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible… Good luck!

I had a work emergency

No need to apologize - just having fun busting balls!

Not me! I'm truly miffed. Prioritizing the job over the mock draft!! How could you?!?

I think this quarantining business is getting to me.

Pats select DB Josh Metellus S Michigan
Torrag : 4/4/2020 4:54 pm : link
I like his versatility, movement and open field tackling ability.
The Vikings pick is in.
johnnyb : 4/4/2020 6:58 pm : link
Jack Driscoll has the mobility and technique to succeed, he just needs to add the strength in order to endure the trenches. He can also move inside to G.
The first of back to backs
Torrag : 4/5/2020 12:35 am : link
Pats Select K Tyler Bass. Gostkowski finally got old and Bass made an impressive 93% of his kicks under 50 yards and has a high rate of touchbacks on kickoffs. He'll get a chance in camp to win the job or perhaps get a kickoff specialty role with the expanded rosters.
Pats select WR Isaiah Coulter
Torrag : 4/5/2020 12:45 am : link
The kid has NFL size and AA. Small school raw but with real upside.
Matt

FYI, your spreadsheet lists Khaleke Hudson to New England not Josh Metellus
Thanks, Mike

Credit to MadPlaid as well. Trust me, I don’t want to be the person managing the spreadsheet and reminding people. If I can make things easier for Matt so he keeps doing it then I am happy to help. Hopefully we can make progress today and tomorrow as Passover starts Wednesday evening and I would really prefer not ending the Mock Draft in the middle of the Seder.

I share your feelings regarding assisting Matt. Anything I can do to help him manage the draft is a good thing. Actually, most of the managers do little things that really help. We have a really good bunch here

The clock is only turned on 9 AM-6 PM Monday through Friday. It is off from 6 PM Friday until 9 AM following Monday. Also, SYS has picked.
Ah!!!! My bad

Thanks Mike!! Thanks for doing this
I wonder who Andy will take
Mike in NY : 4/5/2020 2:46 pm : link
Shockingly, the player I had as 1A for the Giants when Andy took Evans is still on the board
I'm going to bed now fellas.
Optimus-NY : 4/5/2020 4:04 pm : link
It's 12:04 am where I am now. I pick in another ten slots, 227th overall for the Fins. I'll be around when the clock starts up again officially.
Ay Caramba
Matt G : 4/5/2020 4:42 pm : link
We really got bogged down today to start RD7... I'm swamped for a significant portion of the day tomorrow and Tuesday, so hopefully we can pick up the pace and close this out before we extend into the holidays.
Call out started
Matt G : 4/5/2020 7:13 pm : link
Fahk boys, really sorry.
Andy in Halifax : 4/5/2020 10:03 pm : link
When I left work yesterday I guessed I was good until Monday. My bad. I'll pick quickly. Board is on my work comp so apologies if I frig this up. I know I really had my eyes on Driscoll and Reid but both gone so it was an edge rusher or TE I think at the top?? I will give a quick 2 min look around then pick.
Sorry again fellas.
Andy in Halifax : 4/5/2020 10:14 pm : link
Dalton Keene, TE, Virginia Tech

Underused sleeper TE. Tested the best out of all TE's in the combine athletically (not saying much, its a bad crop of athletes at TE this year) But his scores were above average for any year actually and obviously I am banking on him being better than his production at VT. You could argue he was criminally under used in that offense and may be a better pro than college player if used properly. But he might also be a fringe or worse NFL prospect, who knows. This is the 7th round after all but he does look good when you watch him and has very nice hands. VT coaches apparently rave about his character as well. Decent blocker and can play in-line, HBack or fullback.
Nice pick with Keene
Mike in NY : 4/6/2020 3:42 am : link
Was hoping he’d fall to me at 225 because he was really underused at Virginia Tech. See a lot of untapped potential and not the Pinocchio as a Motivational Speaker kind.
I always forget how UDFA goes?
Saos1n : 4/6/2020 8:13 am : link
Complete free for all after the last pick? Or is there a time associate with it? Like if the draft finishes at 1pm, is there a post saying, starting at 2PM, players can be claimed?

Complete free for all on Selection thread after final pick. You can select up to 5 players. First come first serve but you can always replace players if you accidentally select someone that another team picked. Usually people once they have their five will monitor the thread to indicate if you accidentally duplicated.
Attention all Mock participants
Mike in NY : 4/6/2020 8:25 am : link
By my count we have 37 picks left. We have had days where we have gotten through 20-22 picks so if everyone pays attention it is not impossible that we could finish this sometime tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up, Mike
MadPlaid : 4/6/2020 8:30 am : link
However, I have a feeling the 7th round is going to move slowly. We’ve never done this round before, so I think a lot of managers are going to take more time to make their selections. Just a feeling

His nickname was Rambo in college.

Definitely played more of H-Back role, where he moved around to TE or in-line fullback.

He would play a Travis Beckum type role in 2011 Super Bowl.

I know I am a hopeless optimist, but johnnyb (who is on the clock) was online earlier and posted on another thread and I was hoping to get some momentum as Wednesday evening starts Passover.
I emailed him late last night and again this am
Matt G : 4/6/2020 9:15 am : link
Takes a little bit to regain lost momentum...

I have CLE and ARI next picks so hopefully we can get back up and running

But as mentioned over the weekend, I'm pretty slammed with work today and tomorrow, so hopefully everyone can do their part
Also just sent those picks to Mike in NY

Knowing that we have 2 of the next 3 after johnnyb picks makes me feel a lot better. My biggest concern was that with Passover and Easter I did not want to see people getting autodrafted because they were doing something for either or both.
The Vikings pick is in.
johnnyb : 4/6/2020 10:28 am : link
Sorry for the delay guys. I had a busier morning than anticipated.

The 49ers beat m to Jeff Thomas. I had him pencilled in last night.

coulter displays a nice blend of size and speed. Big adjustment to the NFL but as a seventh round pick the risk is minimal.

I know I posted it elsewhere, but Coulter was already selected. Please pick again.
Please select again

Coulter gone already
VIKING RE-PICK IS IN.
johnnyb : 4/6/2020 10:56 am : link
WR JOE REED, VIRGINIA.

SORRY FOR TH CONFUSION. BUSY MORNING.
There goes all my UDFA's
Jay on the Island : 4/6/2020 12:19 pm : link
Since Tampa doesn't have a 7th I was hoping for Coulter, James Morgan, and Charlie Heck as UDFA's.
Cleveland is around
Lionhart28 : 4/6/2020 12:58 pm : link
Matt, I don't think you have my next picks. All 3 guys from my last e-mail are gone.
I am around
Mike in NY : 4/6/2020 1:10 pm : link
I don't expect Tennessee to select the player I have queued up, but even if he did I have a long enough "short list" that I am just going to erase as needed and whomever is left will be my UDFA targets.
I'm ready to go at 227 for Miami.
Optimus-NY : 4/6/2020 1:15 pm : link
3 picks ahead of me though. I've got my eyes set on somebody now. It's 9:13 pm where I am. I'll try my best to stay awake till a little past midnight my time (which would be a little past 4 pm NY time). This way I'm off the clock till the next day and won't get auto-picked, if worst comes to worst.
Ravens final pick is in
Mike in NY : 4/6/2020 1:53 pm : link
Since I am already dead to Amtoft I felt it was safe to use that image!

In all seriousness, I had about 25 names left on whom I have draftable grades, but Breeland was the only TE with the size to play TE so that was the deciding factor. The other players all play positions where there are multiple names on my list. The Ravens traded Hayden Hurst to Atlanta, but they still like to use 2 and 3 TE sets so having a cheaper replacement doesn't hurt. Breeland I think would have been a 3rd or 4th Rounder had he not gotten hurt. Oregon's O definitely was not the same without him in the line-up. Figured it was worth the gamble in Round 7.
Damn
SirYesSir : 4/6/2020 2:20 pm : link
i was going to take Jared Hilburs....what are the odds?
Fish go for the D again....lol
Optimus-NY : 4/6/2020 2:40 pm : link
Went for Samuels. He's got a lot of talent and has good bloodlines with his pop having been a Nole back in the 90s. Dolphins get an in-state kid to add to the defensive backfield. He's got a good frame at 6'2" & it'd be interesting to see how he would fit into the Dolphins' equation in their secondary. He was a good value at this point and adds talent to an area that could use more of a talent infusion.

I pick again 19 slots from now at 246, than at 251 after that. I'll create another board when I'm a few picks away. Right now I think it's safe for me to knock out since it's 10:40 pm my time (that being 2:40 pm NY time). I'll catch you fellas on the flip side. Peace.
checking out the board
Torrag : 4/6/2020 4:46 pm : link
pick will be in shortly
Pats select OL Tremayne Anchrum
Torrag : 4/6/2020 5:14 pm : link
Clemson recruited behind him three years in a row but he never left the field. Tough minded and tough player. Got better every year. I think he'll carve out a career in the NFL.
Sorry for posting comment on selection thread
