BBI Mock Draft – DISCUSSION Thread

Matt G : 3/22/2020 7:25 pm
We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the draft.

Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two-hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (i.e. Kansas City won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.

Please utilize the BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible… Good luck!

Cowboys select Carter Coughlin

Coughlin is a tweeter who might add some juice to rushing the passer. Probably a special teams player this year
The Pack's pick is in

Thank you, Sy, for the tip. His write up of John Penisini piqued my interest for a late round flyer on a down in the dirt D-Lineman who makes his teammates better.

I would imagine his nickname

Bryce Huff
Andy in Halifax : 4/7/2020 7:56 am : link
I can imagine dropping into space will be a challenge for HUff, but he's picked as a passrusher. Did a pro day recently, likely inflated stats somewhat but his results: 40 (4.53); shuttle (4.21); vertical (38); bench (23 reps); broad jump (10.5).

He's also a very productive passrusher

Coughlin would have been nice, but I am fine with this in 7.

Usually we do it straight on the selection thread with comments only allowed for the sake of notifying people if they have accidentally duplicated someone already selected.

MadPlaid : 4/7/2020 12:40 pm : link
Kyle Murphy is from a small school. He has position flexibility which I think is a strength. Played tackle in his final college season, but he projects to C/G in the pros. He can step in at tackle in a pinch. Good player to have as a backup.

lol. Touche. Nah man, it's his boo-boo. H can make his pick, but it can't be Pinkney. Remember when the clock ran out for the vikings a few years back during the actual draft? The team after them made their pick right away. I made mine. I checked first and was prepared. Same should apply. Let Pete pick, but it can't be Pinkney. It's what's fair.

Cut the guy some slack. You'd be tired too at 10:30 PM. Fortunately most of BBI is kind and when a good faith mistake is made won't screw over the other person.
Thanks Mike

I know Madplaid is joking, lol. I am tired. I'm trying my best to do this with you guys despite being 8 hours ahead of you and working all friggin day. Teaching online is NOT easy. I had to prepare lessons while doing this. I wanna watch Better Call Saul now too.

We need to keep this in mind going forward as well. Mix ups like this are more likely to happen the further down the rabbit hole we go. We've never done 7 rounds before. Mistakes like Pete's are more likely to occur in the 6th and 7th rounds. I'll try and stay up until 12:15 am my time, which would be 4:15 pm NY time, so that I have the clock on my side before my next pick for the Fish (#251).

Debating between 2 guys...
Andy in Halifax : 4/7/2020 3:36 pm : link
Both looking like PS guys but with some potential. I'm not spending any time though, I will pick immediately
DJ Wonnum
Andy in Halifax : 4/7/2020 3:40 pm : link
Some decent TFLs (for 7th rounder) and actually had a great combine. My thinking... a seaosn on the PS may help him develop a bit of strength. Has great length (esp arms) and moves well. But looks like he needs to hit the gym, not much definition. But he did test well... so I am taking a gamble that he's not maxed out and could be a sleeper?

Dang it. He was probably my top UDFA target. I have been looking at him since the start of the 6th Round, but with the depth of Edge rushers I kept passing on him

Thanks Mike. I'll pass though. I like to make all of my picks in person and in real time. It's safe harbor time now anyway since it's past 4 pm NY time (12:22 am my time and 4:22 pm NY time). I have until tomorrow. I'm an early riser though----5 am my time, which is 9 pm your time. So, I should be able to pick shortly thereafter, with it still being off the clock. Besides, there shouldn't be any rush. We'll finish off the tail end of Round 7 tomorrow God willing, along with UDFA.

Have a good night. Just figured I would offer.
One last thing:
Optimus-NY : 4/7/2020 4:29 pm : link
Boatie Warrant is next at 248 for the Texans. He has picks 248 and 250. Let's cut him some slack. If he can't make it by 5:37 pm, then give him until tomorrow at 9 am. Just an opinion. Anywho. I'm off to bed now with it being just about 12:30 am now where I am. See you at Pick #251. I'll be sure to make it within the agreed upon time restrictions since the clock stops at 6 pm NY time and doesn't start up again until 9 am NY time the next day (Wednesday). You'll probably see my pick at a strange hour---10 pm or 11 pm, or so, your time. Things are under control. Peace out 4 now good folks.
Thank you Mike in NY
Optimus-NY : 4/7/2020 4:32 pm : link
The offer is much appreciated. I don't want you to think I'm not grateful for the offer. you guys are doing a great job. Without you, this would not be going as smoothly.
The Viking's Selection is in
johnnyb : 4/7/2020 5:03 pm : link
Mitchell Wilcox has great hands and can get vertical. With Kyle Rudolph production down, Wilcox can steal some snaps form the aging veteran.
My last pick in the Fins is in
Optimus-NY : 4/7/2020 10:31 pm : link
I took Brian Cole II, the safety out of Mississippi State with my last choice (251 overall). He's a big, physical dude who's going to need some development, but the tools are there. He was originally a WR, but switched to the defensive side of the foosbal. He'll contribute on STs to start and then have a shot. This is a good opportunity for him and a nice value selection at this point in the draft. The Dolphins need all the help they can get still, despite Free Agency and their windfall of picks in this draft.

The TE I took immediately prior to Cole II was a pretty good value too. Jared Pinkney out of Vandy isn't a classical blocking TE, but this isn't 1990 anymore. He's a willing blocker who can mix it up, if need be. He has talent and athleticism. He talked about how the Patriots said he had a "loser's mentality" at the combine when he responded to one of their questions in a way they didn't like. He'll get the chance to shove that right back in their faces with a former Patriots coach as his head coach.

Anywho, time to get ready for undrafted free agency mania. I've already got one guy I want and who I think will help. I need to list some others, but that will have to wait until I have some free time later. Time to get ready for work now, so I gotsta go. It's about 6:30 am where I am now. Hope you mongoes are all well. Big ups to Matt G, Mike in NY, and Madplaid for keeping this operation running smoothly. We should be able to finish up this bad boy (the last few picks of the 7th round and undrafted free agency) in the next day or so, and then begin to reflect on it.
I meant to say that that Pinkney gets to play the Pats twice a year
Optimus-NY : 4/7/2020 10:33 pm : link
now that he's on the Dolphins in this hypothetical scenario. I'm still seeing double here, lol. Too much tired!
