BBI Mock Draft – DISCUSSION Thread

Matt G : 3/22/2020 7:25 pm
We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the draft.

Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two-hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (i.e. Kansas City won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.

Please utilize the BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible… Good luck!

Why does the BBI Mock Draft happen

In order to do 6 rounds (or possibly a full 7 with people quarntined) it takes 3-4 weeks since we don't have the timer going on weekends. It takes approximately 2-3 business days to complete a round.

you have SF taking Ruggs at 13, but they took CeeDee Lamb.
Thanks

I almost got cute and went CB, thinking I can get a WR in the 2nd, but chose to go with my board and take one of the best players in this draft in Jeudy

The initial list was incorrect. San Francisco had taken Lamb, not Ruggs. Do you still want Jeudy?
Yes, I made the pick knowing Lamb was taken

A great pick. JJ was the Raiders pick at 12 and I have him as a top 10 player in this draft. I know WR is deep, but JJ is amazing and to me is far and away the best WR in a loaded draft class. I still almost took him at 12 and if QB wasn't so important I would have.
If you don’t trade
Carl in CT : 3/24/2020 1:08 pm : link
And take an OL at #4 he better be Quenton Nelson.
I really like Kenneth Murray
Amtoft : 3/24/2020 1:20 pm : link
I think in a normal draft without 3-4 QB, 4-5 OT expected to go in the top 15 he would be drafted even high.
Yeah Murray has a really nice combination of athleticism and “clean”
NoGainDayne : 3/24/2020 1:49 pm : link
I think a lot of the time with youth and talent like he has you don’t get the work ethic. I like that he puts up numbers for stopping the run, rushing the passer and coverage.

He’s all over the field. Think he might go lower than this and I considered guys like Henderson and Chaisson and while he doesn’t have the upside of a shutdown corner or a premier pass rusher he could change the face of a defense and has a much higher floor than either of those guys IMO.
Nice pick NoGainDayne
MadPlaid : 3/24/2020 1:50 pm : link
I was hoping Murray would drop to Green Bay. Pipe dream in the end. The Packers really need help with their ILBs.
Noooo
Amtoft : 3/24/2020 1:51 pm : link
my hope for this draft was Jerry Jeudy at 12 and CJ Henderson at 19. I ended up with neither so sad. Henderson has some issues, but man what a cover corner. If he was 100% in every game he is a top 10 pick.
Cowboys select CJ Henderson
Rick in Dallas : 3/24/2020 1:56 pm : link
Henderson fills a huge need for Cowboys after Jones departure in free agency. He was also the BPA remaining on the Cowboys draft board.

You were never getting Murray. Had he fallen to the Ravens he likely would have been BPA and I would have felt compelled to take him as I don't think the Ravens adequately addressed the loss of some veteran LB's and that ended up costing them.
Something I am noticing...
Amtoft : 3/24/2020 2:02 pm : link
I really like every player that has been selected so far. Usually there is one player I am like please don't draft that guy, but so far in our draft I have liked every prospect. That is about to change, but pretty crazy this deep that not one player I didn't like has been taken.
Got my two targets for the Fish at 5 and 18
Optimus-NY : 3/24/2020 2:02 pm : link
Tua was the obvious target at 5 for the Fins and Chaisson was my guy at 18. Love Chaisson' He's gonna be a monster.
Mike
MadPlaid : 3/24/2020 2:10 pm : link
Funny thing, I was thinking you were the person most likely to take any guy I like best right before I get a shot at him.
Ok ok...
Amtoft : 3/24/2020 2:22 pm : link
Some people don't have Justin Jefferson as a top 20 player, but I do. He may fall to the second round because of how deep this draft is? If that happens people are idiots. I love this kids playing ability. His hands, catch radius, his agility, acceleration, etc. Last year I drafted AJ Brown for the Raiders in the first round and caught some slack for it. He went out and posted an over 1000 yard season with 8 TDs as a rookie. Justin Jefferson is better than AJ Brown. I have him as the 2nd best WR in the draft and yes that means above CeeDee Lamb who is great.

I really wanted a CB bad as that is the Raiders most glaring need, but after Jeff Okudah and CJ Henderson that to me only left Kristian Fulton. Talent wise I would have drafted him, but the suspension he got I cant talk to him or do what the NFL does and research how much of an issue that may still be. The risk was to great and Jefferson was just cleaner. I also though of another LSU guy Delpit who I love love love, but I really think the Raiders need another good WR badly.

Hey now!!
Henry Ruggs III is the pick for the Jags
Kevin in CT : 3/24/2020 3:02 pm : link
Didn't think he'd make it to me here but I'm glad he did. After the DT and CB that I wanted were picked earlier in the round I'm more than happy to select the burner out of Alabama. I saw Ruggs play live against New Mexico State and the first play was a swing pass for a 75 yard TD where he went untouched. Probably the fastest player I've seen in a football uniform to date. Jags need to give Minshew all the weapons to make his job easier and Ruggs will play a pivotal role in that.
Checking out the Board now
Torrag : 3/24/2020 3:18 pm : link
If I had to guess what the Pats will do is trade down. There are at least six players here I'd be happy with. Just waiting on Chris and johnnyb.

Interesting you say that because there are only 2 players clearly at the top of my “board” and then it really drops off to players who I can get comparable names with my two second round picks
Mike after I pick I'll tell you who I liked

Can you hold off until after I pick? I don’t want my guys on the list and others scoop them up.
Eagles pick is in...
Chris in Philly : 3/24/2020 4:46 pm : link
We expected one of our top WR's to be available for us, but that little mini-run knocked off the last two I considered at 21. So then it was down to three players that have been linked to the Eagles by various sources. Of those, this guy seems like the most Eagles-style player, especially with Malcolm Jenkins moving on. He has definitely missed time with injuries, and he needs technique work on his tackling, but we think he can be the next great game-breaking LSU safety.
Delpit
Amtoft : 3/24/2020 4:48 pm : link
is a stud. That Defense was stacked and Delpit was probably my favorite defensive player on that team.

He also seems to have the right personality and skillset for a Jim Schwartz defense to boot. It feels slightly off to take a safety in the first round for the Eagles but they don't appear to go off the same actuarial charts as the Banner days...
Vikings pick is in.
johnnyb : 3/24/2020 5:31 pm : link
Sorry for the delay- phone keeps ringing, clients want to discuss their portfolios.

I was torn as the Vikings have a few holes to fill as free agency and a trade weakened two positions. Edge rushers are tough to find, and with the very real possibility of DE Everson Griffin not returning to the Vikings, and with a couple of other departures along the DL, this seemed like the right pick.
As I said earlier I believe the Pats would trade down here...
Torrag : 3/24/2020 6:04 pm : link
would love to add some picks but with this format my shortlist of players(in no particular order was):

Delpit- Pats value DB's and their tandem is aging...gone to philly

Gross Matos- powerful two way DE...gone to minny
Jordan Love- obvious reasons
Denzel Mims- I have a very high grade on Mims
Josh Jones- so much value in this OT class and the Pats O-line was mediocre last season
Cesar Ruiz- does everything well and is just going to keep getting better

You gotta choose one in the selection thread!
I went with Love
Torrag : 3/24/2020 6:29 pm : link
I think he's cerebral enough to develop for their offense. Struggled some with the coaching and offense change this year but it should be a good experience for what he'll need to do in the NFL.

The tools are all there.

New Orleans Saints pick is in
Saos1n : 3/24/2020 7:02 pm : link
Was really sweating if Jordan Love would make it to 24. One spot short. In a real draft, once he made it to the 20-22 range, I would’ve been on the phones.

With that said, we have lacked a playmaker, opposite of Michael Thomas, in a long time.

Tee Higgins gives us another playmaker on the outside for one last run with Brees under center
Fish are ready to pick.....AGAIN!

The Vikings had to address
johnnyb : 3/25/2020 8:05 am : link
the CB position early in the draft. Losing both Trae Waynes and Mackenzie Alexander to free agency, and releasing Xavier Rhodes, CB was a huge hole that needed to be addressed.

It was truly joyful when one year someone not only complained about the Giant selections in the mock draft, they demanded that we remove the Giants’ mock draft GM. Funny how mocks imitate life.
My two players are still there

Jay on the Island : 3/25/2020 9:50 am : link
I could see Miami's three picks working out that way. Josh Jones is a raw prospect but he has a big upside.
Jones was #1 on my list
Mike in NY : 3/25/2020 9:56 am : link
With the retirment of Yanda, I think Jones could be a Day 1 starter at OG. Thankfully Seattle did not take the #2 guy on my list so I think that is the direction that I will go although I am just reviewing to make sure I definitely want to do that.
Baltimore Ravens pick is in
Mike in NY : 3/25/2020 10:09 am : link
Ever since I was mentioning two guys at the top of my board those two were Jones (who Miami scooped up from me - that mongo) and Queen. After those two I really felt that what was left would be comparable to what I will end up selecting with my 2nd Round picks so overall I am happy that at least one was still there. The biggest issue with Queen is that his size is not quite ideal. That being said, the Ravens do have the beefy DL to keep blockers off of him. Queen's versatility will also allow him to be used in numerous ways in Wink's defense.
Mike
MadPlaid : 3/25/2020 10:11 am : link
Funny, you always manage to select the players I am scouting for the Pack. Queen was close to the top of my list for my pick. This is going to be a long mock draft with you picking just in front of me the whole way. yea
