I just got done watching some highlight videos of OT-Nate Wozniak when he played Tight End. IMHO, he has a better chance playing TE than he does playing OT. He is just too narrow to put on the kind of bulk & strength necessary to play on the line. He only ran a 5.1 second 40 yard dash at his pro day and he only did 16 reps of 225 on the bench press. Not OT material, but as a blocking TE he has a chance to succeed. Considering the signing of Toilolo I think Wozniak might be in the same category.
I like TEs that can block. I have been disappointed for ages watching our TEs get blown up & running plays fail because of it. I have been hoping for better blocking all around from the O-line as well as the TE's & FB for years. I loved having Howard Cross & Charles Way almost as much as I loved having Maurice Carthon & Mark Bavaro. We have our QB & RB but they cannot operate without solid blocking all around. I hope that we draft a starting OT, a future starting OT, and a starting Center in this draft. I also hope that these coaches consider blocking to be the #1 job requirement for the TEs & FBs. I believe Wozniak could help us as a Tight End and I hope he gets a chance there instead of at OT.
The Saints signed former Giant TE Jerrel Adams in December and released Wozniak.
The Giants put TE Engram on IR, and signed Wozniak last December.
Considering all these moves involved TEs, its quite possible the Giants view Wozniak as a TE. Whatever his position, he is a long shot for a roster spot.
