Easy to forget because not a one of them played like a first rounder. They had moments, but not many, and none of them had a positive effect in the won loss column.
This defense will never improve until it develops a consistent pass rush. There isn't a single player in the front seven that needs to be doubled teamed. No DC in the NFL loses sleep the week before playing the Giants.
We have a unique weapon on offense. A player that can score any time from anywhere on the field. But last year we seemed determined to run him between the tackles behind a mediocre offensive line. The lack of creativity on offense was mind numbing.
So here we go pick #4. Too high for a offensive line. Too low to get Chase. My expectations are low.
Baker i agree, but nobody bats 1000. that being said, corner is a probably the second hardest position to adjust to in NFL so lets see how he plays this year. if we were to hit on 2 of the 3, its great. all 3 is a homerun and not something that is common
All pro's? No. Pieces to build around going forward? Yes.
Many great pass rushers are drafted in every round. Our very own Michael Strahan was a 2nd round pick. Osi a 2nd round pick. Tuck a 3rd round pick. Kiwi was the last pick of the 1st round. John Randall The HOF DT for the Vikings was undrafted. Danielle Hunter of the Vikings was a 3rd round pick as was the guy everybody loves Yannick Ngakoue.
We can't reach for one, we can't overdraft. We have to allow the draft to bring the BPA and hope that our scouts, coaches and GM can find a player with lots of natural ability they can coach up and put in a position to succeed.
What is your definition of a consistent pass rush?
Dexter Lawrence played as well as advertised.
His 24 touchdown passes was the fourth-most by a rookie quarterback in a single season in NFL history.
To be fair, you can say that about everyone after year 1.
Based on Year one production, though, I don't get the OP claim.
Phil Simms
Eli Manning
Daniel Jones
Good grief.
The ball came out quick with Eli, and his stats took a hit. But that was a disaster of block of defenses to throw him out there especially behind that Oline. Complicated offense too.
So we are even.
Phil Simms
Eli Manning
Daniel Jones
Probably Jones. Eli scared the crap out of me, his rookie starts were brutal until the Dallas game. That last drive showed me what he could be.
I was a big Phil fan after his rookie year. He wasn't great, but the Giants won 6 of his 11 starts, something we hadn't seen in a while. After watching Pisarcik for too many years, Phil looked like peak Johnny U!
There are a slew of really fucking stupid threads created today.

Cabin fever most likely :-)
Phil Simms
Eli Manning
Daniel Jones
Jones. Eli did show guts with in the final game of his rookie year against Dallas. But overall Jones had an very good year given his poor OLine play last year.
"I just drank WHAT???"
Maybe you could ask, "How's Elvis?"

So, you weren't happy with Jones' rookie year, but come up with this bunk re: Eli's rookie year.
I love this place.
Patience.
Oops, I forgot Slayton. So that's 4 key starters
Daniel Jones showed far more than anyone expected last season but I won't waste anymore time pointing out how stupid this thread is.
I'm hopeful the best is yet to come with all of them.
