The #Panthers tried to send Cam Newton to the #Bears and #Chargers. They found no takers and at this point, no starting jobs available. Release was the only option. Carolina has just $2M in dead money with this release, but Cam is now free.
I wonder if the same will happen to Lamar Jackson. He's, even more, an injury waiting to happen.
Jackson seems a lot ess of a clown and a more willing to keep working at being a QB. The issue is that IMO I don’t care how gifted you are, thst style of QB just isn’t sustainable I the NFL. Getting by on athleticism as a kid in college for few years is much easier than trying to do it into your late 20s when your body isnt as forgiving.
Jackson needs to become Rodgers not Cam. Can he is the question
about his ability to still play at a high level, especially because accuracy was always a problem and now he doesn't look the same after the shoulder. But, I think he gets another shot.

He’ll get another shot but I think those concerns are very valid. His whole game was based on his athleticism. That’s been compromised.

RE: After Rhule said he was looking forward to working with him?
The way the Newton situation has been handled has been roundly panned here. Even by long-time beats who rarely diss the team.
Scott Fowler, the beat reporter that is closest to the team had an excellent article about it. Here's an excerpt:
Quote:
Meanwhile, if you are keeping score at home, that makes three Panthers icons to have left the team in the past two months. And only one of those three departures went smoothly. Could no one from the Panthers organization get these guys on the same page?
While the decision to part ways with Newton makes football sense — Bridgewater is 3 1/2 years younger, not as banged up and went 5-0 as a starter for New Orleans in 2019 — the team sure could have handled this better.
Let’s review: While Luke Kuechly’s videotaped retirement went fine, tight end Greg Olsen later insisted that what the Panthers called a “mutual” parting of the ways in late January was, in fact, not mutual at all.
And now we have Newton — prideful, volatile, charismatic and obviously angry with the way it has ended under a head coach in Matt Rhule, who clearly has decided to do a deep cleaning of the Panthers’ roster.
Newton’s social-media response Tuesday to the Panthers’ announcement that he can seek a trade is worth printing in full.
“STOP WITH THE WORD PLAY!!” he wrote in his signature font. “ i never asked for it!! THERE IS NO DODGING THIS ONE; i love the @panthers TO DEATH AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU GUYS!! PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND PLAY ME, or MANIPULATE THE NARRATIVE AND ACT LIKE I WANTED THIS; you forced me into this!!”

Olsen replied to Newton’s diatribe on social media with two words: “Sounds familiar.” It’s not a good look for Rhule, owner David Tepper or general manager Marty Hurney to have both Newton and Olsen disputing the facts of their respective breakups.
To some extent, even this mess could be predicted.

The most ironic thing about your response is for a recent poster, you've railed on Gettleman for things he's said and doing something different, and how that's bad. But apparently not here.
A couple more pithy responses, and you'll expose yourself as the reincarnation of a really insufferable poster. Cam's release - ( New Window )
I guess Rhule isn’t getting the Gettleman treatment?

Especially about the clown suit and ascot part.
What a wimp. Biggest game of his career and he is making business decisions in front of the whole world.
I honestly never liked him and this sealed it for me.
Would not surprise me
Especially about the clown suit and ascot part.
+1
He is absolutely cooked.

And, to top it off, he's a braggart.

Ha ha, spot on.

You really seemed to latch onto this, huh?

Cam's release - ( New Window )
Gettleman was heavily criticized for moving on from veteran Panther players when he was the GM there.
