Good special teams guy and big body receiver in RZ. Not a "big time" player ever but a solid guy. Good luck.
Big strong guy; played hard; gave it his all; looked like a productive receiver in certain games; and then essentially disappeared in all the others.
Something of an enigma IMO.
Maybe the answer is simply this: He is more of a special teams guy who can fill in as a receiver than a receiver who can fill in as a special teams guy.
If Coleman shows what he did last preseason, I'd rather have him. Add Shep, Tate, Slayton and Core, and that leaves 1-2 spots at most. With all the promising WRs coming out and a couple of other returning guys, I'd like to give the other 1-2 spots to some youngsters.
and has only 70 receptions and 6 TDs. That kind of production should be easy to replace. No big lose.
This. At best w the Giants he would be the 4th WR. 6th option behind Barkley and Engram ahead of his when healthy of course. Slayton passed him easily. Wish him well except twice a year
He made a few impressive, contested catches. But a guy with his toolset should have been able to get open occasionally. Now he gets to disappoint a third fan base.
Don't get me wrong, I do like a lot of the moves this team has made this Free Agency but some of the in-house choices really baffle me. How do we sign Corey Coleman who has had injury issues before and not performed to the standard expected of him yet we let Cody Latimer walk? Latimer has at least been a great option for us at Wide Receiver and has performed well given the role he has.
keep the defenders occupied at top, seems to not have been a good route runner, let's say not very Toomer-esque. Disapears at times, could be function of randomness of a 3rd WR, D taking away from his not multi-dimensional skillset or maybe his head is not in the game at times.
Would have liked to seen him on sweep, big bodied, fast and strong, but Shurmer preferred Engrams or a random street FA.

The best thing about Latimer was his availability. Other than that he was just a guy running around in a blue jersey. I always expected more of him and he disappointed. He played a lot for the Giants and only had 24 receptions for us last year. He was basically a starter and only caught 24 passes. Bennie Fowler in a much lesser role caught 23 passes. We can do better. Nothing against Latimer but he's been in the league 6 years. We have seen his best imo.

LOL this is hilarious. The “mistake” was signing him last year. He was a waste of money and a roster spot. When Sheppard and Tate were both out he was invisible. He sucks.
up to his potential when the Giants initially signed him, but he was a complete non-factor.
We could have gotten as much production from any of the guys behind him on the depth chart. We should have cut him last year and kept Alonzo Shepard. At least he had potential.

DeAndre Baker is off somewhere smiling....
This is very good for his statistics. He gets to face off against Latimer two times a year now!

Wait, are you talking about when you control Latimer in Madden? Perhaps you are just good at the game, and it has nothing to do with the character?
Cause Latimer sucks pretty badly in real life. I'm glad he is staying in the division. He should help our pass defense when we face the Skins.
In 6 years his season high was 300 yards receiving

Do you really think Baker will be covering Latimer very often? I think Latimer is probably the 4th or 5th (at best) WR on the Redskins depth chart.

If we are lucky, yes. Let's get two solid starters in here, and let Baker sit and learn a bit. Take a year to master his craft. Maybe come on the field in Dime situations.... Then the year after he can maybe try to prove himself.

Funny thing about Cody Latimer.

I liked him too for some illogical, inexplicable reason.
I mean, it certainly wasn't because of his play.
But he did next to nothing. Instead a rookie 6th rounder seized the opportunity. That's all you need to know.

This. And what Beer Man said. Looks like a player but does not produce.

As long as it's not Russel Shepard. I would be despondent.
Agreed. I liked him, but he can't stay healthy, 4-5 big plays a year does not warrant a spot. This one does not hurt.
