Background - Jason Garrett’s voice in the draft room will be a very persuasive voice because he he brings with him an outstanding record of offensive success. In Dan Jones, he has the QB that he’s never had, to fully realize the full potential of his type of football - a classic stand-and-deliver guy. He has Saquon, the guy who forces the defense to respect the L..O.S; but this REAL goal is to strike deep and often.
To make it all happen, he needs an OT that can protect Jones’ blind sideband and a center who can keep the pocket clean. He has Slayton to go deep, he needs a speed guy on the other side that scares defenses.
That’s how the NFL is built today - It favors those that can put up a LOT of points, fast. That’s why KC is the Super Bowl Champion.

In free agency the Giants have been careful and cautious, that's fine, I get it (you built a steady foundation). In the draft, when you have fresh young talent, that's where you strike with gusto.
Wirfs & Ruiz are two young studs that will very quickly contribute; Henry Ruggs is a game breaker; Dillon is a tackle breaking brute with speed - to get all that, "you don't get something for nothin'"

However way they do it Tackle, Center, and Receiver seems logical with three of first four picks. Deep draft for receivers probably pushes that position down a bit and maybe pushes a free safety up. The wild card is do they squeeze an edge rusher into that 2nd round slot.
Interesting Draft!
I don't think it could ever happen, but great if it does.
One quibble. I look askance at this statement of yours:
"In Dan Jones, he has the QB that he’s never had, to fully realize the full potential of his type of football - a classic stand-and-deliver guy."
Are you kidding?
You vastly under-rate the abilities of Dak Prescott.
One that wonders how you can figure out player names to pull out of your ass when you get a basic thing like the pick position that you get in a trade incorrect.
There's a huge difference between a #6 and the #12 pick. Massive.
But hey, you looked up some players on the World Wide Web and fake picked them for the Giants.
Bravo.
I dunno, OP, only 3 out of 10 picks for a really bad D, and none till the 5th (from N Dak St)?? I like your individual players in the upper rounds, sure, but...
And I don't see us taking a WR AND a RB with our 1st and 3rd round pics. It's 4 offensive positions in a row.
I'm not sure where to start with the inanity of that take. Are there things Daniel Jones is doing that couldn't be asked of Tony Romo?
But I also think that whether any trade down happens will be determined by their assessment of Isiah Simmons. If they think Simmons is the real deal, meaning they don't think his lack of brute strength is an issue, then I believe they go with him at #4. And we don't know what conclusion the Giants front office has reached about Simmons. They may even be split amongst themselves about him, and they may not be the only organisation that's divided about him.
I think that there is too much emphasis on the offense
I think that if the Giants can trade down and get Wirfs, I would take the best defensive player with the next pick.
The Giants need to come out of this draft with at least one player with potential be be a difference maker on defense
They are terrific all-round athletes, but neither is Patrick Mahomes. They take the chances that is at times is beyond wisdom. Jones is more of an pocket QB, Eli Manning type (except he's more accurate).
I believe that this is a very opportune time to act boldly (picking near the top of the draft board). With the acquisition of the free agents so far and a good to average draft we MAY approach 6-7 wins. What concerns me is that we may be inclined to "settle" and underperform for a long time.
I think that we can replicate (if we play our cards right), the quick resurgence of teams like the 49ers, this past year.
If you think Romo was more of a mobile QB than Jones or that Jones is a pocket QB, you missed a great many plays last year that "pocket QB's" don't make.
Jones made more plays with his feet than any QB the Giants have had since Fran Tarkenton.
The trade with the Chargers, picking #6, would bring us Wirfs.
The trade with the Raiders, picking #12 would bring us Henry Ruggs
The whole point of this thread is acknowledging the value present at the top of the board this year (especially top 5). But, just as importantly is the depth at several positions.
This gives us the opportunity to offer some very high quality options to potential trade partners, and at the same time receiving multiple quality.
And even if not, no more first round WRs for the Giants...at least not for awhile.
And he's not just a speed demon, he has good hands and is a FOOTBALL player. If we have any chance to grab him, it would be crazy not to try.
