I do am are not ashamed.
Old/fat NY/NJ guy who misses the stereotypical bagels and pizza like so many others. But for me, I miss/can't resist NY Italian sausage. Specifically, provolone and cheese sausage which I order from Landi's in Brooklyn or Esposito's in NYC. And broccoli rabe/peppers & onions are also on my list.
So many mail order options out there these days- am I the only mail order foodie?
That stuff is the best...

Bill, I know this doesn't help you, or CRinCA at all, but here in Monmouth County NJ CR's old stomping grounds, we have the A&S pork store in Keansburg. They are originally from Brooklyn, and the Italian Sausage is freaking awesome. The place isn't that well known either. Most of their business is wholesale, but they do have a walk in shop in front that also doubles a s a butcher shop. I've never bought anything other than sausage, because the steaks & chicken don't look like anything special, but the hot, sweet, cheese & parsley rings are great.
As far as food I can't get in my area? Cheerwine cherry soda. I love that stuff, even though I rarely drink soda. I have a friend that always brings me some from NC when he visits, that along with Doc Porter Bourbon. No, I never mix the two, I just get the delivery from the same friend.
Mr. Pibb was made to compete with Dr. Pepper and tastes very similar.
Bachman pretzels - the pride of Reading PA! (My mom's family is from there and I've spent much time there over the years.). Owned by Utz now.
White Lily flour. Makes excellent biscuits there is no substitute.
Nashville has everything NJ had except Wegmans. Man I miss Wegmans. Took a while to find pizza but that puzzle has also been solved. Good my bagels are here as well. I consider myself food lucky.

I had no idea there were two types of mayo until I moved to Florida. Duke's was on sale and grabbed some, absolutely hated the taste. Too vinegary and sweet for mayo imo. If I'm looking for vinegary taste I'll make a vinaigrette.

The bread is fluffier too. Not soggy like at the Castle.
My sister left CT in the late 90's and she loved the local marinated mushrooms, marinated eggplant, etc. and will have that shipped.
I really haven't seen it anywhere else and they are great additions to an antipasto.
My mother made her own when I was growing up, but I guess in Vegas it's hard to have a vegetable garden.
My wife will only eat Smith's hot dogs, a regional brand from the Lake Erie area.
Artichokes - fresh grilled hearts from Monterey
Roasted halves (but not marinated hearts) - from Peru and Italy
Spanish Olives marinated in lemon or orange
Marconi Almonds
Duck Breasts and Lamb Sirloin from D'Artigan
Fresh Oysters from Duxbury and Seattle
now that Fairway in Paramus is having issues -- I may need a new source for EVO

gidiefor, are you buying the Rohan, or Long Island duck breast from D'artagnan?
The lamb sirloins are excellent, love them grilled medium rare, with a simple olive oil, garlic, rosemary marinade. I bet they'd be great paired up with fennel pollen too.
Now that I am in NJ, I crave New Mexico Green Chile, but it is expensive to order. I wait for the harvest season and buy at Shoprite. Getting harder to find unfortunately.
My last weekend before I moved east in 2011, I was walking in King Soopers, i saw a Wise Chips display. My mom had been sending me bags for 20 years.
Once carried 2 NJ pizzas onto my flight. They were great.

Besides the Federal roadside roasters, these are the ones I miss the most.

Little Anita's Bacon Green Chile Breakfast Burrito

the Magrets and the Rohans - both awesome!!!
and yes to fellen pollen on the lamb (sop in our household)-- it's outrageous -- and really good on the duck too -- if you syphon the duck fat with pollen bits off into taters -- gives them an awesome flavor

The Magret breast, medium rare, is one of my favorite pieces of meat. They are massive too. Lately I've been getting them from Fossil Farms, they offer a Magret that is only 8-9 oz., not that I can't eat the usual 14oz piece, but it's a nice option.
I'm going to have to get more fennel pollen, I used the last I had on a porchetta last summer.
