Do the giants have anyone on the roster who can play this position well? I would like to see the giants prioritize this position with remaining free agent dollars.
As long as grant Haley isn’t there we should be better
As of now I believe we have the xfl kid who will compete as well as ballentine. Baker, beal and bradberry are boundary corners. I’ve seen bradberry play the slot before maybe hell slide inside. Really tough to predict right now.
The play against Ertz at the goal line , when he ALMOST broke up the touchdown , is indicative to me why he shouldn’t be considered a conventional safety . He’s a player , though . So get him out there somewhere .

I'm with you. I think Loves best position is nickel, sometimes traditional slot, and other times as more of a third safety.
If I'm the Giants I would try and find a deep half FS in the draft instead of a high pick on a slot CB.
the young prospects continue to battle for the spot, as Ballantine and Love showed promise, as did Beal. With Bradberry on the roster, Beal figures to be in the nickel battle more.

I still see Ballentine and Loves roles reversed with Love more in the slot/up in the box underneath and Ballentine playing from deep breaking on balls in front of him. And Ballentine can make plays with the ball in his hands.

Problem with Love is he lacks quickness and hips, both are keys to playing to nickel and staying with the shifty receivers he'll be covering. The positive is playing nickel reduces the surface area he's forced to cover. Ballantine is a superior athlete, but there's both rawness and strong instincts to his play. He'll make some basic mistakes and he'll bring you out of your seat with a play two plays later.
But, I do agree Love at FS isn't a given, although he could get the gig by default this season.

Always saw Love playing good angles and with anticipation with the negative of him not being able to flat out turm and run with gus on the outside. Which is why hes not in the mix on the boundary.
Ballentine to me showed more striding speed then quickness. I feel is a guy that gets faster as he is going. More of kick returner then a punt returner if you will. I need to see him get better with the jam/first move rection to not being playing catch up. Thats why I see him more off the ball.
should be in another camp battle for the boundary spot opposite Bradberry.
I'm in the minority, but I thought Beal was terrible in the fews games he got on the field.
76% completions against, 1 Pass Defense, 115.4 rating against. On 21 targets he gave up 16 catches for 170 yards and a TD. Small sample, but not pretty.
He gets all the slack due for being green and coming on midseason from injury. But he looked totally lost to me.
Beal's shoulder also gave out again Week 16 vs Skins
The realistic best case is that he is a backup outside corner. But you like your backup corners to be special teams contributors and he may be too fragile for that.
If Beal weren't a DG pick, I wouldn't necessarily like his chances of making the roster.
Right now, hoping Askew-Henry shows something in the slot in camp because that role is open.

I think he is green, it was his first live NFL bullets. GOt to give him some ramp up time. The good thing was his body language, instincts, and decisiveness were good. He's got to plaster his man better, react quicker to the receiver movements.
He played the slot for the Bengals.
Jaguars signed CB Darqueze Dennard, formerly of the Bengals, to a three-year, $13.5 million contract.
The deal includes $6 million guaranteed. It's a somewhat curious fit, as the Jags already have D.J. Hayden in the slot.

And we would hope that it’s Baker who emerges there.

Some good slot corner types in this Draft. I have Lavert Hill out of Michigan on my Draft watchlist.
