We all need some good news, or at least good rumors ...

Spider56 : 3/28/2020 4:24 pm
Does anyone know which FA the Giants are still considering? Not who you want, but who they are actually pursuing. Thanks.
here was a list from Duggan - more innuendo than rumor
Eric on Li : 3/28/2020 4:28 pm : link
but they made sense. Dion Lewis was on the list for example.

It's behind the paywall but others who make a lot of sense are Devin Funchess, Golden, Clay Matthews, Jabaal Sheard, Logan Ryan, Nickell Robey, Daryl Worley, Ross Cockrell.
A look at players the Giants could target in the second week of free agency - ( New Window )
This group seems to have a good handle on leaks

We seem to only get a heads up directly from players camp.

I do like that it seems a new name drops every day or so....

But it must be getting time to concentrate on draft.....as money must be getting tight

I'd love for an OL to come through somehow but there doesn't seem to be much for our weakest link.

I don't doubt we sign at least one more viable UFA but overall I think we are close to done.

Funchess to GB
I would like them to add Logan Ryan to play the slot

Disagree. I'm for letting Beal or Ballantine getting a chance to step in & show what they got.

+1

No more third rate FAs. We drafted a ton of DB guys who are supposed to be pretty decent. Give them a chance and don’t waste any more money except for sure things.

Oh, maybe consider signing Clowney and then cutting Willams. A swap of 17 M guys.
Logan Ryan would be a good add - he is still a big time playmaker
Eric on Li : 3/28/2020 7:02 pm : link
at the moment Bradberry is by far the elder-statesman of the secondary and he's just 26.

Ryan has played in this system, in multiple alignments, is familiar with Graham/Judge, and check out his big play production last year:

18 passes defensed
4 INTs
4 FFs
4.5 sacks
8 qb hits
4 TFL
73 solo tackles (113 total)

A 1 or 2 year deal to play some slot and safety would be a really good move.
Let’s not add

a proven talent like Logan Ryan when we have two unknowns who can’t stay healthy for a whole season battle it out. It’s that kind of mentality that got the giants in this mess and fans love to accept mediocrity.

+1. It's odd. It's like as the team got worse, the fans got more delusional. It's funny, too, though.

Ballantine got hurt on a kick return late in the year and Beal played once off IR....so let's not confuse the issue. What is the point of drafting these guys if they don't let them play to see if they can actually do the job. This is a waste year. I don't mind getting a vet back up, but let's see if these guys cam play.
Didn’t Cockrell do okay a couple of years ago? I haven’t kept track of
Ivan15 : 3/28/2020 8:07 pm : link
Him but if he has retained his skills, he could add veteran depth.

Am i mistaken?

If Golden is too expensive I would be happy with Clay Matthews or Jabaal Sheard on a 1 year deal. Obviously Graham and Judge are familiar with them.

Matthews can still contribute as a pass rush specialist and he would give the coaches another year to develop and evaluate Carter and Ximines.

Perhaps the fact that Logan Ryan is seeking a contract that pays $10 million a year has something to do with it? I would love to add him also but let's not bash Gettleman for not signing a nickelback that much money.
For the millionth time
Playing the slot in the NFL is completely different then playing outside corner. Beal nor Ballentine are slot defenders.

Haha. Classic. You’ve spent this entire free agency period bitching about the Giants signing players that weren’t OL or edge rushers. You’ve complained about every single player they’ve signed. But now, you’re bitching about them not signing a slot corner that wants $10 Million/per?

Unbelievable. More proof that you don’t have a clue what you want, you just want to complain. About anything and everything. Pathetic.
